How to grow apple trees from seed, an easy and fun way to grow an apple tree. You can do this for many varieties of apple trees, the ones I chose were a golden delicious and a granny smith apple tree.
I was eating a pink lady the other day and the seeds in the apple had already started to sprout. so I put them in a container with some wet paper towels and they have been there for around 2-3 weeks... I have 4 little plants at the moment, they even have some root!! xx
stephyclaws if they have already sprouted in the apple, you have no need to put them into wet paper towel. Seeds already sprouted inside the apple should be played straight into soil either in a pot or in the ground.
I just love this guy. Just the way he talks, his countenance...great advice, straight to the point. Just perfect. Not confusing. People make the stratification process so confusing sometimes. I love him. LOVE YOU, BRO!
Rose uk all that putting it in the fridge does is tricks it into thinking winter has passed. That's why you should only do that method in late autumn/winter. Mid-late spring/summer you don't need to do it.
The chance of getting the same type of apple tree from seed are very, very slim. This is because a Granny Smith for example, is unlikely to have been germinated by another Granny Smith tree.
I've read that if you do it like this, you actually won't get the same type of apple, but the rootstock that the scion was grafted to. I'm not sure if that's right though.
A powerful video, I simply given this onto a colleague who was doing somewhat analysis on this. And he in actual fact bought me breakfast because I discovered it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the deal with! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to debate this, I feel strongly about it and love studying more on this topic. If possible, as you become experience, would you thoughts updating your youtube channel with more details? Its extremely useful for me. Huge thumb up for this youtube channel publish!
Wow..amazing..how long did you keep the seeds in the fridge for plz?also..i like your 7up containers..cool idea..so do you take the cap off of it so water can go up through it?thanks..first time I see blue paper towels..nice
I just eat the apple, remove seeds, remove the seed shell, put seed in soil and water. In a few day's the seed should be sprouted and growing. I have 5 gala seedlings that are 4 weeks old and very strong, about 9 inches tall now. I planted 4 more tonight. Thinking about topping them soon.
This is great! Thank you. Does stratification work the same way and as quickly with other fruit seeds, like quince for eg.? I have done this with apples before, not understanding till now, that the proof of stratification is germination and kept seeds in fridge 3 months@
So when I plant the little ceiling thing or the little sprout after I take it out of the fridge, do I plant the little white things in the soil or do I leave them above the soil or do I plant the whole thing just below the soil, I’m thinking that the white squid thing on the dark is a root?
Mine are growing like a tube with green leaves starting to appear. To transplant since they are 12 inches high a nd the tube was starting to bend l propped it up. My question is how deep do i plant then. How far up the tube do l plant? I grew them on the kitchen counter this winter.
i have had some luck with apple (honey crisp) seeds by skipping the fridg. i nick the small end of the seeds with single edge blade carefully place in wet paper towel less than 10 days some will sprout in a zip lock my desk drawer room temp about 70 deg
100games100days for non citrus fruit trees, any well draining multipurpose compost will work perfectly fine. However, you can't beat using a home made compost with 20% coco coire added to it.
I doubt any apple would grow fruit in the Philippines. They require "chill hours" in order to produce fruit...ie the temperature has to be below freezing for so many hours...600+ generally for most types of apples. Even an Anna apple requires 100 chill hours. The Philippines is tropical/sub-tropical, so apples don't grow there.. it simply isn't cold enough.
sir please tell me that how water remains in the bottom of the soda bottles cuz if you put the soil in it it will go down what do you use plz sir reply i also want tw grow plants because my mother plans to give away those bottles and i want to recycle them
They cut the top off of the bottle and turn the separated top upside down and place it into the bottom half. That way the soil goes into the upside down bottle top and the bottom collects the water so the plant doesnt overwater. Hope this helped
thohz r huj sprowtz bro awsuhm bro i juhst learn we kan sprowt them in 2 dayz sohk seed for 1 day then skratch end off n put in paper towl in zip lock ~ iym learning now thanx for showing how yur duing it
OK 38 seconds in and let me stop you there, doesn't matter what kind of apple you have, the trees always produce a different apple even if you take all the seeds from one apple you will get different apple trees
Dominic Delagado Apples seeds were produced sexualy, but all branches from which a given variety are grown were produced via grafting. So all new seeds will be different but related varieties.
Dominic Delgado basically apple trees can't self pollinate they need a different variety to cross pollinate ex. Gala and honey crisp. The result is that the seed in the apple will produce a cross between the two. The only way to get another gala apple tree or what ever type is to graft a branch from the desired tree onto the base of another apple tree
Irish Ladd123 it is possible to get the same tree from the seed of an apple if it is a polyembryonic seed. And that goes for any fruit tree you get the seeds from. #themoreyouknow
