You mean the continental knitting? In some countries that's actually what you learn first, not the english way (aka not holding the yarn with your left hand and rather wrapping it around)! This technique allows you to go a bit faster when knitting :)
I don't know anyone who knits different way. I guess that's continental European thing. For me, all american tutorials were super weird in the beginning. And I think it's easier way to knit because you don't need to move your hand so much, you just kinda lean on the yarn.
I actually knit that way. I used to crochet before picking up knitting and i didnt want to change my hand posture much. So i accidentally just taught myself continental knitting.
why are there so many confused comments about continental knitting, borderline rude in some of them. I would have thought people understand that there are different ways to knit.
