We immigrated to Canada in 2011 and even then I would get comments on how my English doesn’t have a distinguishable pinoy accent. Most people thought I was born here. Even fellow pinoys would give me compliments on how easily I have adapted. Ito mga tricks ko and I have been doing this since elementary: 1. Watch English shows. 2. Read and read a lot. 3. Practice pronouncing words. Wag mahiya. Marami sa atin natatakot matawag na maarte. 4. Maraming aspects ang speaking and hindi lang pronunciation of words. Sometimes we tend to focus a lot on our pronunciation to the point na nakakalimutan na natin ang real goal ng speaking which is to get our point across. Mas mahalaga pa rin kapag may sustansya ang sinasabi kaysa aasa lang sa ganda ng pagkakasabi.

I'm glad that there's this video about T sound. I remember my oration coach correcting my pronunciation during my practices. Since then I've been very cautious of my pronunciation and I can say that it improved a lot.

Totally agree, listening to customer during calls will definitely help us observe their usage of language. Strict grammar isn't necessary since we have to be flexible depending also on the state we are calling. but i so love this video! so straightforward

Your videos are awesome. I worked in a call center for years in the US, and for the final three years we were blended with another team based out of the Philippines. My manager from this team was Philippines based as well, and she and I worked with the rest of the team on pronunciation when dealing with American customers. I don't know though I'm a current employee here in iqor I still don't have the confidence just like her. But this video has helped me a lot to pronounce the words correctly. Guys, it takes time I've been taking calls for almost a year now and yeah my communications skills improve a lot.

I totally agree with the Listening is the key, and the the complicated rules of English. I stick with listening because by the letters gave me so much headache. For me it's 20% grammar, 20% vocabulary, and 60% listening and speaking. BTW, I love your videos. It's relaxing, soothing, and educational...so I'm subscribing.

This is great content. I'd like to add that when a word that starts with a T is preceded by a word that ends with a vowel sound, it's more common to pronounce the t as a flap t (like in the word water). For instance, in "See you tomorrow" the t usually sounds like a d: See yuh duhmorrow 😀

I like the way you talk. Some teachers on YT exaggerate their pronunciation to make it sound like American. It has to come out natural and you are doing it just right. You still have a hint of Filipino accent but to me, it's perfect. I wish I can talk like you. If I may also add, some call center agents pronounce T as CH to have that American accent. Ex: Two = CHU which is very irritating. About the word PESO, it comes from Spanish so I guess it should be pronounced the way Spanish do which is the one we have gotten used to. The one you Googled is the English form where the English pronunciation of vowels is used. In my opinion, "pehso" or "peyso" should be correct.

"of" has two kinds of pronounciation. The one you just showed is the unstressed sound and also the stressed sound. There are others and it depends on the speed we pronounce it. It's a hard topic that i'm unable to account for since if i speak fast a native won't understand me so i try to speak clearly and less fast.

At 4:37, I learned during high school that most 2-syllable words, when used as verbs and not as nouns, are stressed on their second syllable. Such is with the words: Object - item VS. objEct - disapprove/disagree prEsent - existing/occurring at the said time VS. presEnt - give Insult - disrespectful action VS. insUlt - speak/treat with disrespect rEcord - documentation/file VS. recOrd - to note/write prOject - assignment/task VS. projEct - forecast/estimate Such is with the case with prefer, although the word, in the sentence structure, is solely used as a verb, never as a noun.
