I wanted you to know I followed your instructions on planting seeds I got from a pod on my amaryllis and they grew so well. It has been a few years and I now have 13 plants! Some though are very small. I am going to try and transplant them this spring and put them outside and hope they grow bigger so I can give them away. I'm running out of room....lol I live in New York so cold winters. I am going to look to see if you have more info on type of soil. Thanks again it was fun and rewarding growing these little guys.
Just had my first little one and my brother in law brought us a Amaryllis as a gift, i love plants but never really knew much about this, i was about the just put it in the garbage and told myself WAIT i need to look this beautiful plant up and do some research and i got to tell you thank you, will do my best now to grow my own god bless you Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much for your most informative videos. I now have approx. 30 sprouts nestled into compost and growing away like mad. I recon I'll have a challenge through the winter as the light levels here in the South West of the UK can be pretty low ....not to mention the frost and snow at times.
Dear Sir, I love amaryllis, and for many years I have such plants in pots on my balcony. Friends and strangers always ask me what kind of plant this, while admiring it! I was wondering what I can do with its seeds ... and now I know. Thank you so very much ... Many wishes for health from Greece!
I STARTED mine in a POTTING MIX in May and and spray them every other or third day. I heard you say 2,3 weeks but I am sure you meant days. I hope they will be ok for another year before I transfer them. What I have learned with Amaryllis is as long as they developed a good bulb because they are pretty tough plants, they will survive transplant. I'm just not sure if I used enough soil so I can leave them 2 YEARS. Well we'll see!! God bless you all.
Amaryllis man thanks a lot for your videos I watched all of them and learn a lot from them I just got I question I live in chicago illinois and we get real cold weather's in the winter sometimes around 30 below 0 i just needed to know if it was ok to plant a 4 year old bulb directly to the ground and would it be able to survive the winter? Thanks again, I will be watching all your videos Iam a fan of yours God bless you.
I would love to have an amaryllis like you have on your ebay store but I can't find it in your offerings.. it is the one that is shown on the far top right on your store page that has the words "Enjoy shopping and expect fast shipment" it looks to be pink and white..
I would say they need to sit in a window or shady spot that gets some sun part of the day. As seedlings they are very delicate so somewhere that gets partial sun is best.
Bekka t, start with a good potting MIX and a shady spot allowing some sun. Never full sun as they will burn up. Late April or May will give them a headstart while it is cool enough to germinate. Once a bulb forms they are very hearty and can survive better thru the Hot Summer. But they should be moved indoors or a very shady spot outdoor once the temperature reaches over 78°F.
