Good info. I have been sprouting seeds for 30+ years. Mainly to feed to animals but also for myself. Glad you mentioned how many different ways there are to do this and to leave jars in kitchen. They are easy to forget. I would add that in warm weather, even with a/c, I would try to rinse 3 times a day. A few degrees makes a big difference in speed of sprouting AND growing mold. Thanks for the video. Laura
I found that sprouts go real fast now because its summer, when it was a heatwave it got to around 38.c in the kitchen some didnt even sprout. at least those 45.Celsius days have gone for a while.
I have been sprouting and growing microgreens for about a year now, I eat them I juice them and put them in salads. I make a salad of fermented vegetables, sprouts and microgreens together. delicious. This was a wonderful video full of energy thank you you're the best.
Eduardo Salcedo Sr: I don't understand how I can be the best while it's you that are the best!! Thank you for the kind words. Keep in mind that I do requests too...
@@BetterDoneYourself I make kombucha, water kefir,, milk kefir, yogurt, and of course fermented vegetables all of that I learned it from you. between yourself and Ronald Moscoso's Chanel I went from Being a very sick man to just being a sick man by the end of this year I'm almost sure I will not be a sick man any longer.
I soaked Mung beans overnight and by morning they had a little tail about 1-2mm long even in the soaking water. but its summer here and hot even in the kitchen. I have tried Teff but its such a small seed you loose some till they start to sprout, and Lentils are nice.I have about 6 different seeds in a jar, for a nice mix, i even put some aniseed or fennel in there too.
Thanks, John. Your videos are great, and I've learned a lot from them. Here's a question, have you tried growing soil sprouts? I'm having good success with them. I'm following the method from a book called Year-Round Indoor Salad Gardening. I like the soil sprouts better than water sprouts.
I have but I didn't like dealing with all the old roots and dirt and composting. Having a couple jars right next to my sink reminds me to take care of them. I end up with dried bowls of seedlings with the dirt method. I'm glad to see you got the right book, though!
Is there a difference between “sprouts” and “micro greens”? Is it that sprouts are soaked for root growth in the dark, and micro greens are actually planted and hit with grow lights to start producing leaves?
For the benefits of sprouting broccoli seeds, search for "Rhonda Patrick broccoli sprouts" on RU-vid to learn about sulforaphane via sprouting broccoli sprouts.
Michael Greger (of nutitionfacts.org--watch out for the vegan propaganda!) and Chris Masterjohn (look for the folate videos on his channel) also talk about their benefits.
