It's been 1 month or so since our last video on Easter. But things are moving quickly! Our dragon fruits have exploded in growth and before we knew it it was time to construct trellises and cut them!

I NEVER would have thought of just writing the labels directly on the cuttings. So simple and clever!

That is very helpful when you display the names of the plants and show which way they are suppose to be planted. All of your plants look healthy and green. You really gave a green thumb. Thank you for sharing.👍

I’m in NWFL and I bought a Dragonfruit a couple years ago out of all places Walmart, lol. I knew nothing about them but I had blooms this year. The first one I didn’t know how to hand pollinate it so it just drop off. The lasted two bloomed over the weekend and have been hand pollinated. I’ve taken cuttings from it and hope to have more next year

Essas madeiras apodrecem muito rápido, nós usamos metade de um pneu com o corte para baixo, pois não machuca a planta e dura eternamente.

Thank you for this series of videos my main source of confusion comes at how to create the top of the dragon fruit post. I like your idea of using wood instead of the more commonly used rebar but my main question is how do I attach either to the top of my wooden post?
@jamescc2010

Do you have to dry the cuttings for a week or so first before planting in soil?
@Eagle1538
@Eagle1538 4 года назад
Yes. Let the cuttings rest in a shoe box or shaded place for a week or so.

Neat poles. How long should these poles bee and how deep should I bury them. I love that they are not too tall. That would be great for me since I am short. Also what are the dimensions of the square top and what angle did you cut the support beams? I have some dragon fruits that were cuttings and have been neglected. They've gotten big and I need to get them out of the baby pots and into the ground.

Just curious, but I see you handling these plants without gloves. I have two plants that are apparently the same variety, but have no idea which one as all the tag said was "dragon fruit"... Thanks Lowes! Anyway, mine have stickers that will even go through leather gloves. Do any of your plants have these nasty stickers? Yours are looking great!

+piemaster4 the poles are 4x4 pressure treated wood. Wrapped in burlap. The top wood are studs I had from a construction demo. I cut them in half long ways. Then cut 18 inch sections of them and cut the ends on a 45° angle. Screwed it all together! I hope this helps. Refer to videos for a visual. Thanks

@Eagle1538

Hello. Unfortunately our plants are only yearlings and haven't produced fruit yet. Soil we've used black cow mixed with the local soil. Also fertilized with general fertilizer 10-10-10 a few times as cuttings . and 6-6-6 every 2 months or so currently. I hope this answers your questions. watch our other videos if you have more questions and I hope you get fruit!!

@Eagle1538
@Eagle1538 8 лет назад
+onur ciftci The poles in the ground are PT wood (Pressure Treated). So, like a fence post it's designed to be in soil or outside for long periods before rot occurs. The spars for the trellis are yellow lumber and will need replacing after a few years. Thanks for watching!
