Hollis and Nancy, RU-vid unsubscribed me to your channel!!!! Why, I don’t know. I suddenly realized I hadn’t gotten anything from you. So, I looked and I was unsubscribed!! But, I’m back now. I love you two, and enjoy your channel sooo much!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️

Welcome back. Yes, RU-vid has unsubscribed literally tens of thousands of our subscribers without their permission. In fact, folks such as yourself discovers you were unsubscribed and subscribed again only to find a couple of weeks later they did it again. One man told us he has been unsubscribed four times!!! They also deactivated many folks notification bell. We have also learned that if our subscribers don’t watch any of our videos for 3-4 weeks, they will stop showing any of our videos on your feed. Many folks thought we quit making videos entirely. It is very discouraging for us but we keep trying to keep our channel alive.

Hey Hollis and Nancy! We live in zone 9B just a little more south than ya'll. I absolutely LOVE your videos. Our garden last year was a huge success. I was told by several people that it was impossible to grow in Florida without using pesticides. That is sort of true. I used a home brew of Jalapenos, garlic, and some dish soap. That was great for keeping the bugs away. I want to thank you both for all the videos that you create and I attribute my gardening success DIRECTLY to YOU! Thanks!

@@lisawilson9816 In a blender add 3-4 jalapenos, 3-4 cloves of garlic peeled.. Blend in a cup or two of water until it's very well blended. I use a Vitamix which is a pretty powerful blender and I let it run for a couple minutes on high. Pour that mixture in a 1 or 2 gl sprayer using a nut milk bag to filter the solids, add the dish soap. These measurements are not critical. Fill the sprayer to the top with water. Shake well. Pump it up and spray liberally. It doesn't affect ants but I've watched many other bugs curl up and die or skedaddle. Do this once per week and make sure you spray from underneath the tomato leaves. Also, wear a respirator or at the very least, a medical mask and try not to get this stuff in your nose, mouth or eyes. You'll pay for it if you do. 🙂

I grew up by the Niagara river as a kid in the 70s. My Dad always put his fish guts and heads in the garden! Now I'm in Florida. I once put okra on fish heads and they grew to 11'4" tall. The mullet run is happening on the beach. Now is a good time to get bait fish for the garden.

I hope they're doing it correctly, sure seems like they're having great results. I really love the trellises! Cattle panel and 4x4s - can't beat 'em! These progression videos are so satisfying. Great thing for the foresight you had and the action you took when you saw that major heat coming in. Unplanned succession planting! Works for me! Don't know if it has been suggested, but I grow with containers in the Midwest. And I have an abundance of maple and oak seedlings that crop up my yard every year and I pot them in pots up to 14 inches and use them as moveable shade for some of my more tender plants when the heat comes on here in the summer and early autumn. I rotate them in 3's and keep about 9 plants growing at a time. When they outgrow the pots I give the tree away or plant it somewhere I am allowed to plant. I am so glad I found your channel, you have answered so many questions I have had about my garden, where my success and failure have come from. Thank you so very much for these videos!

Went to check on him after about 15 minutes. There he was, sitting on the deck, surrounded in pea PLANTS and empty pods. "What did You Do" "You said I could pick 3" He was right, he picked exactly 3 PLANTS!!! I knew right then and there, I'd been had by my own words. Outsmarted by a 4 year old. lol TYFS 😇

@@HollisNancysHomestead Hello☀️Good morning and thank you for your reply. Glad to hear that it is OK to eat the whole thing. I was a little concerned because while on a hike I once found wild peas and wanted to forage and eat them. Thank goodness, I looked it up first. I found out the pod of this species was very toxic. I’m so glad these delicious sugar snaps that we find in produce are fully edible! Strange thing is when I was a kid these were not around in any of the grocery stores down in South Florida. I wonder if we could’ve found them in small towns or if they were “discovered” as a wonderful food when I started seeing them around 25- 30 years ago.. I pray you both have a beautiful, beautiful day filled with God‘s love, peace and joy!

Hey Hollis this garden season I used the fish I caught out of my creek to fertilize one row of sweet corn. It grew very well, no issues with the cobs. The squirrels loved it. Lol take care love your videos

I really enjoyed that, very relaxing! I’m growing edible podded sugar snap peas. Up here in the Toronto area I put them in around August 1st to replace my bush beans, we should have a nice harvest in the fall. I reckon my climate is a little more conducive to English peas than Florida’s! I really liked those beautiful trellis beds you built, I was imagining all the different crops I would use on them. God bless Klaus

Sir, I’ve just gotta say your video really made my day. No need to explain the how’s and why’s,. Just know that in the opposite corner of the country up here, north of Seattle Washington, you’ve earned a subscriber. Gardener to Gardner, THANK YOU! Sidenote, my fiancé, and I happen to fly into that storm down there when we arrived at Fort Lauderdale that season. The tropical storm was kind of reckoning and eye-opening. It’s ironic that we experienced that all while you were filming your experience. Hope you and Nancy are doing well this season. It’s the beginning of our gardening season and my sugar snaps are doing pretty good. Appreciate the Advice

Hello - Love all these videos from seed to harvest - I've heard you should soak the peas before planting to get 100% sprouts - What do you think about that?

I have the same tiller as u……we also have a big one but I let my husband use that one…..i love to fish! I go alone but now that Im remarried ( Third time at 53) inhave a fishing partner! He bought a nice boat that has six seats…the comfortable kind! Bit we pull them seats as we only need two seats! We live close to Lake Michigan but I am a panfish girl so we go to smaller lakes whwich are all over here so …( i bought a new fishing mole unbeknownst to my husband the other day…!) we have a lot of poles but I wanted this one……so you,are lucky, most girls dont like fishing…..but i love it..its my favorite thing to do besides my garden and im.a bird person as well…know most by sound alone…..I,was lucky to be the daughter of an outdoorsman…my father was the largest trapper ( trapped the most fur)in western michigan for many years, and a top lot trapper as well….which means his furs were very high quality….he passed in 2016 and ill tell u my life is like 40 % of what ot used to be I miss him so bad……☹️

So true about "nothing to watch on tv." A child recently asked if I watch some program I know nothing about. I told him that I don't watch TV, and haven't in more than a couple of years. He said, "What's wrong with TV?" I replied, "What's right with it?" From God's mind and will, it's not good. Even the commercials are vile. I'll stop there! God bless you, and enjoy the peace and rest that is only found in Him. 😊

Love your videos. I always look forward to watching them. I live in Central Florida zone 9b in Kissimmee. I thought I read on the blood meal bag not to use on beans and peas. But yours grow well. Looking forward to planting our Fall garden soon. Thanks for your gardening ideas. And Nancy too for the great cooking videos.

It’s not good to add too much nitrogen to beans because they will produce all foliage and no blooms. Blood meal seems to work fine for me so I don’t have to add inoculates to the soil.
