I have a gorgeous pile of compost. It was a larger Tumble and just when I thought it was full it shrunk. Over and over again. Took a full year to fill it right up. Since then we’ve purchased a smaller one. Think it’s same as yours. Much more practical. Will prob get another same size. Anyway. The big one has compost to a really good stage. Not fully finished but more than the one you showed. So I’m super excited to top my veg beds pre spring and summer plantings. Also top up pots. Hadn’t thought to make tea. So thank you. I’ll be doing that too. The big tumbler ghastly been under our mulberry tree. Wow as. We’ve never had a better harvest of berries. Our tree is loving it. So fun to know that whilst we recycle our waste, create compost. We are also fertilising our beautiful mulberry. Win win win

G'day Robyn. Loved this! I'm a huge fan of composting and I have a pallet bay composting system, a tumbler system and I do a hot compost pile from time to time. Really inspiring watching you make use of yours in different ways and it makes me want to get out there and get stuff done. Almost 8pm though, so that's not going to happen. 😁 All the best. Daz.

You do such great job with your composting technique. I 100% agree with your composting ideas and techniques. I learned how to do this from my parents as a small child and I taught my own children how to do it. Your videos are easy to understand and enjoyable to watch and learn. Thank you. 😊

So when you put the material in your compost bin, how do the worms etc get in there? And how long does it take before you can use it?

Hey gorgeous friend you know a joy this video immensely you and I share such a love of compost! I always tell people if you can’t do anything else because it helps reduce greenhouse gases, and it reduces how much trash out to put out to the road every week I am loving my place. It’s so easy and like you enjoy easy natural gardening! We had an insane hail storm. I did some damage to my garden. Definitely could’ve been worse.

Thank you for this video. I havee limited physical abilities but still grow a medium sized backyard garden. Been wanting to start making my own compost and been watching videos after videos trying to get answers on how and most of all a way that is more doable for myself. Your video has done that and more. And thank you showing the finished product, if I pulled the compost bin off and saw that I wouldve thought I hadn't done it properly since it didnt mulch all the way down, now I know better. Thank you. And taking it a step further and showing how you use the compost in many different ways is wonderful. I did change from inground gardening to raised beds this year and filled the beds using the huglekulture method along with digging a few trenches here and there to bury some food scraps. You can definitely tell the difference in the bed/soil/plants with the beds that i trenched the food scraps in vs the ones I didnt. That was a nice experiment. I now want to create my own compost to top my beds off with each year. And the insitu composting...what a great idea for making new beds!!!

Great video, so enjoyable to watch you top up garden beds & pots with that compost gold, love it, also enjoyed you planting out new plants & bulbs, i dig my food scraps straight into the veggie garden 🥗 & within days the worms break it all down the soil is just so beautiful, & worms are huge, nature is incredible, such an enjoyable process 💜 🌳

So glad you enjoyed the video :) I used to dig all the scraps into the yard - it's such a good way to increase worm activity :)

Hi Robyn thanks for showing your rough compost. I find mine looks a little like that too. Compost/mulch is great for veggie and garden. Retaining moisture in summer and breaking down clay. I upcycle shuttle containers from the farm.

Hey Barry! Hot composting is fantastic! I'd love to set up an area in summer where we can make fast compost with grass clippings. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday :)

How many months to make this compost? Could you write down in the description box? It will be more helpful for people who watch your video for the first time. Thank you for making the videos.

Great video again Robyn. Personally, I still use large PVC pipes in the garden with holes drilled all over them as my in-garden compost/worm bin. Putting a few scraps into each pipe and the worms do the rest taking the nutrients back through the garden - never have to empty them as the worms do the work. Probably the lazy person's way of doing it and that's why I love it 🤣😂.

Thanks Michael! That's such a great idea I need to try that! Eh I find lazy gardening always works the best for me - it's the most sustainable rather than hard work! 😂

Robyn thanks for the beautiful video about composting. It was SOOOOO relaxing to watch and listen to & super interesting too. I’m going to get some of these black systems for our school garden as our existing (off ground) tumblers take soooo long and cannot utilize worm power! I like the other commenters idea about the large PVC pipes with holes. These would look super cool decorated in our school kitchen garden beds. I always look forward to your videos. Have you considered making one in ASMR style? Blessings.

@@AppleTY2015 no problem. It works really well. Initially I bought a commercial one from Bunnings (Tumbleweed Worm Buffet) but as I wanted multiple throughout the garden went the PVC tubing route. Just make sure you have an end cap or lid on it to keep the light out and all drill holes below the surface. Mine are about 75m each with about a quarter above the ground. It'll work perfect in a school garden, might just need to make sure the kids aren't lifting the lid continually to see the worms 😂😂.

@@AppleTY2015 Thank you so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed. That's such a great idea for a school kitchen garden! I love hearing that composting is being taught in school - that's awesome! I've thought about ASMR and maybe one day might make another channel for relaxing videos, but we'll see! 🥰

What mulch do you use? is it sawdust or mowings of grass? Thanks for your videos, very helpful

To me, it looks like either sugar cane mulch or straw. Dried grass clippings work too though. I don't use green clippings as they tend to mat together.
