This is what I needed…I took this to the range and wow what a difference. I use to hinge the club on the takeaway. But from watching this video, I’ve learned that you can hinge naturally than manipulating and forcing the club and wrist to hinge. Great video!!

This 3 finger grip idea on the lead hand is amazing. Have always heard it but never took the other two fingers off. Now I can really feel where the pressure points are

Most players would really benefit from thinking about cocking the right wrist “back”, instead of cocking it “up”. This naturally flattens, or even slightly bows the left wrist. This thought is what worked for me, anyway. I used to practice right hand only swings and feel that “holding a tray” position at the top. Great stuff, guys.

What I recently discovered is forearm roll in the first half of the backswing while keeping it on plane helped me so much to get the right hand under holding the imaginary plate.

@@corbin6304 Exactly! The left forearm should naturally roll over a little. That’s what allows the right forearm to be thrown back, with right elbow beneath it. The left hand glove logo should point at roughly a 45* angle towards the sky. This will feel very strange to some people, but it’s key in getting the shaft on plane, and creating effortless speed.

kerrod, off topic but wondering your opinion on presetting a hip bump at setup? vs during transition

thanks great video.If the impact position of the wrist is flexion,why not go straight to flexion position on takeaway then its set instead of the initial extension pension?
@paulstewart9393
@paulstewart9393 Год назад
sorry initial extension position? Flextion seems like a fairly easy wrist position to hold through out the swing.

Great job on wrist cock via a push/pull drill in the takeaway! This is something I have been working on for some time now and I am becoming very proficient with it. Keep up the good work!

Your I think you guys are naming anatomical movements incorrectly which is confusing. If you call the set up condition extension(it is really ulnar deviation), then flexion would be the opposite(radial deviation). At impact the left wrist is in flexion(bowed or more precise, volar flexion). The correct terms for wrist motion is radial deviation, ulnar deviation. And volar flexion and dorsiflextion(extension). Si in backswing wrists gets dorsiflexed(extension) and radial deviated. Impact is volar flexed(bowed) and ulnar deviated.

Why is the right arm getting so far away from his body though?

This misunderstanding of how the wrists work in the golf swing has cost me dearly lately. I saw another video that touched on this but not in this detail. What I started to do was for me to feel that I push down with my left palm in the takeaway which I think is similar to when you say push the thumb down on the left hand. This “loading” is so important and gives you the feeling of club control. I have gained 20+yards across the bag by understanding this better. I feel more balanced and also allows me to keep my hands and arms in front of my body which is good for maintaining structure and posture. Any golfer should watch this and and try and understand this as I feel it is one of the key ingredients to having a good golf swing with effortless power. ⛳️

How confusing to say "hinge" when you really mean "cock" the wrists. "Hinging" by many pros refers to cupping or bowing action (going back and forth not up & down which is a clocking motion). If what you say is hinging then what is cocking?
