You can grow peppers indoors easily if you follow a few simple guidelines. Grow your hot peppers in a slightly acidic soil. Keep the soil moist but well drained. Give adequate lighting by supplementing with fluorescent grow lights, led, or other types.
Initially, fertilize with a healthy amount of nitrogen as well as the other elements. Once you have established good vegetative growth, you need to cut back on nitrogen. If not, you will have a nice looking plant with few peppers. Use a fertilizer with a 1:2:2 ratio. For example, a 8:16:16 fertilzer.
you shoiuld get peppers at about 3 months after transplanting a seedling. Harvest jalapenos at any time. If you stress your plant with watering and fertilizer, you can get hotter peppers. This is one time when caring for your plant properly decreases your success ( at least if you want your peppers spicy).

I agree that depriving the plants makes for hotter peppers. I grew jalapenos in the Virginia clay and they almost zero care because didn't seem to need it compared to everything else. The soil has very little in the way of nutrients, and I swear those jalapenos were hotter than most habaneros I've had.

I take a lighter, and burn holes on the bottom edge of the cup on 4 sides. That allows for drainage.

Can we grow peppers in winter time at home in a pot? Do we need special treatment or next to window care is enough for that?

Can you bring pepper plants inside un the winter? Mine been growing outside in the ground for about 1&1/2 or 2 months and are about 6 to 12 inches tall and haven't produced anything yet. They're just now growing. US that normal? They're by 2 big sunflowers that I didn't plant the birds must have let a treat? Also found cannabis growing from the birds. Anyways I want to bring my peppers and tomato plants in but don't know if it's possible? Thank you love your video.

Sunflowers can inhibit growth of other plants or too much nitrogen fertilizer.

My peppers indoor has a lot of bloosoms. Is that mean from each bloosom peppers will grow? Do tey need bees to come and do ther job? Or proceese will hapend with out bees?
@davidisaacson9328
@davidisaacson9328 Год назад
Yes! Get as many bees as you can...and bring them inside to pollinate them. J/k😝 Don't do that! All you need is a light breeze from a fan, or you can use a small, fine pointed painters/detail brush and brush all of the flowers with it. Pepper plants are "self pollinators" Good luck!

This is my 1st time to bring them in and trying to save them for next year. i usually cut them down and restart from seeds again. I grow Fat Cayenne, Orange Habaneros The Jalapenos are cheaper just buy them from the stores picked. Cayenne and Habaneros IS . Right the reverse! Cheaper to grow them. This also gave me more room, to grow my favorite 2 peppers I do dearly love my Jalapenos! But it cheaper just buy them at the store picked, 68 cents a pound! I can't grow them that cheap

Sure they're cheap but what are they using to grow them that cheap? I'd rather know what's on my peppers than get the cheapest ones possible.

@@christopherpcline I have some Orange Habaneros and Fat Cayenne are now coming on 4 years old. I just brung them in. Let the pepper finish ripen off. then i trim them down. THERE NOW PEPPER TREES I love them. i baby them to. I didn't even know that you could over winter them. Yes you can! THAT GIVES YOU A BIG HEAD START ON FRUIT 👍👍all they do is put on more branches and fruit. when i bring them in and the fruit is ripen. I don't let get over 4' tall! when inside. During the spring and summer they get around 7 to 8' tall. and LOADED WITH PEPPERS Just keep with what you like and use the most of. YES when you trim them can make clones from the trimmings. THIS GIVE YOU ANOTHER BIG HEAD START. RATHER > Than growing from seeds

It’s winter in NY, can I still grow hot pepper in my apartment? What if I don’t have the light? Can I just have it sit by the window once the sun comes out?
@InfectedChris
@InfectedChris 3 года назад
I have. I had a small apartment with some window space that was enough to fit those mason jars on. I had probably 10 jars and got hundreds of peppers. Enough that I was able to make a lot of crushed peppers for like a year and have a bunch to my mom. I make due with what I have. And this is in Boston.

@@Jupe367 You definitely can! Not in that apartment anymore but yeah the mason jars with a little drainage in the bottom worked great! I got so many hot peppers and they were a Thai kind as well. I've actually got some seeds started for the little area outside of my door so I can plant them outside soon. The cold weather keeps coming back though!

1) 1 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide to 1 gallon of water, for the initial drenching(should kill most gnats/aphids and their larvae) 2) Use about 1" of sand and add that to the top of the soil. 3) Take them outside and spray them down with a diluted water/Neem oil solution.

I have mine under two grow lamps I bought from home depot. The bulbs where more expensive then the lamps. My peppers wont stop making blossoms not sure if I should cut them off because they are indoors and not in the sun. Not sure if I'm going to regret letting them flower.

Great video. I do not believe the stress is good for the peppers. The heat is caused by capsaicin. It is produced by the plant to prevent mold. The more humid conditions the plant is exposed to the more capsaicin it produces therefore the spicier the peppers will be. This is why the world’s hottest peppers are from tropical climates. Great info on how you plant it though
