Canon MX922 Inkjet Printer B200 Error | 3 Things to Try Before Throwing It Away 

I have probably used this "hack" about 5x now. It keeps bringing my baby back to me. Thank you so much!

You are a genius mate!~ It is now 20 minutes later & I have rinsed the print head in warm water, reassembled the printer & it works perfectly. You have just taught an 80 year old a new trick. Second time Ive had to remove the printhead to unclog it. This video is so much faster and easier than reading through printed instructions which I did the first time which was almost two years ago. The lesson for me is that I need to do a cleaning through the printer maintenance function occasionally.

My MX922 gave me the B200 code and was worried the fix would cost more than the $320+ I paid for my Canon. Fortunately, you took the time to share your experiences with anyone interested and your fix worked the first time. Like you, I don't know how long it will last, but given the fact it's working again is a wonderful thing. Thank you very, very much for your help! I had the prior MX printer for over 8 years, and finally had issues with it. I replaced it with my MX922. I then dried it with a hair drie and left it for two hours. It has worked perfectly. I am 82 - even older than your last contributor, but I hope a lively - and am very grateful.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Anyone who comes across this video, this is a TRUE testimony. IT WORKS but it may take a few tries to reboot the printer after cleaning. Keep reading here. We followed the cleaning instructions to a T, reseated and restarted the printer (we had to slide the tray manually as the printer did not center it as shown on the video but, hey, it worked). Then started it up, everything looked fine, sent a document to be printed ... and then ... B200 error again. Aaarghhh. Took all the ink cartridges out, removed the print head, re-seated it, put everything back together again, and after a few minutes, the printer was fine. Fingers crossed, we did a test page, waited what seemed like an eternity of whirring and humming and self-adjusting, and finally it printed a test page. It was not perfect, some printed lines weren't quite aligned. BTW, MAKE SURE your ink cartridges are not nearly empty. But I tested it with a regular Word document, and it worked perfectly or rather, just as imperfectly as before the B200 error. Our printer is nearly 7 years old, and given the longevity of electronics these days, I'd say that's pretty darned good! MUCHAS GRACIAS, if you don't have one yet, you deserve an "ECO Hero of the Century" badge!

This has saved my printer TWICE over the last six months! The second time, I didn't have time to let the printhead dry overnight, so I shook out the excess alcohol and placed it in front of a high-powered fan for 20 minutes- it worked! Thank you for helping those of us who can't afford a new printer!

Brilliant thanks. By far the best advice on B200 error on utube . Clearly spoken, demonstrated, and logical. Worked for me after trying everything. Soaked printer head overnight and flushed with warm water. Dried off in draft of open fan oven. Others give ridiculous advice such as taping off electrical contacts and losing colour printing!

I followed your instructions and it worked, the B200 error is gone and she is printing again! I did notice that my black printer cartridge would not release ink initially (PGBK 250XL), so I did a cleaning of the ink jet nozzles multiple times solving the issue. OMG! We had 2 Canon MX922 printers with the B200 Error and we watched this video, followed instructions in removing the print heads and swished them in warm water until the ink stopped flowing out of the heads. We let them dry over night. Now both printers are working perfectly again!! We are so delighted! Thank you so much for this video to help us get our beloved MX922s back to functioning! Fantastic video!! May I add as a tech that should you use isopropyl alcohol--which is a great idea--use lab grade 99.9 percent formula. It will dry much faster and won't damage the green copper point electrical contact board. This is the first video that I've seen that thoroughly explains a common problem with Canon printers. Excellent.

I want to thank you for the clear instructions and video on how to remove the printhead, clean it and put it back in place. Previously I had the printer do a self cleaning, which helped briefly. Well done video. It was clear and easy to follow. I wanted to add my success story to the list. I was getting the B200 error with my MG6320 and I washed the print head twice: warm water followed by IPA soak - ERROR - warm water, IPA again - SUCCESS. (The MG6320 takes 6 cartridges, but otherwise very similar.) On the second go, I took a Q-tip and very gently wiped the pins in the printer that contact the print head. As an aside - IPA is NOT rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol contains oils and does not dry residue-free. I should add, too, that IPA is a desiccant. It will absorb the water and speed the drying process.

Can't thank you enough. I had to watch through a few times and then follow step by step, pausing the video as I went along. But I now have a working printer! And now that I know it works, it will be a lot easier and less anxiety-causing if I have to do it again.

I cleaned the print head and still had the error. I then did the first hack of resetting the cartridges when turning on the printer and that worked! Awesome. Thank you so much!!

I have to say thank you for this great fix video for my Cannon MX 922 printer. I replaced all the ink cartridges first. No fix with this move. Then I tried the opening the document cover, and the ink cover. I waited until the ink cartridges moved to the left. I shut the cover, and on the first attempt the B200 error code was gone, and my printer rebooted! A very easy fix, and a well done video on the removal of the B-200 error code on the Cannon MX 922 printer

I did the following advice from your video: lifted the top cover, then lifted the ink are cover, turned off the printer, waited a few seconds, then turned the printer back on and as soon as I heard the ink cartridge move, I closed the first cover and then the second cover, and waited for the printer to finish booting up. (I forgot to remove the ink) And it worked!!! I don't have the error anymore!!! Thank you so much!!!

Thanks so much for this video. Following your instructions, I was able to remove, clean, and replace the printhead, and get my printer working again. Like you, I was AMAZED at the amount of ink that rinsed out of it. Even after soaking in a homemade solution of filtered water, alcohol, and a tiny bit of dish detergent, there was still a lot of ink. I repeated the process several times before it was completely clean.

You're my printer's savior! I changed all empty cartridges to new ones, and ran a deep cleaning on my MX870, then it printed!

This was a real pain in the a... but after three days cleaning the printhead with different things, finally I was succesful by usin a detergent that the Dollar Tree sells for $1.00 called Wow, then I put it back and didn't work, so I put new ink and didn't work either. When I was about to give up I try the method of opening the cover and the ink cover and waiting for the cartidges to go to the left, I did that twice and didn't work but then and pray and did it again and it worked. Praise God. I didn't want to spend money in a new printer. Thank you very much.😀😀

Thank you so much you have saved my MX925!!! The video is really well done, I had almost lost hope until I found it. To solve the B200 error I had to rinse the printer head in hot water, then I dried it using both a hairdryer and compresser air. Problem solved, thank you once again!!!

Thanks for this video to help narrow down the problem on a very old Pixma MP620B. Before I was going to try to soak the printhead as you suggest, I tried one other fix. I used some electromechanical switch contact cleaner (available from electronics shops) to clean the contact surfaces on the printhead that interface to the gold pins inside the printer. That seems to have fixed the B200 error. So it seems that contact problems on that interface (maybe due to oxidation or dirt) can cause the B200 error as well. We'll see how long this repair lasts.

It works! I tried the first hack right away and the code cleared getting me out of my immediate problems. I'll try cleaning the head next.

I love my MX922--it has all the functions I need. After long service, I did get the B200 error. The printhead-washing procedure unfortunately didn't work for me (maybe I should have repeated it?), but a new CA$40 printhead from Amazon did, and this video showed me how to remove the old one and replace it. Thank you so much for a great instructional RU-vid video, which is very easy to follow. I have a Canon mx926 printer, which is almost the same as the mx922. Following your steps, I was able to resolve the B200 error I was getting (for how long, only time will tell). In my case, I washed the print head in warm water only, for about 20 minutes or more. Just a crazy amount of ink was still in the print head. Then left to dry overnight. Unfortunately the B200 error occurred immediately after putting everything back, but after powering off and back on, and doing step 2 again (close door at half-way point when when ink cartridges moving to the left) I was able to get into the maintenance menu and run the normal cleaning cycle. I did this 3 times, each time selecting Yes to print the nozzle test page, and noticing an improvement each time. After that, the printer was back in business. It's painful to think that I threw out my previous printer (mx726) because of the same B200 error. It probably could have been revived in the same way.

It works! Required a lot of rinsing and soaking in warm water and 99% iso and water again to clean the head sufficiently. Dried, re-installed, got a B200 code. Crap! Tried a Deep Clean; ran outta yellowing black ink. Crap! Replaced yellow and black, did a "Clean," then a Deep Clean, and voilá! It works like new. Thank you so much Baba! 😀

Followed the steps and was working again... I stopped it in the correct position, mine wanted 2 replacement inks. And done... Ran the cleaning options. It's happy now... :-)

Thank you - it was your video that removed my Error B200 code on my Canon MG5560. The bit where you shut the lid whilst the carriage is still traveling to the left - whilst it's still moving - that got rid of the B200 error. Thank you. I need 2 fresh inks. My printer is very touchy about paper feed as well but at least I can print with it now. Great clear video instructions.

Thank you so much this worked for me. Incase anyone doesn't have replacement ink cartages on hand, i skipped that part and just went removing the printhead. Ran it under the water for 10 minutes until it can clear. I was impatient so I put it infront of my air vent (on high) moving it in all directions. Put it back in and it worked.

Thank you for the tips! I followed the steps to clean the print head. The error code is gone and the printer works. It saves me money to get an Epson printer as replacement, which does not use expensive ink tanks like the MX922 printer does.
