hello there , thanks for the great video! so i went to my near local radios shop to hook up everything for me with my new after market stereo and it worked for 2 months then the stereo stopped working. ( i think the watts on it were higher than the car can handle 80x4w ) my problem is with my constant/memory yellow wire it has 0 volts all the time no matter the car is running or not.. my red acc wire , black ground wire and the fuses on the car and the stereo are totally fine please do you know how i can fix the yellow memory wire?
Man! I feel either old-er or knowledgeable 🙂 "Back in the day" ... lol ... there were no harnesses and our wiring diagram was called a 12 volt test light and a notebook. Thanks for the memories.
Hi so I went to put in the aftermarket shit and he had one of them high and pert to RCA converters for the amp well they cut the fucking shit right at the stupid factory clip..it's a mess so thanks for the idea
Hi im dealing with 2 constant 12v battery wires trying to connect stereo harness wich only has the 1 yellow battery wire my stereo keeps smoking dont know what to do i twisted all 3 together smoked then taped 1 12v up put aside an twisted 2 smoked again now im stuck any help would be very much appriciated
Hi there, your video helped me a lot. I just installed an aftermarket android China made head unit with no ready harness and its working fine (no manual provided). My question is, is it okay to tap that ILL wire to the headlights for that to function? Thanks in advance.
when I measure with my multimeter I get a 12 v constant reading from a red wire(seems fine) then I get a 6.77 from a white wire(which when I turn the key on ignition falls to 4.77 wtf!!! I guess that is the acc 12 v and something is wrong with it...) and then there is a third wire that shows a reading 0.80 or something like that I guess that is the antenna color is white with a black stripe... any ideas what I am dealing with here? its a FIAT IDEA 2006 model! the stereo unit is turning on sometimes for a second or two and then goes dead... and then does it again but it rarely happens its mostly dead... because of insufficient power I guess... by the way i found no broken fuses anywhere... they all seem to be ok! and those are all the 3 positive wires so I cant think anything else the 4th is ground
@@AnthonyJ350 I went to a technician to get an opinion. He informed me that my car has no acc 12v by factory. He said there are cars that don't have this wire at all and I will have to extend and use some other wire. For now I created an extension of 12v constant and I made out of it 2 constants I unplug the unit for now until I come up with a better idea. Because even if I turn it off with the button it still shows time and date and I have no idea if this could drain my battery. Thanks for your response anyway!
Hey Bud Me again Lol I have a question and I know you will answer me quickly I have an older head unit Panasonic and it has 1 rca output right on the unit and then it has 3 wires that are rca's-sub out,CD.c In ,Aux which is the one my amp running my subs are suppose to plug into
If you have RCAs that are labeled sub, that's the one you want to hook up your sub woofer amp to. It will only put out lower tones that you set the head unit to.
I figured it out i plugged to sub out and I was able to have sub work while playing cd but not while using aux in sub would not come on so i plugged to back of H.U and it worked with subs while playing cd or aux in never did try the pre amp output but w/e it works so imhappy thanks again for your help Anthony
Great info!! With the help of your video, I was able to splice the factory radio connectors of my 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ without a single problem! After that I was able to put in a Jvc unit using the aftermarket radio wiring harness plugs! Thanks again friend!! You’re videos has had helped me so much
I have a 2000 dodge Dakota RT 5.9. Its missing the factory plug for the stereo l. Is there a way I can order a new one so I can install my pioneer head unit??
junkyard for sure!! I cut the connectors off out of a junked 1995-98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and spliced those into my 98 Cherokee XJ, same wiring colors and all. Was Quick and easy for me!
I just installed my head unit today and it was working great but as soon as I turned on my headlights my head unit completely shut off (it's spliced directly to stock wires, they were already cut)
OK, I admit I should have used a pro but I thought, "how hard can it be?" I tried to install a new double din apple car play radio in my daughters car. It is in and working but it wont turn off! I have the power connect to the constant 12V and the ground to ground. Where I think I messed up is that I connected the accessory wire from the new raid to a wire that is 12V when the car is off, but 3V when the care is on. The only other wire that I could use is one that powers up to 6V when I turn on the headlights. I'm stumped but I feel like I am 98% there. Can anyone help? This video was a huge help!
@@AnthonyJ350 Unfortunately, the original harness was gone and the wires were cut. I followed this video to ID - constant, ground, speaker wires. The last few I could find with power were the one I have connected to the accessory wire to the radio is at 12V when the care is off and drops to 3V when care is on. There are 2 other wires that show 6V when I turn on the lights then drop down to 0 in 5-10 secs. I appreciate your brain on this!
I have a 4 seater so my audio wires are 5 Right speaker +, Right Speaker- ,left speaker +, left speaker- ,and ground sld. I connected it correctly but I still get no audio
@@AnthonyJ350I have a toyota solara 2006 with a Hieha 7 inch double din touch screen radio that I'm trying to install. I'm sure I grounded it properly, but I'll just mess around once I get the tools I need, instead of looking at the diagram.
@@SaeJoeBackBaby You need to test the speaker outputs of the stereo. Also are you turning on the factory amp? Some are data turn on. What harness are you using?
@@AnthonyJ350 I'm not using a harness it's the main wires. I felt lazy to buy one but then realized I should of bought one. For the radio however it's a 2×8 pin. I was just planning to connect it to the the hard wire/ main wire.
I want to thank you because your video actually helped me out ! Went to buy that light up tool to help me determine what wire is what while vehicle is off, dashboard on, dimmer, ect 👏 My wires where different colors and made it difficult. I’m hooked up and radio is playing jams 🎉
