The vehicle owuld have to have this package called parking assistance professional. Which can be found in higher end BMWs. You can use the MY BMW APP to park the car.
This is the best demo of Recording New Path. I have done some researching and thought it was a replacement for Backup Assist and only reversed the course. Nice work!
I have a 2024 X5 40i M packages. It does not allow me to "record path" into garage because it says "Path is too narrow" It is just a standard garage door. Am I doing something wrong?
Not sure on that one, I haven't heard of that message yet, but try another garage to see if it's still giving an issue, alot of times it could be lighting in the area too.
How tight can the spot be for the recording to work? My garage has a relatively tight entrance and I want to make sure that if I record a path the car is not going to bang the side mirrors into the doorway of the garage when it’s replaying the maneuver. Thanks man, I appreciate you.
Thanks for watching. I would not rely on it much, I want to say anything inside of 3-5 inches can be dangerous and the car could scrap along the side of the garage, I have seen it happen before. I would give it a try though and see how consistent or close it gets to the sides and go from there.
Very informative. I read, can you please confirm or deny, that it will repeat the path within 1”? Going to definitely use this program into and out of my garage once our iX arrives. Thank you!
I don't know for sure but I will deny that one. I would say the safe zone is closer to the 3 inch mark. I have seen this feature hit the side of a garage once so practice it first to get a feel for it.
What if the 'garage' is obstructed for some reason or a car comes out of a parking spot ahead of you? In other words, how much can you trust the system?
The vehicle does a great job of detecting bigger objects such as cars, walls, and decent on lines. It will not detect smaller objects all that great. things like curbs or a bicycle laying on the ground. I would always be alert when using this systems and not fully rely on it when going through tight spaces or small/moving objects around.
Can you tell me if the 2023 x3M401 with park assist plus and the 2024 M4 with park assist pro has this feature. Also, will you please send me links for the appropriate key fob covers for these two models. Thank you. Nice video.
Hi there, was on vacation and been sick lately lol. 2023 X3 does not have the feature, requires a newer chipset 2024 M4, i haven't personally seen it, usually if the vehicle has Digital Key Plus there is a good chance it has it, after doing some research on it though I did see that it's currently not available.
This will be nice for the wife. She struggles some times backing into the garage. I wonder how far of a distance a recording will allow. Like 1/4 mile for example..
Try highlighting the recording and press the option key near the controller, or click and hold down the recording, it should bring up another menu where there should be an option to delete.
Been using this with my ‘24 X5 50e - however, it seems very sensitive to the “starting place” - doesn’t always recognize. What are the specifications on how exactly AT the starting point you have to be? It also complains if its too dark - too bad since night is when i might want to use it the most.
Yes the starting place is sensitive. You basically have to be exactly where you were and being closer to the middle helps a lot. When you do get to the start point it has to be in a natural motion meaning if you try to reverse into the start point to test it it won’t detect that. Helps to get a long driving motion and then getting to the start point.
I know there is a way to do it, you may just have to go into the settings of that menu and look for it. I can check tomorrow to see, follow up with me in another video if you don't hear from me. When you do see the path you want to delete, you have to HOLD on it and then the option to delete it appears.
I have a 2023 330i with the professional parking package but the record new path doesn’t pop up. I have a little record camera next to my gear shifter along with the P. I must be doing something wrong or just totally confused 🤷🏻♀️
I believe the 3 series is not compatible with the system. To get a little technical it has to be one of the ones I have mentioned in the video but the vehicles require this chip called the MGU which started to get introduced in late 2023 going into 2024.
@@BeamerView thank you for responding! Can you help me out with what I’d use the record for in my vehicle? And what my professional parking is capable of?
Something completely different. Do you know if it is possible to order the B&W sound system for a 4-series Grand Coupe? And is it worth the 10 times price tag over the H&K? Thanks.
Not possible unfortunately. I honestly do feel the HK system is pretty good. BW I recall was only noticeably different when I heard in a iX, that vehicle optioned with it has 4D sound. Honestly do think HK would be the way to go.
When the X5 has recorded a path (either backwards or forwards) and you tell it to follow one of those paths, will it stop automatically if it sees an object? Like if someone else is in your space or if someone is standing in front or back of the car, will the car stop or just run into the object? I understand you're supposed to be paying attention so that doesn't happen (!!!) but I want to know if theoretically the automatic safety systems are engaged,
iDrive 8 vehicles do have it, but they do have to be one of the newer ones that got mid cycle refreshes done such as the 24 X5, 23-24 X7, New 7 series, New 5 series, etc.
From what I can tell the new 5 series doesn’t have this function. Parking assist professional is not an option. Parking assist plus is only available in the premium and executive package. Shush doesn’t include this option. That sound about right?
