Thanks for you dedication and thoroughness! Can't believe you put 2 years into making this video! It was so awesome to see all of the different stages and even the die back in the winter. You've got a great voice too! A+++
This was the best video I’ve found yet! I appreciate how you took the time to film through the different phases instead of just telling us. Beautiful flowers! I can’t wait to plant some. ☺️
@@jennifersteeves5482 they wetted the compost soil before they planted the seeds. The plastic cover helps to conserve moisture. This is a tough plant that grows in it's native area of extremes.
I appreciate how you took the time to film through the different phases instead of just telling us. It was great to see what the plants look like in the varying stages of growth. Very helpful. Thank you!
This was a great video! Every instruction clear and unambiguous , with visuals to back them up. Even a complete beginner would know what to do after watching this. Excellent!👍🏼
I love coming back every year to watch these videos and get my inspiration for starting my seeds indoors. I've always loved your soft spoken voice and feel as though it's now my traditional welcome to planting season! Hope you're doing well across the pond!
Good to see a video that shows all the stages, not just sowing the seed which is the easy part! I have found that some echinacea varieties (like Green Twister, beautiful) do flower a bit in year one but definitely much stronger and better flowering in year 2.
Agree, absolutely great instruction. I even learned not to expect the flower in a first yeat. My new plants are so big and robust that was really hopeful... Thank you.
Thank you for such an easy to follow, excellently produced presentation. One of the best I have come across regarding sowing flower seeds for beginners.
Thank you for the best video that shows how to grow ECHINACEA. The steps and the vivid growth of the plant helps me to identify it's growth stages. Absolutely wonderful and helpful.
This was great,my echinacea plant didn't bloom the first year, went dead over the winter, but started seeing shouts this spring, I'm so excited to see what they will look like this year
Thank you very much for this clear & easy to follow tutorial. I really appreciated that it was aimed at a novice or small scale gardener, and that was devoid of pricey ( and perhaps unnecessary?) gadgets like grow lights, heat mats, mini trowels, and the like. Also thank you for mentioning that Echinacea only flowers the subsequent season! I nearly threw mine out, wondering if I had bought duds. All the best & happy gardening. Keep making those videos, so helpful
Thank you for an excellent video with great instructions through the stages. I am going to try again, as previously I couldn't get the seeds to germinate.
Thankyou for this. Lovely clear step by step instructions from someone who is obviously an old hand at gardening. I love your water bottle with holes for a sprinkler ( might try that 😋). What great success from a £1 pack of seeds. I'm inspired 😄👍
these flowers are beautiful. So the first year we don’t see any flowers blooming. right now it’s the middle of July. I’m gonna plant them in pots and then move them into my backyard. Hopefully the end of August September will still be warm. And hopefully next year I’ll see some flowering. Thanks for the information.
if i plant new seeds late in the season maybe in august and they dont fully grow, will they flower in the next spring? i just bought seeds and will plant them this week great video you made
I get so many volunteer coneflower / echinacea babies that I dig up and put in container of a mix of perlite, Peat, and clean sand. They do great. I guess there's more than one way to get to Carnegie Hall.
When they die during winter do you just leave them to do their thing? Or do you need to cover them to avoid frost or cut them back or anything like that? (Sorry very new to gardening was going to do some of these this week) also can they be kept in a large pot/container? How deep should the pot be if so?
I was going to comment this too!😅 Thankyou🙌 I'm going to try & grow mine in pots too! I've done a bit of research, and I think the size pots you choose, depend how big you want the plant to grow in height? And I think the pots need good drainage holes. I'm excited to see mine flower next year, it's an exciting project & something to look forward to!😄 I thought I'd do it now because I'd regret it when it comes round to next year😅
@@louiseamyxo what size pots did you get for yours? I’m attempting to propagate them at the moment been two or three days no sign yet but hoping soon something will happen 🤞🏽
@Noshin Mahmud I started mine in seedling trays & am slightly increasing the pot sizes as time goes on & they get bigger, not sure how big the end pot will be, but going to try different ones out & see what does best, or if putting 2 in a trough will work? Mine grew seedlings within like 2 weeks, and at the point when the stem & leaves got bigger, that's when I moved it to a slightly bigger pot. Hope it goes well for you😊🤞x
What did you use for your seed starting mix? Also should I start seeds now in Southeast United States then plant? Will they then bloom next year if I get a early start? Great step by step video and very helpful.
loved the video - voice is so relaxing - great no nonsense show and tell. I picked up some good tips..... one question Im late for sowing indoors so what happens in you sow them directly into the soil? Would that be as successful?
If you are late then why not start indoors? Otherwise you can sow them outdoors - I would cover with plastic or glass to keep them warm and help them germinate quicker. Keep safe.
Hello, very useful videos, when I pre-grow and propagate plants in the apartment, I have a problem with mold on the soil and it causes damage and the aesthetic is not nice, does this happen to you too?
Hello thank you for this detailed video. I am new at gardening, could you please tell me what is the compost you use? I mean what are the ingredients of the mix.
Hi Maria. Compost is decomposed organic matter that contains plenty of nutrients. Soil is mainly mineral based. Good luck with your growing and keep safe.
Hi! Thank you for this video. I should have watched it before I purchased a bunch of these seeds. Will these grow and bloom where I live, Hawaii. Do these plants need a frost or can I just cut them all the way back in the winter??😓
You are welcome. I am sorry but I dont know your climate so cannot advise. I can tell you that here in the UK I cut mine back every Autumn and they come back again next Spring.
Thank you very much for making this video, how are the flower going? Could you tell the location you plant this in terms of sunlight? I get struggle of choosing location for my plants. The instruction sometimes can be incorrect, ie some plants require full sun but can be tolerant to semi shade, but if I put them on that condition plants got burnt. Is your fence area get afternoon sun or morning sun?
My Echinacea come back year after year and have been wonderful this year. The fence runs north to south and here in the UK the sun will be on the plants from midday until about 1 hour before sunset. Hope this helps
