i have a corolla and i took off the camshafts without folding and putting paper towel on the camshafts does that matter.? can i adjust the timing when i put it back together.?? without having done that step.??
@Videsh Sookram I'm assuming you are talking about once you reinstall the chain. You just need to turn the crankshaft to the left (counter clockwise) about 30 degrees to make the hook release, then turn the crankshaft clockwise to make the tensioner plunge back into the chain.
@Erick_fz09 you might already have the answer to this I hope. You should not skip this step because you don't want the valves to be in an open position. You are position in the crankshaft in this way to ensure that all the valves are closed. If a piston hits the valve while it is open it will for sure bend the valve.
Because to hold the chain & the camshafts not to rotate! You know why I am using paper towels to save money as you know there are special tools to hold the chain.
