Let’s talk HUNGER! I say “honor your hunger” a lot when talking about intuitive eating but what does that even MEAN?! How do you know if you’re hungry? How do you actually honor your hunger cues?! In this video we will go over what hunger is. Did you know there are actually 4 types of hunger?! Taste hunger, emotional hunger, practical hunger and biological hunger. We’ll discuss all 4 and I’ll give you some practical tips for how to honor your hunger!

An example of practical hunger: I am not usually super hungry in the mornings, but I know that I would be starving by lunchtime if I didn’t eat breakfast. I don’t necessarily have to have a huge breakfast but I could have something small like an apple with yogurt, cereal, or some toast with avocado. Things that can hold me for 2-3 hours.

I'm the same way. I'm not normally hungry in the morning, but if I skip breakfast, my stomach is growling by the time I get to work. Lol

Does anyone else eat basically a whole meal whilst picking at the ingredients you're cooking? I guess it's Taste hunger. It's my main problem with eating when i'm not hungry, it looks and smells so good i can't wait.

It’s just hard to use the mindful techniques sometimes because the food just tastes so good and once I start eating it’s hard to stick to my plans of using the techniques

Overthinking hunger and fullness maybe as a topic? Sometimes that either paralyzes me or makes me start eating fast and before I know it, I'm too full.

my hunger cues never came back ( i use to have anorexia and have been weight restored) even tho i’ve been eating on a schedule (every 3-4 hours) for over a year and 2200-2400 calories. i always have to force myself to eat and it is sooo unpleasant i just wish i had hunger again so it’d be easier to eat. i also lost the rewarding feeling when i eat ( i heard anorexia can mess up the brain reward system). i hope the brain altercations will be restored eventually. i honestly have NO appetite at all and eating feels so forced. i feel so frustrated and will give up eventually 😭 idk what to do and my dietician doesn’t know either. maybe i’m doing something incorrectly and that’s why they are not back? if i listened to my hunger, i literally would not eat at all since i have absolutely ZERO hunger

Hi! It can take time! I'm glad you're working with a dietitian and would suggest chatting with more and doing more digging on this area with her! Everyone is so unique but it's important to work through ❤️

I am eating intuitively nowadays, after two years it is the first time that i told my body there is no dieting anymore. It felt strange and when i do not want to eat, when i realize that i surprise every time

Practical hunger is so useful, it helps me to eat decently throughout the day. However sometimes i struggle to apply it cause my mind thinking that i atcually just making excuses to "binge" and therefore i feel so guilty after eating even though I'm not actually binging 😭😭

I can feel the hunger but i dont feel fullness. The only time i feel fullness is when I’m stuffed

Ima lose my mind, i just ate a hot dog with lettuce and cookies with milk & my stomach is still grumbling. But mentally i don’t want anything 😩 and my heart is starting to hurt from all the eating

I find it so hard to stop eating when I'm full jf there's still food on the plate. When I was younger, I had to eat everything on the plate alst I'd be called ungrateful and then get an absolute back and blue clobbering off my dad. How do get away from that thought process as am early 20 year old and just stop eating without being scared?
