My 8 year old son really wants to grow out his hair, and this helped us better communicate what he wanted both amongst ourselves and with our hair professional. Thanks!
I once had a barber and I would always tell him “Hey I’m trying to grow my hair out don’t take much off the top” but he would always cut the hair on the top that i was growing out and he would take like 2/3 inches off it and i’d always look bad with it because short hair just doesn’t fit me, but then I switched barbers and when I told him i was growing it out he completely understood and he was a cool dude about it and he took maybe at most .25 of a inch off the top and gave a great cut, if your barber is ever not listening to you and it happens more then 1 time just please switch barbers, for me it was perfect.
Just cut my hair for the first time in 13 years. I’m slightly thin in front so some styles won’t work for me. Currently have almost the sane style as the other mannequin.
Keep it up man! after 1 and a half years.. it'll gonna looks lovely. It will be long layered hair style. I myself been growing it out starting with a #3 guard all over my head. And ive been growing it out since February 2019. Its already 1 year and a half. And it looks lovely trust me!
he's just so sick of this subject lmao. There must be like 800 videos on this channel saying those exact same things and people still bother to ask for it over and over
@TheSalonGuy I could feel your frustration with the topic and the people who don't have common sense with this type of thing. Keep up your amazing work of sharing your knowledge of hair cutting (or growing) so less people have encounters with hack stylist.
Andy Dominguez I’m much further (4/5 month) it’s just a weird stage because my hair is long but not enough for the curtains to look right, it’s frustrating but i remember when i was at your stage ! Best advice i can give you is brush all to 1 side or just to the back, while some length starts to show. Good luck on your journey brother !
Im tryna get the curtains hair but in wondering can i even get curtains hair i have straight hair but its like thin or medium and i have a cowlick in the back so is it even possible for me to get curtains?
Brilliant as always Stephen, I’ve been growing my hair out for almost 6 months now. I'm trying to get a hairstyle like timothee chalamet because I have the same wavy thick hair type as him. Maybe you could make a video about his medium/long Wavy messy hairstyle next time PLEASE so I will know what to say to my barber. Thanks!! 🇵🇪
I've been trying to grow my hair out for about 5 months or so. I wish my barber knew as much as you do it would be SO helpful. Time to find someone who knows what they are talking about. This video helped a lot though.
Spent 5 months growing my hair went in just to get a style for my hair length. Told them I was growing a wavy flow, the guy cut 4 almost 5 inches off my hair. I was devastated. All those months shot right out the window. Sometimes the hardest challenge is going to new people who claim they know what they are doing to absolutely ruin your progress. Trial and error finding that person has been the biggest hang up for me. $40 haircuts down the toilet.
Yup, why I just trim my own hair but I cut top bit too short, & now I am freaking out, cause I took my aunt to get her hair cut & was watching & woman was getting little carried away, why I just have to figure out ways to wear it, until get it right, or if I do go to hair salon, it will be way longer so they can't mess my hair up. If I go now, they'll say I need a short hair cut, I don't want that cause summer and can still wear it up,of course I'm a woman,
been growing mine for 1 year and a half. Was thinking of cutting it because it was hard to get good hair days but I found out cold water was my enemy all along and that when I use hot water my hair gets super straight and soft and smooth so now im for sure not cutting it.
@@Lucas-up6ww Yeah cold water has many strengthening benefits for the whole body. You shouldn't wash your hair with hot water. It dries out the hair shaft, follicle and the scalp. The foundation of hair is the follicle so your essentially inhibiting growth and causing weaker hair by drying it and the scalp out. Healthy hair starts from a strong healthy follicle and moisturized scalp with sufficient blood flow.
@@inertmatter1945 I've been washing my hair with hot water with no problem, it won't cause damage if you don't use water thats too hot. I use it because I have low porosity and hot water helps open the hair. If you have dry hair from hot water it's because you have high porosity. It works very well for me. Cold water is what leaves my hair dry and hard to detangle. I have fine wavy hair but it's also thick (dense). Low porosity is know to get greasy very easily and hot water helps extend the amount of days I don't shampoo.
1:34 You can still get a haircut like that with curly/kinky hair. It’s just that it would have to be longer like 7-24 inches (depending on the texture) for it to fall down that far into your face even with the shrinkage, or you could get the same length, but it would just look different and shorter because of the shrinkage.
Listen guys that want to grow out your hair I've been growing mine for 16 months so I have some experience I started with an undercut the top was roughly 4.5 in on top and a 1 on sides and back and now it's pretty long I can wear it in a bun if I want the back is about 8 inches now and u may ask what did I do I didn't cut it at all not even the ends my ends are still very healthy I don't have any splits so there is my 2 cents.
@@saintlaurentdon7147 It's honestly up to you man you could just keep growing it or you could trim up the back a little bit and give the top and sides a chance to catch up, for me I didn't have this problem because is started growing my hair out when the top was down to my lip so when the back grew in it looked even but honestly if I was you man I'd just stick it out, if you wanna ask me anything else go ahead and shoot.
Jeremy thank you brother ! You know since I'm asian and I have straight hair right it is kinda annoying in this stage that may people call it "awkward phase" cuz I really CAN'T SYLE it or anything 😫 and it does look like shit rn. But I aint giving up tho just keep wearing a headband or tie my hair together so it may looks less "shitty" 😫😫😫. That's why I hate being Asian cuz we have straight hair smhh
@@saintlaurentdon7147 No problem I'm white but I have a ton of native American dna I have more native than European, so my hair is a mix between straight and wavy it kind of like long s shapes, but yeah I know having pin straight hair must be tough in this stage but where mines wavish around the 4-8 month mark the back ends would curl up and stick out and it was a pain but you can pull through you got this.
My biggest mistake is letting a stupid barber chop off my hair, I ask for a trim! I told and show him how i want it but he screwed it up so badly and try to give me an ugly short mullet! I was so pissed, mental breakdown, and depressed cause of my hardwork and journey that i has to going through during growing my hair out and i feel like my effort was useless :(
Stay positive man, right now is a great time to try and grow it out again. No one will even be able to see you go through the awkward stage since we all gotta stay inside
@@xdtony650 thx, but it will take a long long time to grow it back because after i get that haircut i go to another barber to get a buzz cut cause i cant stand with the haircut and the barber that f it up my long hair
@@Nevarez257 Nice and when you reach the awkward state don't give up and if someone says it go cut it off tell them to FUCK OFF because YOU can do whatever the FUCK you want with YOUR HAIR BE YOURSELF
I like that cut from the head sitting on the bottom right. How would I tell or explain that to my barber? Also is their a video about it? I can't find it.
I have crazy volume straight hair, and currently im in quarantine with my hair in the akward stage and I feel that i have the same hair as goku..I wish I could go to your barber shop.. The last 3 different barbers which i went here in my country arent profesional.. :l
If you wanna achieve something, try not to rely on others and go for it by yourself as much as possible.... My teacher used to say this to me. Now i just cut my own hair in front of the mirror for 2 years now. In the beginning, i fucked up only once and later on i can do any type of haircut on myself. Now, i even cut hair for my family members during this quarantine.
Every girls be like oww i like your hair it's so silky and smooth and me struggling everyday to fix my hair backwards with fixers but my hair be like wtf why you're pushing me backwards 🙃
Help me out here. So basically what I need to do is: ask for above my ears and my neck to be cleaned up and then grow the top out so as the sides will catch up? Should I leave my sides as they are right now? They're about medium length
How can you trim around your ears without losing length? Any long hairstyles I see look like they’re long even from around the ears so this part confuses me
he keeps saying "Just Grow out your hair" for advice. But he is talking about what you should do about styles and what you should have your hair be growing from I think. There was no tips on how to grow you hair though. But I have some. 1. Use conditioner everyday. Make sure to get it into your roots but not directly on your scalp. Start at least 2 inches away from the scalp. 2. Moisturize everyday 3. DO NOT USE SHAMPOO EVERY DAY. This is important for many reason but basically just make sure to wait at least 3-4 days THEN you can use shampoo. It is not good to use shampoo too much. If you really wanna grow your hair faster just quit shampoo and stick to conditioner. 4. DO NOT BLOWDRY YOUR HAIIIRRR DO NOOOOOOOT! Also do not dye it or put any products in it except moisturizer. 5. DO NOT take hot showers. That can damage your scalp. Use lukewarm water when showering and washing your hair. 6. Make sure to take care of your hair. Try not to get your hair too dirty and don't pull it too hard. (Scalp damage) That's all. I used these tips for like 4 months and my hair grew almost 7 cm :) also i started out bald so yeah...
@@mouses_HK i mean that guy just literally being sarcastic or i'm being sensitive because i suffered alopecia areata back then. But still you're right.
Nabranes TwistyPuzzler just saw the new hairstyle video. Its all explained now...btw Salon guy - most of ur subscribers love ur videos like me - doesnnt matter if ur bald or have hair dude. Ur the best mens hair vlogger bro!
