@@maestria5640 No, I'm terrible at sales and marketing so I never tried. I still like the idea though. This peaks my interest, I maybe could give it a shot now, I rent a house now with a pretty good size yard and very chill property management At the time of original comment I was in a garage apartment.

This video is 👍🏻 been growing my micro greens indoors under Happy Leaf LED grow lightsand I love them. A plus is they are USA MADE. Thanks for the vid!
Because it doesn't benefit the government. They don't want you to feed yourself. They don't want self sustaining citizens that know how to think for themselves. Abundance is the enemy of the government. That's why they poison our water and grow f'd up food for us to buy so we get sick and buy their pharmaceuticals and get more sick while they get more rich.
joe carrigan would be good if they'd bring that back. Instead of making useless human beings. Not to say that doctors or lawyers and stuff like that are useless, but Human beings have become very dependant on the system. becoming useless for basic survival.
squints palledorous watch Tekos Russian school where kids 7-17 teach each other and built own school and when they graduate they can build their own home!!
As this video just crossed 300K views, I would like to thank all the amazing people who have bought our systems as well our microgreens and have sent such awesome emails to Zhanna and myself, especially John for believing in us and sharing our farm with his many followers thank you so much. KARMA, Again We thank all of you for the AMAZING SUPPORT
I appreciate you reminding us all that we really can be producers, not just consumers. I also appreciate the transparency and willingness to share that I have seen from you and some of the companies you have profiled. It's a refreshing shift from the competitiveness and secrecy that typically dominates industry. Prosperity is not finite. We really can all live abundantly.
About the "supermarket shelf greens" tasting bitter, so true!! I used to think that I didn't like vegetables raw until I helped in a farm and saw kale plants sprowting naturally from the ground, so I ate some leaves from it, no washing, no nonsense, just chew it!! I will never forget, I never knew a green leaf could taste that good!!
Why our system works! why we make the money we make!: We don't grow 50 trays of microgreens and hope we sell them, go to chefs and hope they buy... We only grow what we have STANDING ORDERS FOR, chef's tell us we will take 6 trays a week and in those trays I would like: Basil, Red Cabbage, Peas and Leek (example) every week the chef gets 6 trays of these maybe one week Leeks seeds were hard to get so I sub some Mitzuna they LOVE IT, for farmers market I grow less then I would sell thus I have ZERO WASTE if I know I sell 6-8 trays at the market I don't grow 12 hoping to see 4-6 more - If you waste microgreens your lose MONEY
WOW... This is amazing! You and your wife are amazing for sharing your knowledge , bless you❤ I'm definitely going to look into this... I am in Jacksonville Fl...I don't think we have many 4-5 star restaurants that would utilize microgreens but I'm going to check to see if there's a market here for this. Thank you 😄
We grown extra because we know we'll eat it ourselves. it's so healthy for you that we want to make sure that we get enough for ourselves as well as to sell the other people, my wife wants to start another channel where she goes over the process of growing the microgreens and selling them. Hopefully one day will come close to the quality and production that these other amazing Farmers have.
Go here now if you want to learn how to grow organic mushrooms cheaply: MushroomGrow.xyz Love the video man, quite encouraging to watch while waiting much to spread . I love sporeworks , and free spores is awesome also .
I'd say this. Make a micro green organic farm that grows ALL naturally outside with sunshine and compare the final product with a synthetic indoor environment and arrtificial light. Of course it will be much harder because you cannot control all the parameters outdoors especially insects but i expect the product to be 10x better than this still. At least it should be done to provide a benchmark for comparison. Needless to say i am not all in on this boat. I believe in natural sunshine and i believe in a rich ecosystem because this STILL IS monoculture brought indoors. I know John comes from the good side of his heart but nobody is mistake proof. I think this is not the way for nature, i am convinced that plants do better in a multi culture environment including micro greens. I see this more as a business optimization at the detriment of the natural ecosystem.
So we are literally about ready to grow in our apartment, and then move the operation to a house... because we will have the capital then, no problem. Looking at hydroponic grow towers and now micro-greens. Looking forward to getting started! Wish us luck!
I love this! Thank you so much for this extensive and informative video. I am trying to help my 22 year old son start a business. He was injured at work a couple years ago and has difficulty working a regular job. He has the gift of gab, he is a novice chef, and has a large room where he could start a growing system....he lives very close to a larger metropolitan city, too!
would I be rude asking the age of this lovely man who set it all up, it might encourage me at 50 that I can have a future growing and eating the stuff, bless
This video touched me deeply. I have never in my life ever come across someone that cares so passionately about the health of the planet like you do John. Seeing you here with Larry, who also comes across as an exceptional human being really did it for me.
City-Hydro did NOT raise any PRICES, we are now giving FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ITEMS the shipping cost were being unfair too many (not us UPS) so we wanted to make the shipping cost more affordable so we really did lower the overall cost. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding and THANKS EVERYONE for the AWESOME SUPPORT - John is AMAZING
Larry -- for shipping, check out www.roadie.com. Really. It's a great and affordable way of shipping that gets you out of the UPS/FedEx/big-corporate-shipper department into something human-scale and reasonably priced!
What an incredible video! Thanks John and Larry for this info. I love greens, especially mustard, kale, etc. I’d love to try basil and parsley. Thank you.
Wow this is so inspiring! Actually I'm depressed lately because of this quarantine and lock downs, and this video just appeared in my recommendations. Thanks I'm gonna try this out.
John ~ I must tell you how much I appreciate what you do and why!! Today I was entertaining the idea of sprouting and/or beginning to grow my own greens again. I was looking around for what I wanted to be able to do that AGAIN. (Actually, I started years ago. My mom was diagnosed with an invasive cancer for the second time. She was given a short time to live. She outlived ALL her doctors including the morbidly obese “cancer specialist” who gave her the second diagnosis! She did it with wheat grass juice, fresh vegetable juice and raw food!) Genetically I don’t look so good AND I have been under enormous stress for the past few years! (As a Chiropractor, a Naturopath and a Homeopath I am well trained in the dangers of stress. AND I was hit by a truck a few years ago walking to my car. The truck came out better than me! I lost most of what was near and dear to me ~ my health, my house, my ability to run and move pain-free through space!) I had something like this that I can’t find and have been looking to replace. I am presently living in a small space with a tiny kitchen and a house mate. As soon as I am out of this situation I will be getting the double rack set up! People do not understand the power of living foods and living greens! They are so potent that they can cure just about anything!
I really love the idea of extra rooms for farming lol. I have 2 spare rooms and space in the basement. got 2 50 gallon tanks for fish and 4 grow beds = about 112 sq foot so minimum for 100 lbs of fish or so on my current set up(not yet complete aquaponics) but I was tempting to put some shelving there around the aquaponics in the basement since the light bulb = light = efficient indoor farming if i can. Although if i can do this in trays on shelving i am thinking will be nice, but i also gotta figure out how to market restraunts etc. I figure it wont hurt if i can figure out the perfect system for micro greens. and a good balance for the fish/aquaponics. I may even put some aquaponics water in bottles and see if that helps with their grow times. who knows. would love some bok choi and kale micro salads for work and maybe share with folks to see what they think of tastes and see if i can get some fans of microgreens etc.
Just got to say I so admire what you do, John . The passion and commitment to showing us viewers is totally amazing. I just dropped Larry a few questions about his system ( inquiries based on my location in Ontario Canada ) as a result of your video. Thanks for all that you do, John... Love, Peace and Light. ... Patrick
Love this John, and your passion really shows through this video.. thanks to Larry as well.. still learning and hopefully soon will be growing microgreens.. :)
$30 revenue per tray, 18 trays in growing stage with an average post-germination grow time of 4 days (so let’s say two rounds per week). That’s 36 trays per week. 36 @ $30 is about $1,000/week revenue. That’s $52,000/year. Not even close to $100,000. Also, those LED lights are not custom. Lastly, I’m sure Larry is a great guy with great intentions, and I hope he is not beyond learning because that facility could be much more efficient. All in all, great video; I really enjoyed it. One more thing: those are coconut pith mats, not coconut coir. Coir would not stay together after it got wet. Coir is the fine inside fiber of the coconut shell. Pith is the outer stringy fiber of the shell.
Trays are $40.00 but even at $30.00 12 racks 10 trays per rack in vegetative state 120 trays every 3-4 days we don't use the racks with lights on for germination that is done on different racks that fit 15 trays each that $3600.00 every 3-4 days at $30.00 a tray - the racks we sell do 6 trays every 3-4 days the growers sell trays for $50-$75.00 to restaurants and $80-$120.00 at farmers markets - Thus the money is there as for the pads we use cocofiber not coco coir you are right there coco coir would fall apart like hemp and felt mats. The LEDs are custom made for us by a leading LED manufacture to our specs - thank you for your comments
John & Larry & Mrs. Larry : Y’all are freakin’ AWESOME!! Thank you for sharing, and keep on doing what you’re doing. This planet is getting better and better because of people like you!
John, I had to stop your video. I was laughing so much when you said, "What's the fascination with growing lettuce?" Then I had to go back and hear it again, and laughed until I choked, again! Okay. I've composed myself, somewhat. Continuing to listen...
I watched this entire video, thank you so much for all the info! Contemplating it now in CT :) I'm sure TONS are now with covid and the lack of fresh nutritional food at the moment
Thank you for this great video. Wow, this was 4 years ago, I'm behind the times. John you're in Vegas? Me, too. Would love to get going with microgreens. Awesome video. Thank you Larry for the knowledge. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm a 71 year old woman who was poisoned by my docs back in 2005, and have been fighting to get healthy again. I gained almost 100 pounds and I'm a tiny woman. I have been eating the carnivour diet.. mostly meat, and I"m losing weight, finally, but my hair is falling out and I feel terrible..I could do this in my home, I live alone and I need to try t get healthy again! Wow, this is it!!!
@@izzyh.3581 I have lost 72 pounds so far.. I am detoxing the poisons and eating only veggies and meat. I am getting my energy back and I"m feeling much better! Thank you for asking!
@@openyoureyes4799 hey! I am happy to hear you are heading in the right direction. It sounds like youre close to a keto diet. I just started keto and have lost 15 lbs in 2 weeks feeling great. Keto and intermittent fasting, which puts us in autophagy, very importantfor the body to heal. Anyway i wanted to ask you to please check out dr berg! I will link him here. He has so much info. I would love to see him meet these guys. Im very excited to start growing microgreens. Almost set up! Hope you have a great day. Thanks!
@@jetjaguar5200 Here's an update! I am now 72 and I've lost almost 70 pounds! I eat Keto, but limited. I never eat bread, potatoes, tomatoes, rice, cereal or any grains. I have taken years off my face and body and I feel great! I did a detox program with a natural doc...Dr. Cole, and after 5 months I felt like a new person! Now I am worried about the food shortage and I am thinking it's time to take my diet to a new level with organic, non GMO seeds..I found your channel again by accident and so here I am! I take Black Seed Oil, among other things like Coconut Oil and Olive Oil.
Very cool info! Thanks, John! But, in the water discussion you mentioned you wouldn’t drink Baltimore’s tap water. Baltimore’s drinking water is in the top 10 in the country! Even local breweries use Balt City water!
Wow. Interesting perspective. Have you considered slicing that with the SmartView Chrome extension: chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/threelly-smartview-for-yo/dfohlnjmjiipcppekkbhbabjbnikkibo
Man this is absolutely the very best Micro Greens teaching video I've ever seen. You and Larry are super crazy Cool to the Extreme. Y'all went through A to Z Colors, types, spectrum's, trays, pads, lighting, how to start to running full on. I've started an email chat with Larry he is a very nice man.. His phone is full of calls to the point Hus voicemail is constantly full of calls.....he is getting 50 plus calls a day.......y'all are my new heroes to the American..... Showing us how to Farm for our selves..... God bless y'all...... I'm a new sub Daymond chief Jones On RU-vid
Was that only seeds on the coco coir? The brown stuff looks like soil and I'm just making sure it's only seeds. I learned so much from this video thank you so much for posting this wonderful info
Some do like, carrot it taste just like a carrot, borage taste like a cool cucumber, broccoli has a bit of a bite and a little broccoli flavor, basil has a HUGE basil punch makes AWESOME pesto and fennel taste just like fennel so over all they do hope this helps
It's true, great money in growing Microgreens. I know from experience as I was a microgreens farmer and delivered to many restaurants in the Byron Bay shire in Australia. However, it's super time consuming, you do need a lot of family support and systems in place in case of issues that appear, I still grow microgreens and create videos for small space gardeners in an ozzie Vlog Style.
I literally took the time and signed into RU-vid so I could comment about minute 43:21. I laughed so loud my wife asked me what was funny. Thanks for the video John...great stuff : )
Thanks for this video and for sharing Larry with the world! What an amazing man and story. I am looking into City-Hydro now. I love their mission and feel a strong alignment with what they are doing for individual health, community health and planetary health! Love ya! ❤️
John your videos are so educational, and fun!! I really appreciate your passion and desire to give everyone autonomy over their lives.. less consumption, more independent growing! Have been enjoying your videos for years....Thanks! :)
Sounded like it. Not really that surprising considering the amount of trays he has there. Unless one has his own well the waterbill may very well be more than the electricity bill
I can tell ! Your slot like me ! You get all amped out talking about the industry and the activism you feel for our country and planet ! Thanks ! Like to meet you some day !
Also out of curiosity if the seed grows that quick does it reproduce? And you basically eat it right down to where there's no real seed bearing part of the plant left. Where to the seeds come from? Sorry I don't know a whole lot about this but it's really interesting
43:20 you are so freaking cute... thank you for sharing your passion, john! it means the world to me that there is someone else out there who is just as determined to grow as much of your own nutrient dense greens (macro and micro) as possible :)
Thanks so much for this awesome video John and Larry. Larry, you are so precious and I am so sorry about your head injury. I too had brain trauma due to an accident. Instead of giving up on life you decided to do something awesome. I pray that your business is always prosperous and you have abundantly good health! God Bless You!
The thing is , is he must have healed up pretty good from his diet , because he doesn't seem to have anything wrong at all with his faculties . The guy is very with it and seems to really love what he does . Awesome vid and two nice guys .
John, best video ever! I too was rear ended and messed up. Months later it caused a vertigo attack which almost killed me in the wilderness. Which prompted me to get a doctor who got me a nutritionist who caused me to have a heart attack. I went vegan and now I’m drug free and grow a lot of my own food. But in Boston it’s a long winter. I’ll be contacting Larry. Thanks so much. 🙏❤️
Hi Boston neighbor - from my family to yours from Westport. Have you done any of this training? We are contemplating it also. Hope you & your family are doing well!
Just wanted to say THANKS for sharing LARRY! To the people who say "click bait" ... think about all the meds you won't have to buy for you / your family and the money you will save on doctors... be thankful you clicked it!
🙋 Hi there. everyone talks about lettuce, because it's what is used in salads and in sandwiches. We don't think about microgreens for a salad, except to add some in a salad. 😘 it's way...cool that these folks found a way to make a living right in their home. 👍🏻
Not sure if it would work, but based on him saying, that the nutrition actually comes from the seed, (39:42) I think you will probably not get that much out of it anymore. I have no clue of plants, i'm just guessing this because it would make sense to me.
