+SmilingKnight Check the roots to see if they are alive and heathy. If not that is the problem. Be sure to water when the soil appears dry and not before. Keep at a minimum tmeperature of 65 and give them all the sun you can. If the root system has collapsed then don’t repot them but try and regulate the moisture in the soil and see if you can get them to grow new roots. At times they will come back from this stress as the season progresses.

Citurs hystrix has flowers that are both male and female or perfect flowers as it is known. Actually all citrus have perfect flowers and are self pollinating.

They prefer a well-draining soil free from slow release fertilizers.

We use a standard potting mix of peat, perlite and vermiculite ot a peat lite mix. With a ph between 5.8 and 6.2.

30 to 40% perlite 10% vermiculite Best to buy a prepared soil unless you can understand the liming needs of the soil you are mixing. Most potting mixes are made of sphagnum peat moss perlite and vermiculite. Sometime compost is added and composted bark. To that dolomitic lime stone is added and some fertilizer.

Does kaffir lime grow new leaf in fall and winter time ? thank you so much

Yes but not to much. Most citrus slow down there growth in late fall and winter, with growth resuming in late winter.

My 3 years old grafted kaffir lime flowers and fruits late last December under grow lights, now bearing 8 larger fruits, with many more tiny flowers and fruit buds growing. I'm thrilled and surprised this is happening. I'll take it outside next week, high temp looks to be in the 70s.

Sure it’s the correct variety? The leaf is double segmented which is different than most citrus and even under poor culture the leaves are highly aromatic.

Yes, the worn out tag definitely reads Kaffir Lime and a small branch closest to the soil has the leaves you've described with the familiar citrusy aroma. However, this is the only branch with the double large dark green leaves. There's about 30cms before the next branch and all the top branches have tiny yellow-light green leaves. I've now chopped the plant back to just above the lowest branch and hoping for the best.
