Some orthodontic "emergencies" or mishaps, can be handled easily at home without coming to the office. This video will illustrate the most common types and their fixes!
Yeah okay y'all better go back to them and have them fix any mishaps cause ain't now way they be charging an arm and three legs for braces for me to be stressing and fixing my teeth at home myself 😂😂
am i the only one who finds it diffucult to put the wax in....especially for the bk tooth, like i think i cant keep the area dry, n it just comes out not long after putting it in, and i need it to cover the bracket and wire which came loose, causing a sore cheek
I had 2 brackets come off and the whole wire was poking my gum i trued nail clippers it doesnt work but if you use scissors to bend it a little then cut it it works and i feel much better
I am trying to cut the extra piece of wire at the last part ...wish me luck 🙂 Edit: and guess what my nailcutter didn't work ..instead it's edge is deformed 😅. I guess tomorrow I will visit my doctor ✌️
Quick tip: if you have a long wire that’s poking you in your mouth (in the back)just bend it back and forth lightly and it should come off. You shouldn’t have to use a nail clipper because it’s going to break off closer to the next bracket and you won’t feel it poking you anymore.
That may work sometimes, but it depends on the type of wire we use. Some are meant to be long and cinched (curled or tucked in) to prevent it from pulling out. You may also break the bracket if you put too much pressure on the wire.
@@daissyromero7694 get a finger nail clipper or toe nail clipper and clean it and if u ion have one and just put it at the part and cut it that’s what I did at least
What should I do if the brace isn't loose or broken, it's just bent? One of the brackets near the back of my mouth is bent in/collapsed to where it would be difficult to get the wire out.
So my last bracket fell off and the left wire dont hurt me but Im worried if this is going to have a negative effect on the whole braces because Im in the second week and my orthodontist tell me that my visit will be after 1 week. Should I be worried?
I got braces 2 weeks ago and my next appointment is in 3 days but my wire has popped out of the last bracket and it bent a little, so i cant stick it back in, and its also bent on the other side, but it hasnt come out. Should i be worried about treatment delay
Idk what my orthodontist did but they put brackets on my bottom molars a week ago, the wire attached to them are two completely different wires than the one connected to the rest of my teeth. They’ve come out of the brackets on my molars, is there any way I can put them back in?? I just got it fixed last wednesday (3 days after they put the wire and brackets on) and they already broke again. I’d rather not have to drive to my orthodontist again cause it’s about 1h 20m drive for me. They come out so easily too, I was eating soft foods when they broke out of the bracket. I can’t eat anything harder than a sandwhich because I recently had a jaw surgery (overbite correction)
I wish I knew exactly what is going on here. I'm sorry as without seeing what is done I can't offer advice, other than it should not keep popping out. Congrats on being past your jaw surgery though! That's a big deal and will be worth it once you are done! Just make sure your orthodontist knows how far you have to drive and how frustrating this is for you! Best of luck!
@@drdougortho THANK YOU i had a pokey wire at the top left and wax wouldn't stick on it (wasted 1/4 of the orthowax they had provided me with just for it to fall off) and this helped a lot!
I have a question I need help getting a tooth out but I have braces and I don't want to mess my braces up what should I do to get the baby tooth out because it's only hanging on the wire
Without seeing it's hard to say. Don't know if you mean the wire came out of the bracket, OR if the bracket detached from the tooth. Either way you should stick wax on it temporarily until you call/see your orthodontist to fix it!
@@samnuebel Is it you can't get there? Or they refuse to see you? You should never be told to wait if you are in pain/discomfort (at least we never do that!) They sell dental wax at any pharmacy, pick up some and that will hold the bracket from spinning and being annoying. But if you're not in pain, its ok to just leave it all alone until you are seen?
My nail clippers wont cut the extra wire and I cant eat at this point. There’s an open wound in my mouth that the wire stabs every time I bite. How do I cut the wire?
Like the video shows, try a nail clipper or wire cutter. Make sure to not lose the end you cut though so you don't swallow it! If you can't cut it, keep wax on the poking end.
Every time after I go to my orthodontist the far back wire keeps coming out of the bracket how do I fix this? It doesn’t cause pain or anything its just a nuisance and a pain to clean.
You can try to put it back in yourself but it's hard without the right instruments. Please let your orthodontist know it's a recurring issue so they can cinch (lock in/curl in) the end of the wire to prevent this
@@sorrow2460 usually not something that has to be fixed immediately, but best to not wait if your appointment is a month away. Make sure you are not eating anything you are not supposed to that may be causing this to happen.
omg i just noticed rn the gums that were poked looked so swollen and soft like infected im scared to trim it what if theres infection why didnt i feel pain and only noticed it now😭
Just cut my upper right wire behind the last tooth with wire cutters because it kept sharply cutting in my cheek... can't find the piece I've cut (maybe ate it idk) aaand it's very sharp now.. ugh..
I just want to remove my braces bc I don’t want them anymore and I haven’t been to the orthodontist in a couple of months bc me and my mom got into a car accident. Now we don’t have a car to go anywhere so I just want to remove them and get Invisalign.
I'm sorry to hear about the accident, but there's no safe way for you to take them off yourself. To switch to invisalign will also cost your mom more, so maybe not the best idea. Good lucj
Yeah okay y'all better go back to them and have they fix any mishaps cause ain't now at they charging an arm and three legs for braces and just over dental for me to be stressing and fixing my teeth at home

@@drdougortho i can't go to the dentists. it's a long story but i can't. the only way to get rid of my brackets is to remove them on my own. can I somehow dissolve the glue so that i can easily remove the brackets? is there any substance that you dentists use to remove the glue? i want to put the glue remover on my ceramic brackets and then i want the glues to be dissolved and then i will easily remove the brackets. is there any way that i can do that? i will buy it. i just need you to tell me which glue remover i should use.
@@maskedbodybuilder4020 we don't use anything to dissolve the glue. We have special instruments to remove the brackets the glue off. There is no safe way to DIY this. You need to see an Orthodontist to avoid permanent damage that you can cause.
@@drdougortho like i said i cannot go to the dentists. it's not about financial issues, it's a long story. a few months ago i used nail scissors and pliers to remove the brackets but i broke a few of my brackets i couldn't remove them. i just need to find a way to remove my ceramic brackets safely..
@@_.theoriginalbrie2954 Exactly how mine was. You'd think the Ortho would know if a wire would start hurting their patient in the future. The wire was and inch in my cheek. Had to go in for an emergency appointment at 8 AM! And I had midterms today. When they cut it I had INSTANT relief, sadly I have an infected cold sore.
