When you invest everything into wheel and base and got no money left for monitors etc. I enjoyed the detail on the socks getting dried during the video
Fanatec has peak torque of 8nm not holding torque like the simagic wheel does. Thats why it feels stronger at around same NM setting. As time goes u get used to it and will increase your torque a bit. U made the best possible choice, u have plenty of torque headroom for the future and this brand is pure quality. Im on G920 going for Alpha mini and Neo. Simagic bases and Neo are praised everywhere u look. Cant even find any simagic used gear on the internet 😂 its all fanatec plagued haha
Mini is what I should of brought as this is too powerful and makes my hands hurt and I can not be smooth because it is too violent in the shape movements of the wheel but it is really nice. Mini also is nice but top end forces a bit weaker
I have an Alpha U. It is definitely overkill. This alpha is really all that anyone needs. The U is only good for occasionally cranking up the power to accurately simulate old high downforce cars for some fun. Im a strong, fit, professional tower climber with very high grip strength. 6’1 (186cm) and 200lbs (90kg). I’ve tried doing a whole race in the F4 car on iRacing with the power cranked all the way up. After 5min I’m getting tired, 10min in my hands and wrists start to hurt. After the full 20min race I’m drenched in sweat my hands can hardly hold on and my wrists feel like wet noodles and actively hurt. I’ve got to avoid curbs and/or bumps because the shock through the wheel hurts too much. Most of the time I run it between 10 and 15nm. Less power and I feel like the car isn’t communicating with me enough, more and it gets tiring/painful after a while.
@@Max__apex I think it's dependent on your strength level. Personally I would not have been happy with the mini. I wouldve immediately been disappointed and wanting more power. The Alpha would have fulfilled my needs on a regular basis just nicely. Having the U is like having a 500hp road car(Alpha U) vs a 300hp one(Alpha). Realistically the 500hp is not going to be usable and most of the time on roads with speed limits, 300hp is going to be just as quick. It's when you start really pushing your own limits that you notice and appreciate the extra power. I wanted to be able to crank up the power and test my strength and endurance while sim racing. If you want to actually get a work out 20+NM is appreciated.
You need a solid 8020 rig my friend. Your losing so much touch and FFB with it the way it is now. Just know any wiggle or movement is taking away FFB feeĺ.
I'm waiting for my first rig setup to come...... which is a Trak Racer TR120, Simagic Alpha 15nm, GTS Leather Wheel, P1000 Pedals, DS-8X Shifter and TB-1 Handbrake..... but after watching your video.... now I want a GT Neo too!!!! hahaha..... great video man, thank you 😊 Cheers Don, Perth W.Australia (Dons Shed and Xplor Overland)
Literally the same as me. I have a csl dd 8nm. And am going to the alpha. The mini just doesn't feel like enough of an upgrade. It more power of course, but not much. Going to the alpha is doubling power. Feels more worthwhile for the head room. I wanna run about 12nm
A wheelbase is my next upgrade. I opted for a g9 oled upgrade first. My trusty g25 dosnt prevent me from achieving 102-103% lfm times, but a serious crash in T1 from lack of peripherals will!
That’s nice ….. enjoy what you got and when money is available then upgrade little by little. I’ve been into since 2016 and just got a PC 2024 and pc DD wheel…. No money for anything else this year and monitor will have to wait for some time now.
Mini is the best wheel ever. Better than Alpha for price to performance. Easy to be fast on that. Alpha is too violent and I wasted money £900 as I need to be in control and the wheel not to move too much when Corning to be precise and agile. Heavy wheel is hard to be precise and always doing its own thing. Midway through a corner it is moving 15-20 degrees and changing my lines by itself
Did you use default settings? I was told by simagic they wrre designed from there testers and real life drivers. I should have tried it because now going back to that I absolutely love my alpha. I tried adjusting to my preference and coumdnt find the spot I wanted its the only brand that has settings imo perfect when in default.
I take all the fake filters off that are not from the game. Will put them below. The games has tire interia and friction from the tire model physics. You can see this when parked on the tarmac and turn the wheel. So my question is why introduce extra effects on top ?? So I have them at zero. Mechanical friction, interia and damping all zero. Ffb detail 15-17 Smoothness 1 or 2 Rotation speed 70-90 Ffb details 8 and smoothness at 1 or 2 This give games physics and great detail no fake filters
@Max__apex oh wow you have the speed high. Didn't expect that but ok cool man. May check them out later. How is the notchy feel if you have any at smoothness 1 or 2? Anything you feel in the middle? I may run it loeer instead of at 4.
@Max__apex I can see why you like simagic so much more then fanatec has almost an always on dampening effect it's got good details but not as lively when pushing out the raw forces. Very good with weight and feel and details again but the simagic feels more raw for sure.
@@reviewforthetube6485 There is not notchy feeling with smoothness at 1….. maybe that is my Iracing settings I am talking about. In ACC I use in game zero canned effects. The road surface makes the wheel really lively. I turn road effects off as that is excessive suspension settings and too much information. And dynamic damping to zero I think. I try to get use to more raw side then fake effects to smooth the steering feel. But I do use really super super Low damping on 1-3% if it is too lively sometimes but I try not to. In the middle my wheel is smooth and motor is silky. But road bumps are transmitted for sure but if suspension is on then it’s too much even for me.
I thought about the 15mn but I purchased the alpha min instead. I think its all I need. Coming from the T818 which was a nightmare. cant believe the Neo is going for 250 pounds!!!
Mini is able to give you the information easily and lots of it….. clipping ever now and then is nothing because no information at such levels of violence. Most people don’t understand
@@Max__apex i currently have the Moza R5 base with the Moza K5 rim, 100% a step up from the G920 but im starting to feel like its not enough, Am interested in your base and rim. i dont see why anyone would need to upgrade from what you have. great video too.Keep em coming!! i was once like u, invest all money to sim rig, wheel, base, pedal, and i playing with 24 inch monitor, i feel something not complete, and my monitor was broken, now im upgrade it with triple monitor, now feel like where it should be
That’s cool …. Don’t even look down on what you have bro. Your still on a high level, I spoke to a guy yesterday who doesn’t have a wheel and is dreaming of that
You actually have the most compatabile wheel ever man! Don't feel bad about it. The moment you upgrade to a direct drive, you will genuinely feel the difference and tell yourself that the investment was well worth it!
Does it have the same issue that it doesnt wanna stay at 0 degrees, but just turning itself few degres to one side at the magnets? In my case 3-4 degrees left. You can see that at the software, but you can feel it at the track also.
Mine stays straight when switched on ….. when it is off the magnets inside have a natural place they rest that’s normal but when it’s switched on then It’s smooth and holds straight
@@Max__apex With the fanatec wheel do not even stay at its place turned on. You can see that at the software. I did test 2x csl dd, and the same issue. My friend have csl dd so third, and his is turning for some reason to the right not like mine both i had/have to the left. Like at the straight im trying to grab something so take off my hands from the wheel and car is turning to the left. I rly dont like it.
@@reviewforthetube6485 The v2 and v2 have the magnets from left to right symmetry rather then top to bottom. The notch is at the interface and if that’s at top then the wheel does not sit in that spot due to magnetic field variation, and turns a few degrees to equilibrium. V2, V3 improvements not worse or weaker
@Max__apex agreed ans ive read on it I'm very happy to see the responses. I was never worried only brought up what a user on mini stated. I believe the v3s are better anyways. Simagic has only ever improved there stuff. Just like software anybody that even believed it would be worse was ridiculous. Let's say it did reduce power right? Which it didn't but even if it did the base would have still felt amazing and then given you a better longer lasting psu. They are much much better batteries now. Also for anybody buying a 10nm wheelbase expecting it to be as strong as a 15nm wheelbases anyways should have just went 15nm. Like I don't get the argument who cares it's a fantastic bade and 10nm is all you need. I already know though ain't mo way they reduced power. Especially after feeling this ultimate it's so so strong it's stronger then any 20 to 25nm wheelbase ive used just like that aloha you have is stronger them most 15nm wheelbases. Just peoole spreading false information and I listened for a split second and just relayed the messages. I'm very happy simagic responded and I hope people can chill. But again the alpha and ultimate weren't even in the discussion on feel it was purely about the mini. Nobody has ever used the alpha or ultimate v3 and went ahh it feels weaker haha. What I find funnier is the v3s have been out for almost a year and then out of nowhere someone a month ago wants to bring it up? I'm like guys there is a reason nobody noticed the changes lol.
Would you ever just for a little hoped you had buyed the Ultimate instead? From most i hear that the alpha is just the perfect sweet spot and very very strong. Some say just get the U ,but they say it from a psychological fear of missing out point of view i think. But is it gonna give anything more really? You actually already said it that even the mini could be enough but that was first impressions after some time how do you feel about it? I also think the U is trying to kill you :)
I wanna try the mini actually as the Alpha is too much…. People who talk about the ultimate are lost and live in a dream land some fantasy. I never ever need to think about any other wheelbase as Alpha is everything and more then I will need
@@Max__apex To be honest thats what i was hoping to hear. I did a post in reddit about it one person who has the U said that he would like some money saved and have the Alpha. Others said that for this amount of money(245) they would bought the U for buy once cry once. But they would bought the Ultimate hypothetically, spending real money is different. What someone hopes to hear is what they really want. The alpha is waiting for me :)
@@tkdmp5698 Even the Mini has amazing detail…. Alpha you will have turn it down because it too violent to be smooth when on full power and wheel shaking is slower overall lap times. So Mini is the best option. But Alpha is great with just a lot more power
I did the same thing! Had fanatec gt dd 8nm sold that for clubsport dd 12nm and that was a nightmare! Sold all that junk and went full simagic with alpha 15nm!! Simagic wins hands down the alpha is amazing and amazing wheels. Had simucube sport back in the day which is 17nm and I’d still pick the alpha
@@lambolim2178 As I said on the video it’s higher quality ffb with better nuances and the power of even the Mini is so much more and in Iracing the details are hidden in the ffb and higher ffb levels bring that out. In ACC the speed of response and clarity and joy of driving the car just feels more euphoric from what’s coming through to the driver. Fanatec customer service is terrible and products have been known to develop faults and it’s a risk I want to minimise also.
@@lambolim2178 dan Suzuki when he was testing fanatec dd+ there nothing he tried like SC2 especially when they add 360hz update in iracing My opinion if u have limited budget go with simagic eco system or if you can buy sc2 with gt neo or whatever wheel u have I think it’s better to go with sc Most of the reviewers said there’s nothing like sc2 even asetek or vrs
So I did purchase the ultimate but i couldnt pass it up! I paid 1278 with the neo! Lol Figure hey go big with the full oc setup. Def isnt needed will be using it at 30% but should give me a ton of dynamic range.
@@Max__apexnope just got to good of a deal to pass up. Its going to replace my dd+ the thing about that extra nm which you should be happy you got the alpha. Because that will allpw the spikes and details to come through and not clip. And this will further accentuate that even in lower settings. Due to the overall torque those spikes and details can reach more of a peak. Thats just how it works. But i just couldnt help myself again even if I use it at 35% thats fine. Also when you get those settings dialed in that Jerky motion won't happen as much. I've found interpelation at 4 or 5 and smoothness on 1 is pretty nice helps with ffb noise and vibrations where they shouldnt be and allows for those details to still come through since the smoothness is set to 1. If you need to use some dampening you can up to you I don't. Tbh I can usually get unwanted effects gone with the interpelation setting and smoothness I just don't like going to high on the smoothness. Also the mini doesn't have much dynamic range lol. It's great but it def lacks the finer details the alpha and the ultimate have.
@@reviewforthetube6485 The difference in detail was exactly the same between Alpha and ultimate I tested…. The forces are the same until clipping. The motors are more then capable of outputting the SINE curves and do it in sync with each other unless a super heavy load is on the shaft. I feel people read too much into and a lot is mind game. Boosted media said the FFB was the same and couldn’t tell the difference even with the Mini at lower settings so make of that what everyone will. I think anything above the Mini is pointless …. Clipping is not gonna slow anyone down. Dan Suzuki tested the Mini to try and overheat it and so was constantly driving in clipping red area and he also said that it surprised him that his lap times were not affected. This makes sense as the clipping force is opposite to the rear slip force and also opposite to the tire slip decrease force
@@Max__apex listen I already own a 15nm base. I have it for my console use I wanted a pc base only wnd went with the ultimate. I got it for literally only 200 more then the alpha so yeah I am happy I chose it. I have the overhead and I don't have to worry about clipping when using at the 14 to 15nm point. You may use only 45% but I wouldn't be. We are all different and for me the ultimate was the right choice purely because of the slight price bump and the fact I didn't want 2 15nm bases. I just wanted to get the best simagic has to offer and I'm happy I did. Even if I won't max it out. Also dan tested a v2 the v3s like yoyrs has smaller lip edges. The new v3 minis are not as powerful. It's all over reddit right now just go over to it. Peolle comparing there old ones with new ones all state it's noticeable. So it's good you went alpha I was trying to tell you that you made a good choice that's all. If you look at your base you will notice the edges are smaller not as deep of a lip the v2s all had deeper lips this was across the entire lineup. It's nice to see that they kept using the same motor for the alpha and ultimate. Maybe the choice was down to the mini taking to much sales? Give peoppe a reason to upgrade? Idk but when people on reddit are talking about there mini not being enough power that's saying something when they then have a v2 right next to them they can test. Regardless you made a good choice. We aren't all the same, we don't all use the same power or settings. Some people don't have to understand it. Also remember most of these youtubers tell peoppe what they msy need or not need but they all sit there st the end of the day maining 20 to 25nm bases set lower. So idk I get the argument consumers don't need it but if the price is that close I'm going for it.
@@Max__apexit was only $200 more why wouldn't I buy it in the US? Actually with shipping and taxes I got a deal with a 10% discount so it was even less.
Alpha is all u need …. ULTIMATE is an excessive in pointlessness. It’s Like using a spade as a spoon. Even the Alpha is hits sooooo hard and have to turn it down otherwise it’s just violence constantly when trying to drive smoothly and fast. It’s just too much power from the Alpha. Mini is perfect but Alpha is all anyone will ever need and some extra
@@Max__apex thanks for the answer mate. I kind of regret I bought Fanatec two years ago, but at the time I didn't know of Simagic brand and Simucube was too expensive for me. Will defo try it before I buy, I know RaceAnywhere have some rigs setup with Simagic gear not far from where I live so may pay them a visit. Perhaps Alpha will be enough for me...
@@CB_883 That’s where I tried the ultimate but was a pointless exercise in power upon power for the sake of power. So I was talking about mini to him but he said go Alpha
Bro I bought 2 1440p 144hz monitors on eBay for $70 each. They have some surface scratches that are unnoticeable when in use, especially when sim racing
I went from a G920 to a Simagic Alpha Mini and now a Simagic Alpha with the GT NEO wheel (next to the GT1-D wheel) and the P1000 with 3 pedals with the hydraulic brake and rumblers addons.
@@Max__apex The alpha is what I needed all along. It's plenty powerful. I guess the actual force ingame is around 12-13 Nm now where with the mini it was around 8 without clipping. I notice more feel as well. I'm happy with the upgrade. The Alpha Ultimate might be overkill for me as I don't do open wheel cars.
@@Max__apex I'm the same.... in my mind's eye as long as my mind is immersed, the monitor size I watch things on doesn't really matter...... that being said..... I have a 55" LG QNED TV waiting to go on my upcoming new rig 😁 (I only play on PS5, so no point for triple monitors for me)
