How to Hard Reset Canon Printers and Fix Common Errors

Thank you! It worked for me. I didn't have an error message but no ink would come out of the print head. After thoroughly cleaning the print head no change. Did your reset and boom- printing full color again!!

YOU ARE THE BEST! Luckily it wasn't garbage collection this week as my Canon MG5420 would have become landfill. I had the dreaded B200 error message. After replacing all the ink cartridges (generic) and performing various reset versions, I gave up. Then I found yours! Your hard reset did the trick! Brilliant tip, I have the Canon Maxify MB5150 which I thought I had broke by forgetting to take a sticker from a cartridge. Spent about an hour trying all sorts to get rid of the B203 message and this worked a treat. Thank you, I thought I was going to have to chuck this printer.

Thank you very much for the hard reset tip. My Canon MP258 AIO was continuously giving B200 error message. I cleaned the cartridges, the print head, the head contacts, changed the cartridges etc... but nothing worked. Still the dreadful B200 error message was there. I was going to throw the printer & just then I came across your video & thought, “no harm in trying” & it worked!!!!! 😂 Bundle of thanks!

My MG5750 indicated the code B204, which several sites said was termina,l but after following your tip is now back operational again, it took 2 or 3 attempts but I can live with that. Thanks a bunch.

How do you reset it when the Stop button is a touch rather than a physical one? I had error B203 and can't get rid of the 'refer to manual' message.

On the newer PIXMA TS5150 it's "press 20 times" not 5 times. And it worked! Saving me a visit to a Canon engineer that would cost more than a new printer...

such clear instructions, thanks so much! I was able to get to the menu but any attempt to print or use any of the options to test the ink etc gets me back to the same error 6502. I used this printer with edible colors to print on edible paper. Any other suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you much!!

something was jammed on printer so the flash went on but when i removed the foreign object it wouldnt turn off. which meant i couldnt print anything. Your video help remove the error message and my printer is working again thank you so much

thank you... after several times... it worked : ) I remember something about the lights "blinking" faster or slower after you hold the reset button down. A year or so... I had to rest mine and I really didn't remember how. Thank you for your video. Sometimes, people have to reset several times before it will work... try to have patience people. It took me several tries since the night before but today after watching a part of this video... I tried again and it worked : )

Hello, I have a mg5650 and I can't get access to service mode I follow the steps but the light does not flash at the end of the process although if I repeat the process with pressing the cancel button only four time I have the normal screen but nothing work is that the service mode? thank you

I have just tried this for a B203 error code on my Canon MG7550 and IT WORKED!! I located the STOP button and marked it with a dry marker (only illuminates when power is switched on) so that I knew where to push before I pressed the power button. Then I followed all the steps, the only difference being that I had to turn the machine off myself as it didn’t shut down at the end of the process. Once I turned it on again....TA DAH!! Thank you for preventing another machine from ending up in landfill!

I have the same printer as this MG6851 I have tried the hard reset as your vid does and it still keeps coming up with error "install the appropriate ink code 1750" When I do the hard reset it still flashes orange just before the last power on button sequence Help

Do you have anything about how to reset a Canon Pixma PRO-100 series? I keep getting the error on my Mac saying the printer is not connected and the printer is connected via USB. Also have trouble using AirPrint...

Thank you very much, I fixed my broken Canon MG7770

Tried with my MX922, 1st using 4 pushes of stop button as suggested by one of the other respondents - printer quiet and wouldn't respond to on/off button. So tried sequence using 5 pushes on stop button and at least it has printed off a show ticket I desperately wanted. Hopefully printer will keep on printing now.

thanks for video tried this on an MG4250 printer reach stage 4 - orange light flashing display screen blank? It doesn't shutdown automatically. If I power off and on again I get the same annoying error code 1303 paper jam. (Trust me have tried checking front /back shutting down etc no paper anywhere.) Any ideas anyone please?

Almost, but it never turns off after doing that procedure. After I power it off and on again myself it returns to it's previous error code.

Did your instructions and now the power button won’t even power it up. Arrrggghhhh…. Time to unplug and start again w/troubleshooting. Glad to see in the thread this helped resolve their issue. For me, back to the drawing board.😭

i had a Canin Pixar MX922 with error messages - I think it was bad print head or it needed to be reseated or installed - could never get it to work so after the year I had it - it is now in a junk heap - maybe this method would of fixed it - Thanks

Hi there, this is a great video and I tried it. Unfortunately my printer Canon TS5051 didn't get fixed and is still just printing blank pages! I've tried loads of things. Any ideas why or what I can do other than buy a new printer please? Many thanks 😃

Great video, I tried your reset method on my Pixima MG 4250 problem but it did not clear the 1702 ink absorber almost full message. I’ve removed the ink absorber pads and cleaned them, any idea how to reset the counter please.
