I always thought about doing that. So dry them first? They don't shrivel up? On a scale of 1 to 10 how good you think they are compared to trout magnets?
@@cdawgg7348 just lay them on a rock for a few minutes. They will get kinda tacky and stick together better. They probably will dry up if left out too long. I love trout magnets. I've had one trip and that was the only thing that's worked. Then again I thrown everything at a hole including Berkley power bait , power bait worms, Trout Magnet and Trout Slayer. I threw a knockoff rainbow colored roostertail and the big Rainbow slammed it. This happened all of the time. I just had to go until I found something that worked. I found some moth larvae when splitting fire wood . Wacky riged one after throwing everything and wham. All this casting didn't seem to scare them away. In muddy waters after a rain , you won't believe how well a Rebel craw will work. Anyways , that particular day , at that spot , those eggs were getting hit every cast. Trout are strange sometimes. I fish 2 mountain areas where there are native and stocked. I have to figure out what they want every time. I know a guy who uses a eyeball from a trout. Hooks it and swears it works. I haven't tried it 😂. I will if nothing else seems to work. 😂
First fish I ever caught was a brown trout was beautiful as well made lil tacos out of the guy mad respect to that trout because he was the prettiest brown trout I’ve seen since
I just tried brown trout eggs 2 days ago while on a backpacking trip and I gotta say, without anything at all they are really delicious, fatty and not fishy at all
Now just add a couple pads of butter salt & pepper, fill with corn or cooked mushrooms. Then wrap in aluminum foil & cook over an open fire or on the grill. ;]
I've only caught a rainbow trout several times lol. Twice using Power Bait and the rest was from a worm. They are pretty yummy fish, season and fry nicely. I personally like the flavor of sunfish more lol 😆
Nightcrawlers/worms are pretty much a guaranteed way of catching trout. Also, trout will find the place in the water that has the temperature they prefer, and that location varies by time of day, and season of the year (water temps vary).
As a Oregon fisherman just saying if i were a ODFW OCIFER. Id be looking at you being it's illegal to gut a trout and clean it anywhere near a river lake or stream. Per regulation.

I learned this when I was around 5-6 years old maybe younger. After you have done this a bunch of times you can feel the side of the fish and feel the eggs bulge.
I wish there were more opportunities to catch rainbow trout here in texas, im forced to wait for stocked trout in december and january then they all get caught, ate by bass, or die from the heat by May.😭
Grew up catching these on the truckee river that flowed at the bottom of the mountain I lived on. Gotten thousands of these and never knew I could cut the head halfway and pull everything out. I always felt bad gutting the females not because I felt bad for the fish itself but those eggs are all trout I didn't get a chance to catch the next year
It is totally possible it's best to do when the eggs are more mature and no longer stuck on the membrane and mixing with the male trouts milk and cold river water in a bucket, the eggs would need to be placed in a system that keeps them agitated slightly ( tumbles the eggs slowly and gently until they hatch
Same, I was 4 or 5. I dont even remember xD Near the Hiawassee Dam. Beautiful place, haven't been back since I was a kid. I caught a huge bass that same day, my family had to help me reel it in. Of course, for little me, "huge" was probably like 2 pounds. 😂

You can tell how far we’ve fallen but what people find gross or disgusting with food. Oh you found a bone? You don’t say? It’s not like eating other animals whole is found anywhere else on earth.
In Germany it's illegal catch trout when they are spawning. In general, I would advise you to try and check if they have eggs and if yes, then release it. That is so long as they aren't a ecological problem as in being invasive to other species of trout etc.
Every year, our county hosts a fishing frenzy. They take chlorine from a pool and put rainbows and palominos in there. When we get home, we cut the fish and eat. It’s really good. If you like fish, i recommend trying trout.
