I a beginner and found the video very practical and informative .. thanks a lot for sharing.. one of the very few videos on growing alyssum... I particularly like that you hv suggested the alternate potting mix for clayey soil as well.. most youtubers forget that the soil is diff across regions... had a Q- the 3 plant packets that you potted .. did each packet contain only 1 alyssum plant or were multiple in each packet ? And ideally one should plant 3 to 4 individual plants in a 10 inch pot, right?

Glad you liked it and thank you so much for your words, much appreciated! Yeah, it's important to thin the seedlings or else, they won't grow and spread well. For example, on this video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2qJj5_KyYVY.html), you can see what happens if we don't transplant them at the right time or if we don't thin out them. Sir one more question I need to ask you. Your previous reply was very helpful to me. 1. Can I use NPK fertilizer in seed germination process? 2. Should I give liquid NPK to plant or to give 3-4 grains?
@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@Subrata Saha, glad to know it was helpful. Myself Chandan and I would appreciate if you don't call me Sir. Anyway, back to your question - There is no need to use NPK at the time of sowing seeds. You can use 80% either cocopeat or Garden soil + 20% vermicompost. If you use NPK directly in the sowing medium, the nitrogen can burn the baby seedlings. However, you can feed the seedlings with NPK once they have 2-4 true leaves. To feed any seedlings, use half dose of fertilizer. So, mix 2 grams (around 1/2 teaspoon) in 1 ltr of water and spray the fertilizer. Plz also note that, in most cases we don't need to feed our seedlings at all. But if you want to do, above would be right method. Another imp thing - Alyssum seeds need light to germinate. So, don't cover them with dirt. Instead, you can just press them in soil. Plz let me know if you have any questions and I would be glad to help you. Thank you :-)

@Farheen Chaudhuri, thank you for your question. It was a plastic pot. Hello brother, Thank you so much for such a detailed video. I'm growing Alyssum through seeds however I see a lot of seeds have germinated. How many plants I can keep in 10" pot. Further, I NPK 20 20 20 is good for flowering or we should buy fertilizer rich in Phosphorus and Potassium? Your Fan from Pakistan :)
@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 3 года назад
@Khalique Dad, Warm Welcome brother and thank you much for visiting my Channel. In a 10" pot 4 plants can be easily grown and this way, it's going to look much fuller and it would look very attractive. NPK 20 20 20 is more than enough..only thing is we should apply the fertilizer containing Micronutrients at lease once in 25-30 days. Only for Roses, we need to apply bit differently as it's bit tough to make them happy! Thank you again and let me know if you have any questions :-) Good luck with your plants :-)

@@GardeningUpbeat Thank you so much brother for your reply. Can I transplant a few of my Alyssum seedlings once they grow two leaves? or they will not survive the transplant. I thought I can keep a lot of plants in 10" pot, like Portulaca, that's why I put a lot of seeds in one 10" pot. :(

@Khalique Dad, Most welcome brother...You can transplant when they have 3-4 true leaves (much safer)...the first 2 are not true leaves and I believe you already know that. @GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@@budgetgardening474 , now it's look good, I mean, Brother :-) Sorry to know about your seedlings and I really hope that this time you would be successful. Using Cocopeat is simple - Let's say you are using a 600 - 700 grams of cocopeat block, then it would expand up to around 3.5 kg. So, just take a bucket, pour around 3-4 liters water in it and keep the cocopeat block there for around 1-2 hours. It would absorb the water and then you would be able to use it easily. Anyway, you would come to know whether it can absorb more water or you have added excess water. If it can absorb some more water, plz add some more. The cocpeat block should get decompressed properly before using it. Next - Just squeeze the cocopeat with your hand so that it doesn't contain too much water. Now, you are ready to use it to sow the seeds. At this time the cocopeat would look like bit moist and it's perfectly okay. And, absolutely no need to sundry the cocopeat before using it to sow the seeds. Plz don't use Neem Cake powder as it can burn the baby seedlings. No need to use anything else other than vermicompost. I am not thinking like you are going to disturb me if I give you my Whatsapp no.
