Absolutely, ACRONYM is exactly that helped me in my secondary and postgraduate studies even in entry-level employment exams and/or competitions. It's been great! It works and really amazing!. Anyone can create the acronym that would be very familiar to his/her activities, hence, easier to remember. Yes, that's the keyword: familiarity, hence, easy to remember.

Dear Scott Brueckner sir, I can recall since 1962 how when my classmates struggled with learning spellings (English) to me it was just the opposite. I could recall the real difficult ones (mostly, not always) without knowing mnemonic at age 6 just God's grace. Suffice to say every moment of your (nearly) hour-long class was interesting. I too started as lecturer in English in 1977. I imagine I can lecture not only when awake, ... that too is God's grace. There is a little secret you missed to impart. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (King Solomon's own words). God bless you for sharing your secrets (tricks).

This is great! Thank you so much for sharing this! The two digit squaring of a number ending in 5 also works for 3 digit numbers that end in 5 - 655 ^ 2 = (65*66) and stick 25 at the end = 429025. Harder to do in your head - but a lot faster than the multiplication algorithm. It even works for 4 digit numbers ending in 5 - 6755^2 = 675*676 and stick 25 at the end (I assume it goes on for longer numbers). Maybe you could do a proof of why that works.
@yzhang2008
@yzhang2008 5 лет назад
It applies to all integers ending with 5. The proof is like this: (10 * X + 5) (10 * X + 5) = 100 * X * X + 100 * X + 25 = 100 * X * (X+1) + 25

In you description of S. P. A. C. E Tward the end you gave an very accurate description of Mankind's problem with the conscious mind, intellectualism..! The arrogance of intellectualism ! Intellectualism know what all of the conscious mind blocks subconscious mind from giving you answers to questions..! Because the intellectual conscious mind actually believes it's smarter than God..! And there is a constant fight between conscious and subconscious over this territory but here's the ridiculous portion.! Conscious mind represents 5% of our intellect..! Subconscious mind represents 95% + of all of our intellect from the day we were born everything we smell everything we saw everything we read everything we heard everything is recorded there ..! What people say what I couldn't remember it for the test they're actually giving credence to this intellectualism of the conscious mind and making an excuse for that conscious mind to continue blocking off the subconscious mind from giving an answer.! A conscious mind enabler of the mental block between conscious and subconscious, if you will I don't need to see a LION I already know what they look like..! Love your tricks going to learn from You let me tell you about one of mine! Consider this too, the conscious mind and subconscious as two arguing children that refuse to speek to each other while dwelling on their ongoing argument.! Because that's exactly what there's doing ,! When you can't remember something it's usually because of this arrogance of the conscious mind in daylight out here over the subconscious mind that never gets to speak..! If you change the subject like swapping out a toy with a child then the subconscious mind will give the conscious mind the answer to the question because after all the subconscious mind is 95 + percent of all of our intellect ..! That's what we're taught to do on a multiple choice question test go on to the next question in dealing with the next question with your conscious mind your subconscious mind gave you the answer to the previous one.! You can't remember something and then the subconscious mind will give it to you ! Simple it's a trick a simple trick..! How big is a trick of a subordinate bowing to the higher intellect of the subconscious mind to get an answer to a question...!! buy preoccupying the conscious mind with something else !! A trick of preoccupation if you will ! I use this trick and many more like it with the subconscious mind to write music! And because of it I found the worst thing that you can do in writing is to make a note or notes off your paper and go over your notes again to do a rewrite that is the absolute worst thing you could do! If you go threw a three month rewrite method..! Crumble up the first writing and throw it away or burn it and start over completely fresh when you do it the next time.....! and if your professor requires notes wait till the third writing before ever making your notes notes that you will never use for a rewrite because that just does not work your subconscious mind is way more powerful than that !! but using notes as a crutch will completely block off your subconscious mind.!

the first multiplication trick works for numbers like 63*67 = 4221 (6*(6+1)=42, 3*7=21). Works for any pair with two first digit equal (both are 6) and the other two add up to 10 exactly (3+7=10)

I've been using the below trick to easily memorize very long numbers (for instance pi to a hundred decimals) or long lists for years. The range of possible uses for this memory system are very broad. First study these by heart until they become natural: 1 = T or D 2 = N 3 = M 4 = R 5 = L 6 = Y or J 7 = K or hard C 8 = F or V 9 = P 0 = S or Z or soft C Now you can remember long numbers by making words with them. For instance: 3.14 would be 'motor' or 'mother'. (If you want to memorize Pi, then walk through the rooms of your house, where in every room you encounter other objects, starting with a Motor on the driveway.) [Note that I transcribed these number-to-letter combination from another language; some letter choices may not be optimal for English word forming. Change were necessary.] As an extension of the system, every number has a word or image attached to it: 0 Saw 1 haT 2 Noah 3 haM 4 eaR 5 owL 6 eYe 7 Cow 8 uFo 9 aPe 10 DiSh 11 DeaTh etc... [Note that 'w' and 'h' don't count as consonants.] Via these images it becomes possible to easily study al sorts of lists. For instance: List of fruits: 1. Banana 2. Apple 3. Pear Think of some crazy images: a banana wearing a hat, Noah sitting in his ark that is hewn out of a huge apple, you in a restaurant enjoying the marvelous combination of ham and pear. It takes two seconds per item, and with very minimal reviewing you will remember it for months or even years. Also, with this method you can quickly pick out any specific number on the list.

Acronyms are great for learning anatomy! The majority of anatomy is lists like the 12 cranial nerves, or orders like arteries, veins and nerves reaching an organ. My favourite is "redbull addict victim" which means: in the Right lung from top to bottom you will find the Bronchus then the Artery and finally the Vein. :)

Acronyms are good but. If you go for etymological definition may b you can grasp concepts too cause anatomy is not only about memorising it's also how strong your concepts are.

In fact for the first trick, as long as the last digit of those numbers add up to 10, the trick still works. Of course, the last digit can be from 1 through 9 only, for example 68 x 62 = 4216.
