One video I'd like to see you make is what difference tyre pressures make to lap times. So same conditions/temps each time but a couple of PSI difference in pressure for a lap around somewhere.

Thank you so much.. i watched this ages ago & did pick up on the ambient temps & just picked one car, all tracks to set tyres so i could enjoy a race :) I then raced all cars on one track & I also found many other cars very good that i'd thought were terrible so honestly, your video was the kickstart i needed & all is good with my 1st car with very basic setup on all tracks.. mainly tyres, sometimes camber & lower fuel & that gets the car around most tracks well enough to start to enjoy the game finally, IF i remember to check the weather !... Previously, the game had felt like a long job & that a motorsport engineering degree was required. I'd raced before but couldn't feel safe in any car in ACC so your help was vital for setting a stable base. You are a top man !

@skapiche5344
@skapiche5344 2 года назад
This is what I'm confused about as well, what's the baseline?
@d43tomo18
@d43tomo18 2 года назад
The baseline you would have to adjust from what you have already to optimal of 27.7/27.8 after you've been driving consistently for at least 5 laps out of the pits. Once you've set the right pressures for your setup/driving style to these values, you then note the temperature. Most save their setup with the track and ambient temperatures in the save name of the setup for this reason, so when you load your setup, you know it was for 23c ambient (for example) and adjust from there whenever you load the setup. (Hope that makes sense) 🙂
@Jardier
@Jardier 2 года назад
I mean when you do some practice and find your correct pressure. Then adjustment is done by what said in the video. So do 3 laps and make sure to get pressure 27,6 all around, lets say 20C ambient. Then you know :)

the only I don't understand is from where u come, like okey each degree is 0,01 up or down depending but from where, like if I go standard the car runs on 25,5 on 24 degrees lets say, you modify the pressures from there or there is a rule like 20 degrees is 25,5 an from there you move around. thanks!

This is great for the next session if you have the current pressures correct but what about the first session. I quite often don’t have time to do a practice and adjust ahead of a qually or race. Sometimes I go straight in. Is that ever possible to work out without having driven?
@Jardier

I recommend doing some practice in like 23 ambient weather. So you will have saved setup with that pressures. So then you always have correct ones for next race :)

I have heard that 27.3-27.8 is the optimum range for GT3 slicks and if you are in this range, you will have maximum grip. According to Aris. So why do you aim for 27.8-27.9 instead of 27.6? Isn’t it better to be in the middle? The only advantage I can think of, is you will reach 27.3 slightly sooner at the start of the race.
@SmokeyStoner
@SmokeyStoner 2 года назад
Optimum pressure is 27.8, the lower the pressures the quicker the tyres degrade.
@MelfjeProductionS
@MelfjeProductionS 2 года назад
For example when you do a sprint race for 25 min, you want to have early on like 27.9, and then because your fuel goes down the PSI goes also down, and then at the end at the race you have like 27.4.

What would be the cause of high tire temperatures despite tire pressures and brake temperatures being optimal. How would you fix this?
@Jardier
@Jardier 2 года назад
Only thing you can do is max brake ducts right now :)
@emilzalessky9930
@emilzalessky9930 2 года назад
Maybe you are turning too much the wheel, in that case the front tires would be very hot, if rear - it's drift, if both - too much steering + drift

Nice video, Can you help me how to keep presures in check? My pressures doing the races just keep rising. Do you possibly have a tip?🙃
@oskjan1
@oskjan1 2 года назад
Normal for pressures to rise the first 3-5 laps. Otherwise open your brake ducts more. Could be that you get in the flow more the longer you race, too - that way you utilize the tyre performance more and more, which makes the temps and pressures go up. To make valid comparisons you have to drive consistently at the same pace/intensity.

Somehow I have a completely different method. I use the avarage of the ambient and track temperature, and every avarage 2°C higher [or lower] is 0,1 PSI lower [or higher]. So if the ambient temperature is 30°C and the track temperature is 38°C, the avarage is 34°C. If the avarage drops to 28°C, I raise my tyre pressures by 0,3 PSI. Completely different, but it works, except for Monza obviously.
