In this lesson, I discussed the benefits of listening to improve both your English fluency and accent for your call center job. I also explained why it's the technique that all non-native English speakers should focus on above reading, writing and studying the grammar rules.

@Kwestyon

Yun yung quick meeting/ discussion before or after your shift. Usually about reminders, new policy or updates sa account that agents should know. When your team lead shouts, "Hudde, guys! ", you should crowd together (either standing or sitting) to listen/ ask questions.

When I watched a video by A. J., it was really an eye-opener and somewhat debunks the traditional way of learning English or any language i.e. using textbooks and learning from (language) schools. Thanks for the channel suggestion, already subscribed. :)

Today was my first-day taking calls, and It was so stressful, sad, humiliating too. I was so nervous and scared. But the customers were so patient. And at the end of the day, I just wanna cry. @@lissettehernandez3339 Everything is okay now, I'm still learning, improving my English, I feel more confident with myself, I feel nervous, scared, anxious, but it's not so hard, how it was on my first day, now, I can control so much better all my emotions when I take every call. And my supervisor is so kind, and sometimes when I have some questions or something like that, he helps me. Trust on you, don't try to hide your accent, because my level in this language, it's around 60% I guess, I have an accent, but I can do with this, and also you can, don't be afraid, take the risk. ✨✨

Cool, yeah just relax when speaking. Don’t be so nervous about grammar either. You’ll be alright. Just don’t try too hard on pronunciation, simple English will do just fine. Even tho I have been here a long time, sometimes I do still have an accent but everyone does especially those who’s from the down the south. Remember writing is different from speaking. Not the same. Some of the words has a silent letter too. Slang words are not really impressive at all. Good luck 👍

I find this vlog really helpful, especially for me that is very afraid to express how to speak fluently in English. So thankful to have people like you that inspire many other people who don't speak well in English like a native speaker. I guess that I will follow those tips of yours in order for me to somehow overcome my weakness and to achieve my goal of having a chance in a job like call center. P.S. Not so confident while doing this comment.

It's OK, you don't have to be perfect in order for people to understand you, yes you need to improve like anyone here in the comment section but your comment is comprehensible

Because the formal English we've been learning in school is meant for writing formal and academic papers. We actually don't have the experiential aspect of English. It's important to reveal the specific skills that are crucial in learning wholistic English. This is what is needed for advancing into the different aspects of English Language utilization.

About 10+ years ago I learned English with my Philippine teachers online and I was in China back then. The teachers in Philippines helped me a lot. Right now I am a call Center agent in Canada and working together with my coworkers in Philippines as we have call centres both in Canada and Philippines. I am so used to Filipino accent😊.

Absolutely!. I learnt French too through listening. At first, someone taught me, one on one, but she gave up because I couldnt learn, the prononciation was just too hard, so I gave up. But when i started to listen, i started to talk until I became fluent in it☺️. Native french speaker were even amazed and telling me, " tu parlez tres bien francais, huh" where it means "you speak very good french, huh'. Theres a lot of filipino there, eventhough, they learnt french too, they just couldnt pronounce it well. So I believe, through listening, you will learn faster, and it will make you fluent. So try it, guys. It wont fail you. Just keep on listening then practice it, and you will be fluent in it too.

I very much agree. I've always been ahead in English compared to my classmates even since we're in grade school. When writing essays or doing oral recitations, i noticed that the difference between me and them is that I just casually speak it while they try to translate every single word then patch them up to form a sentence. I guess the factor that made the greatest contribution is that I grew up watching English movies and listening to English songs. Listening really helped a lot, it felt like the language just naturally grew on me over time.

I think you did great at your job, I lived in canada 🇨🇦 for 14 years and work in a contact center, but you speak better than me particularly your accent it’s amazing how you deliver it, and it’s true in contact centre you need to speak same as the client , because English is not our first language and it’s not easy to adjust our accent, those people who gave you a negative feedback never worked in a contact centre, keep it up I admire you 😊

I totally agree with you. I'm an ESL teacher, and we encourage our students to use contractions and assimilation during conversation. But we remind them not to use such words in (formal) writing. Excellent tips! ❤️🙌👏

These are such useful techniques! Thank you for sharing this! Honestly, I am struggling of expressing myself through speaking in English language in a spontaneous manner. But because of this video, I've realized the importance of listening as it will help me to improve more of my english communication skills especially that I am currently applying as a CSR in a BPO industry. Thank you so much and I do appreciate this useful tips! More videos pls! 😊♥️
