Hi Friends, in this tutorial I am explaining how to pait forground, midground and background to improve your painting. How to interpret what you see in real life using visual language for the painting to tell a story. How to use valus, tones and edges in different grounds and why it is important.
Hope it is helpful, if so please like, subscribe and share.
Happy painting!

this is an incredible lesson - the painting when it's done almost looks like a magic trick where the human observer fills in the blanks.

Thank you Mark! I have Patreon at the moment if you're interested. I share a lot of good stuff there, not just show and tell. I usually receive "you are the only one who explains why" feedback on my teaching style. It's only $15. Also, I would recommend, going through all the demos without preference of subject and even if you don't want to paint just listen. Honestly my biggest progress was due to lots of listening before painting. Practicing without knowing exactly what and why close to useless. Best wishes!

Hi Nina, thank you for this. Do you have another video explaining the tonal numbers you mentioned please.
@nvfineartstudio7296
@nvfineartstudio7296 6 месяцев назад
Thank you! Yes, I do. It has green 200 number as thumbnail. One of the oldest. But, I have the numbers there 1 black to 10 white, this is what you see on grey scale tools. But, as we paint in watercolor from light to dark, I find it confusing, so count them backwards (not just me, haha). So now I use 1 for white and go down to 10 as black. I feel like I need to update this "200" video to be consistent.
@hotspursam4972
@hotspursam4972 6 месяцев назад
@@nvfineartstudio7296 Thank you Nina, I understand your system now. Like you in my mind White paper is 1 and black is 10 for the reason you state re tones. That’s how I number my grey and colour tone scales. When it comes to chroma/intensity I number the other way round 10 to 1 or 0 Oh btw, I joined your Patreon Creative tier after I wrote my comment.

Hi Nina thank you for another of your helpful instructions. Just one question: do you stretch your paper and if so, how do you do it? Kind regards, Al
@nvfineartstudio7296
@nvfineartstudio7296 Год назад
Thanks Alaudin! No, not in a traditional way. I spray the back of the paper if it's from a roll and tape it with masking tape to the board. If it's from a flat pack (full sheet or half) I just tape it straight to the board. I don't paint too wet, and even if the paper buckles during the first wash it doesn't bother me. I don't like the traditional stretching, you tend to get too precious and lose spontaneity after all the pre-work you've done to the paper 🤷😉

@nvfineartstudio7296
@nvfineartstudio7296 11 месяцев назад
Hi Bogdan, in this demo I am using Silver Black Velvet #0, but most recently I've been using NEEF needle brush #6 (for a sheet of paper larger than 1/4 imperial I would recommend #8)
@bogdangabrielalexe710
@bogdangabrielalexe710 11 месяцев назад
@@nvfineartstudio7296 thanks for the response. I really appeciate that. Maybe is irrilevant for you, but you and a few of watercolor artist (like Joseph Zbukvic and Chien Chung-Wei)are my best mentors for tecnique and stuff to use. Last time i painted I had to struggle a little to make thin long defined lines with an escoda prado nr 8. So today i ordered some new brushes ( upgradings) and i took your stuff as exemple. Mainly i switched my escoda ultimo mops to GOLD Aquario but i didnt find out what measure of rigger to use. Now i know it was a Neef brush. Thanks again.
