Just started training track up again this last week, yet to get a proper time in with spikes and a track on fully automatic timing but would assume I’d run a 12 flat, I’m 18 and have major room for improvement. My question is to the athletes that have run sub 11/ low 10’s how did the push from 12 to sub 10 take you

Your sprinting isn’t smooth. You need to be able to put power down while keeping your upper body as stable as possible. You’re trying so hard to put power down and it’s moving your whole body. I’m sure your speed endurance can’t be good with that form. Note 2: you don’t need to always sprint max effort in training. You need to plan it so the effort increases close to max when your season is about to start
@AdamPlanetary
@AdamPlanetary 2 месяца назад
There are other forms of training I mentioned that are beneficial in the video that aren’t always max effort, intensive tempo and extensive tempo. Vertical integration popularized by coach Charlie Francis states that all forms of training should be kept throughout the year especially speed training(max effort sprinting). If you’re following the most common form of periodized sprint training which is a short to long progression ideally you would want to focus on shorter distances in the off season and the closer you get to season you would sprint longer distances. I explained these concepts in the video. Now if you wanna make sure you peak for a specific competition period the volume changes and the intensity is maintained. Everyone is different so certain things may differ but that is a general rule that is used.
@AdamPlanetary
@AdamPlanetary 2 месяца назад
Vertical integration also states while all forms of training is kept through the year, what changes is the emphasis based on the specific phase of the year you’re in.

@@AdamPlanetary even though they say max effort. They don’t mean actual max effort. It’s more like 80-90%. Sprinting max effort continuously just increases injury risk. All that aside, i still stick to my old statement. The rest of your body moves too much when you strike the ground. I think you need to slow down and fix this first or it will continue to hinder your top end and speed endurance.
@therealg4197
@therealg4197 21 день назад
A good way to fix that issue will be the no hands drill. Hands on waist and strike down for multiple reps

@AdamPlanetary

It depends on what distance you’re training for. But if you’re training for the 100 meters you should be fine.

Thank you for replying. Related to sprinting and strength training, how can you incorporate heavy lifting like squat to become stronger without your sprint times going down?
@AdamPlanetary
@AdamPlanetary 3 месяца назад
I would sprint first and then squat on the same day then wait 48 hours until ur next sprint session. You’ll have to squat a lot less frequently if you’re also sprinting maybe only like once a week depending on the individual.
