need to try this on my Maxxum Edge 125. Have a pair of size 10 Macroblades 110 that I can literally do marathons with no pain. But on the maxxum edge 10.5 not only are they a lot tighter but I blisters on the inside of my feet “navicular accessory”. Funny enough I bought a pair of size 11 RB 110’s and the new Maxxum XT’s 10/10.5 and the size 10 macroblade is longer than both! just picked up a pair of E2 110’s and they have the closest feel to the macroblade, but still have a little bit of a hotspot in the same area. will try this process on them

@Thirty and Rollin Hey, thanks for the video, buddy. I immediately noticed hot spots on my inner malleolus ankle bones with my new RB Maxxum Edge 125 3WD’s when I first got them and tried them on. Figured I’d first try to see if the skates would break in a bit and lessen the discomfort, but, after around 6 hrs of fairly aggressive (for me, at least) skating (I’ve even already had to rotate wheels), they’re not getting any more comfortable. In fact, I went out yesterday, and had to turn around and head back after less than 15 minutes, because I was already in quite a bit of pain. It had been 4 days since my last 1-hr skate, which wasn’t too bad, but, I suppose the bruising and abrasion is cumulative, and this time it was really hurting. I can withstand a certain amount of discomfort (I’m also a distance runner, mountain biker, and cyclist, and past dirt bike and sportbike rider), but this was bad enough to be distracting and to take the fun out of skating. The good news is that, other than that inner malleolus, everything else on my feet feel great in the boots. It’s just those areas. Already have a heat gun in the garage, so I’ll be busting it out this coming week! Other than that, I’ve really enjoyed the skates so far! Thanks again for all you do for the inline skating community!

Hey there! This video is super useful! I just bought a FR3 80 skate, not very comfortable for now, but only have a few spots, in general it should be a good fit. But I just saw that it is not heat moldable. Is there an other way, or then there is nothing to do just hope I can break them in? Do you have any experience with this skate? I have short and wide feet. My first skates were a size and a half larger than my US shoe size and are still too narrow for my wide feet which caused very extreme pain until I made some alterations to the padding and skip 1 hole (at the outer widest point of my foot) in the lacing of the skate. When I eventually get a new pair of better skates to upgrade from my entry level RollerBlades I am sure I will need to do a little heat molding. Thanks for the video.

Hi, I'd like to know if you have an advice or if there's some precaution to take when heat-molding near screw holes... Just got the FR3 310 and rolled approx. 50 km (3hrs in two sessions). My right foot arch definitely suffers from the ankle strap screw pointing in, and around this particular area. Man did it hurt after my last run (33km), had to walk on the heelfor the rest of the day. Rest of the skate is perfect though, when comparing to my old 1998 K2 fitness skates :) I really like the fit in general, the more forward stance and the speed that it generates! Thanks in advance, and also for all the other videos, really useful!

Great content man! After quite a lot of research and searching online, i finally found the Twister Edge X in my size. For shoes i usually wear between 44,5 and 45 and for the skates i got 45 since they didn't have 45,5 in stock anywhere. My only worry is that my foot is a bit wide and I'm really hoping they would fit relatively comfortably without too many heatpoints. In a local store i tried size 45 Roces Vidi, the 4x90 ones, and they did fit absolutely perfectly from the get go. With them people again were advertising to go a size bigger. I know they are different types of skates but their boot didn't seem that wide. Hopefully the Twister Edge X fits almost as good without the necessity to use the heat gun too much. They seem like the absolutely perfect skates for my needs.
@ThirtyandRollin

Got a pair of next 90s, with the my fit spc liners in them. My inside left ankle has become quite a nuisance in terms of pain. I can get out about 7 miles before my ankle starts to hurt(throbb8ng at thay point). I've just molded the boots in the affected area to the best of my knowledge. Will this make the pain dissappear or will it just be enough to cause little if any discomfort. I have to wait a few days now to see if it's enough as my ankle is pretty painful as of right now. And before you bring up stride, my stride is pretty tuned in. I'm also wondering is maybe the skate is just too big and I need a bigger liner to fill in the spots where there's excessive play.

Problem is, I have a foot lenght of 276mm which is too large for 42/43 (until 275) but to small for 44/45 (starting at 282mm) when looking at the Powerslide fitting table. Any suggestion? I am happy for feedback.

@@AM-hv3pd Hi, I know you didn't ask me the question. But maybe my experience can be useful. My feet are narrow to normal, 25 cms long, and the shops advised me to get 40-41 (25,4-26,1 cms). I ordered and tried 38-39 (24.2 - 24.8) and 40-41. 40-41 felt big, after lacing them I felt like my ankles would not be supported very long, and there was way too much space in front in the toe box. With 38-39, I could touch the end of the skate with my big toe, but nothing bad or uncomfortable, the big toes were not crammed. The skate felt like it was a part of my leg. I asked around in many forums and kept 38-39 (24,2 -24,8 cms). They broke in and they are now perfect and comfortable, widthwise and lengthwise, no heat molding necessary. I only got a 40-41 Eva insole and put it on the 38-39 liner, that was even better and I haven't looked back since. Skated around 300 kms since I got my Powerslides Next end of May. The bigger size would have become too big after breaking in the skates and I would have had to buy extra things to make them fit.

Excellent video! I just have a quick question. I noticed you placed a square of tape on an area where two different parts of the hard boot will be rubbing on each other (3:49). I have a similar problem with my Maxxum edge 90 but in the inner malleolus. Do you think that just by heat molding the boot (white part of the hard boot in your vídeo) would be enough or should I also try to mold the hard boot cuff (black part of the hard boot in your video) as well?
@ThirtyandRollin

I would try the main shell first. The cuff is a bit harder to mold.

@@johnmpifer Hi John! I don’t know for how long you have had your Maxxum Edge, but if they have recently been bought and if you can change them for the RB cruisers, they seem to have a wider fit. I haven’t experienced it myself, but a friend of mine with the same problems as we do (I have both prominent internal malleolus and navicular :’( ) is now skating pain free!! If you can’t get the RBs or don’t plan on changing them, like me (I love having 4x90mm) I’ve had heat-molded them at least five times (it takes patience to punch out the hard boot enough for it to stop hurting). For being totally honest, the pain has decreased from a 9/10 to a 2/10 (10/10 being the worst pain and 1/10 almost no pain). I think I might keep doing it until I get better at skating and invest in skates that don’t hurt. Unfortunately there are no inline skating shops around my area. I might probably go to Canada to get my next pair at a good shop with good customer service.

I have carbon fibre ice skates and they only mould a bit. True skates are much more mouldable. So it depends on the skate, but a way out skate will never fit. Best find out the length snd width first.

My feet are not that long (265mm) but very wide. I had some USD sway in 43/44, that felt too tight. I bought some MyFit Recall liners, that i heat molded, then they felt too big... So, i bought some Aeons, 41/42, that felt tiny, i putted the Recall liners, and heat molded the boot, now they feel good, finally... And surprisingly, my Sways, with the 41/42 zoom 100 liner feel good too, just molding the liner. Just to say, it's a long way to be comfy on your skates...😅

Hi! I have very narrow feet, width is a size 5 but length a size 10! I don't live near a store that has rollerblades where I could try different ones on, so I ordered a pair of twister edge skates since many people have said they were too narrow for them. The length is good, my toes touch slightly when I put them on sitting but not when I stand up. But, my forefoot is still quite loose. Do you have any suggestions to make them fit better? Can this method be use to press down the top of the boot on the side of the laces? The plastic is so rigid that pulling on the laces doesn't do much. Thanks so much!
@ThirtyandRollin

Sound like you got the right size but you do have a very narrow foot. I would try placing a soft flat insole in the shell beneath the liner. I have sucked up a lot of room in boots that were too big volume wise by adding an insole or two. Good luck!

I bought some new skates not long ago and they fit well except in one area which is my big front toe. It is very painful and there is no way in exchanging them because I already had a test ride with them. The hard frame of the skates is not a problem because there is still a good gap behind the heel but it's more the liner itself. Here are the skates that I bought: www.skatehut.co.uk/skates/inline-skates/sfr-air-x-pro-80-inline-skates-black-silver.htm Is there a way how I could fix these? I would love to hear what your advice is. On top of that keep up with the good work. I love to watch your content. As a beginner, your videos help a lot. Cheers

I would still warm the liner/shell up and put something like the handle end of a screw drive inside the boot to push out the constricting spot. You just need to stretch the liner/shell like you would with a hard shell.

Guy it’s not a hockey skate you can’t bake these plastic pieces of crap it does nothing there’s no gel in this liners nor is there curved composite so heating them is just taking life out of your fruit boots but you prob only paid like $200 and in that case your skate is a plastic/aluminum Chinese toy. I seriously think this gentleman has no idea what he is doing and keeps applying things that are done to an ice hockey boot made from much more premium materials that will not work and WILL DAMAGE YOUR plastic “inline” skate and most certainly void any warranty. Skate ovens actually exist and you do bake composite inline skates but not plastic ones
