I was a quiet and gentle spirit naturally growing up ….then time after time people hurt me , hit me , or attacked me out of jealousy. Now I am cold and isolate when not at work and keep my guard up , even in my sleep

You dont have to guard yourself. I was very gentle and fairly quiet growing up. I have a narcissist brother and realized lotsa folks in society are. Getting backed into a corner time after time changes a person. But if we spend more time with Jesus alone in prayer. With the one who loves us more than anyone his Holy spirit will animate us when it comes time to interact with others. God bless you. I'm tired of being abused and feel so bad for fighting back the few times I have because it hurt me. I'm tired of people telling me who I am. What I am. What I've done wrong because I think different. But Jesus is truly my comforter. My healer. My love. My peace. My quietness.

I was alike i became vengeful but, I found it again. Go to Jesus, forgive those people, ask for forgiveness, and repent for your sins. It is hard to be mad at others when you realize just how sinful you are yourself.

Sometimes we forget that God has our back. I need to trust God more. It's so easy to love those who are easy to love. On the other hand, loving someone you struggle with is a forever present challenge.

Coming here as a muslim-everything in this video has been so helpful. I’ve noticed lately that I’ve become less and less gentle toward those I care about in an effort to protect myself, and I haven’t been happy. What you said about submission, accountability, and love are all so true. Sometimes people won’t treat you fairly, but that doesn’t mean you should be any less gentle. Thank you so much

I was a quiet and soft spirit growing up, but life took a turn for the worst and I have been through lots of situations that have hardened me and made me put my guard up. I don’t want to be that way anymore at all. I don’t want jobs that make me tougher or situations that make me that way. I want to be soft and gentle and kind and caring. Have to start to be that towards the people closest to me first.

Narcissist ex use to use both these aspects of scripture against me. He was the harsh one. He just wanted me to shut up. I was a door mat. I apologized for his bad behaviour. I wasn’t allowed to make decisions and told to submit.

@Kris Reece: Perfect advice and I'm on board. I do have a question: my husband calls me "hon" and "sweetie" in the same block of time as I have found him again with the porn or in a lie or conspiring behind my back. The gyrations he goes through to maintain innocence while blaming me are mind-bending, then he calls me hon or sweetie like nothing happened. It makes me ill to hear those names from the mouth of a liar and deceiver. I would like to ask him to not call me by those names, but I know he will oblige and feel no loss whatsoever, which will hurt me even more than listening to the pet names. When things otherwise are peaceful (he's hiding his actions better), of course a wife wants to be called sweet names. I have come a long, long, long way with this man. I refuse depression and indulgent anger, I call on the Lord and get through it day by day and pray for my husband, but these pet names have gotten to me. I want to use them to hurt him back, but it's a trap. I am in a conundrum over what to do with this one. Can you please help me.
