Thanks for sharing this! My sister and I have been wanting to get a floor to ceiling barn door put on a basement room but weren't sure if it was possible. This video has been SO informative!
I’m prouda you!!🙌🏻 I’m partially closing in a large living room in a condo to make a quaint 3rd bedroom for my purposes. Thought I would need to put in real or faux beams to give a cross bar for a barn door but Thanks to you!, I can now attempt this w/o the beams 🤔🤔 We shall see what ‘man’ says 😅 …I’m completely ready for an ‘It can’t be done’ 🙄😜 🫵🏻You’re an inspiration and I appreciate you posting👍🏻
it was simple problem to solve. just need to know what to do. i would add a 1/4in washer between the cassette and bracket. the choice of bracket is also wrong. for a light weight door its ok. use a 1.5 or 2 in. x 36 in. Plain Steel Angle with 1/8 in. Thick bracket and flush it with the door for extra strength. Make sure to attach the cassette to the bracket first then drill holes to flush the cassette screws into the door. that way you can screw the bracket from top and side. that will give you a clean 1/4in or less gap between the rail and the door top. IN any case this was a great find. awesome job getting it done. always easy to improve once someone had made the mistakes. Appreciate the help.
Just ordered my accurride carriage set & track! Thanks for the great idea!! Now to figure out the counter sink drill bit. Guess I need to know how big the screws are first?
Planning on installing 2 ceiling mounted barn doors because the threshold from floor to ceiling is open. If I contact accuride, will they provide me with all the parts I need to do this project? The Website lists all the pieces you mentioned individually.
The 116 maybe more robust, but the extra $267 per cassette is a bit much for an interior barn door diy. Probably better suited for a different setup. The 115rc is $67 a cassette.
I'm very confused as to how you reattached the cassettes to the door WHILE they were on the track. How did you fit a wrench between the door and the ceiling?
So how much for all of the hardware needed for the project? Is this a Kit or a list of all needed parts / prices. Unless I'm reading the site wrong it's looking like 750-1000 JUST for the hardware? Tell me I'm wrong!
I just went and double checked because it’s been a bit since I built this but no. I got the AL0115 aluminum Track not pre drilled for $90 and then two SS0115 cassette with steel bearings $70 so it is about $300
@@EternalHarvestDecor thats qhat you were doing but then something broke so you said you had to install cassettes first. Or did I hear that wrong??? I will have to rewatch because I believe the first way didnt work for you. I have this task coming up real soon and want to be successful. Thank you!!!
Haha you’re right! It’s been a while! I actually put the cassettes in and then put the door up and got in the closet to attach with a wrench from the back. I did lift it up with some shims to make sure there was clearance at the bottom. Good luck!
