Awesome pointers! To help with the visual improvement process, I like to use Figma's auto-layout feature for nearly everything. Combined with creating components for things like repeated elements like your boxes, it really helps speed up the process and guarantees clean & consistent spacing.
Aliena, I never usually comment, but I can't express how much I love your content. I had no idea how to make a visual hero image and this was the only video that demonstrated the steps to making it. Thank you for just doing what you do, truly.
hi Aliena, I just started my journey in UI/UX, and since I am a self-learner I struggle a lot. but your channel really helped me from D-1 till now. I started my journey with your suggestion of a google course. it really helped a lot. And while designing, your figma tutorials are really a blessing to me. I learned a lot from it. I want more videos like this to help starters like me. And I also suggest you have more figma tutorials video. What you are doing is really amazing. You are like an Idol to me. Thanks, for helping us. It means a lot to US
I regularly watch other designer videos but the way u give detailed information is great and ya with some funny stuff 😆😁❤ & ya plz make a video on how to make a website portfolio for free😁
This video was so helpful! Your content is very informative and easy to take in. I’m currently taking the google certificate program and I’m hoping to find a job afterwards and your videos have given me hope! If you have time could you talk more about the job search, how your job is going, what to look out for when searching for a company etc? Thank you for the great content!
Thank you for the comment! I’ve noted your questions. It’s not easy to land the first UX job, so I suggest you to take one freelance opportunities too. But once you found the first one, it will come more natural. All the best to you 👍🏼
Thank you so much for the support ❤️ I’ve noted your question down. I’m not a huge fans of the grid system since my company also don’t use it. I prefer using more auto layout and components. But I’ll try to find time to dig into your topic!
I've worked with google material 2.0, and used Google Color Tool, even it works ok, I don't understand system. For example I have Primary and Primary Dark colors, which logically can be used for buttons (Default and Hovered states) unfortunately, the dark color is not "Tasty", according to my research on default, hovered button color (for ex. Twitch) so the system is pretty old and made for old UI. Maybe I'm wrong. But the hovered color is need to be set up manually, based on the formula. Conclusion: the system of light, normal, dark colors is unreliable.
I have a problem with my alignments. I always have to do it in a multiple of 8. It just feels better to me. I swear I'm not usually so particular, but 8s are my golden ratio. 😅
Haha I feel you! I guess you are very sensitive to numbers. Though a multiple of 8 is definitely a special taste. I’m curious about your work and whether this decision creates something stunning and difference 😀😁
@@AlienaCai Honestly, I don't think it does anything special, but I carry on believing that my effort will be subconsciously recognised by my target audience, like the subtle natural math of a pleasant piano chord. 😂 🙏
thank you so much I am just doing a UX Design course and having a horrible time with it. and your videos really bring so much valuable info. Thank you so much.
the main problem I face now is fluently communicate in English .. Not a native English speaker ...Its actually more difficult to communicate with the stakeholders and managers
I understand. I'm the same when I started out, because my native language is Chinese. I believe this will get better in time. When I interviewed at Google, my interviewer spoke worse English than I did. I've seen many people with international backgrounds working in tech without perfect English, so I believe we can make it as long as we improve every day 👍
Hey Aliena, thank you for sharing? Do you mind to review my portfolio? I do really need feedbacks on my portfolio. Let me know if you are interested! Thanks!
Thank you very much for this video. I just started the google Ux design course. I learnt quiet a few things from this video. Im new ti Figma and still struggling to learn. please can you give point out the resources you used to learn how to use Figma. I hope to know how to use it like you pretty soon. And I just had to share your video on twitter cos its so helpful. have a lovely day.
But if I were you, I definitely would NOT put my design into 3D mock-ups. Such a terrible experience for portfolio reviewer!😅
if you give a developer that opacity crap you need to know that you are making life hell for someone. rest, sleep, think about it, then decide if care or not. I know for experience that designers don't care about other people, prove me wrong by working out what the 95% opacity is in HEX.
Thanks for your comment. You mentioned a very good point when it comes to collaborating with SWEs. This video is made for new designers to quickly improve their portfolio, so I didn’t thought deep enough. I personally never use opacity in actual project, and thanks a lot for bringing that out. I’m sorry that designers make you feel that way. I’ve done front-end programming for one project and I totally understand that pain. I hope there will be better communication between designers and engineers to eliminate this kind of friction.
