How to Increase Range on your Electric Bike for Free! 

I use my ebike power in the mornings only to power my odometer. It's a "downhill" trip so the motor isn't necessary. Going home "up hill" is slightly necessary so i use level 1 of 9 PAS to get up the hills.

My DIY ebikes don't have the pedal assist sensors hooked up, so I got used to throttle and pedal with no assist. On my new Biktrix, I put the assist down to 0 and use throttle only on hills or to get up to speed. I can't use pedal assist to get past 20mph. It's a lot easier to throttle up past 20, then pedal hard to keep motor usage low. I keep it in pedal assist 0 so that I know the feeling of the gears with no motor. Pedaling the fat tire Biktrix Stunner is a lot harder than my DIY 2.2 inch wide wheel bikes. This is good, because it's made me a lot stronger at pedaling. I can go 10 miles with hardly touching the battery. It's getting back home where I lean more on the throttle. Going out with friends, we rarely go over 15, meaning I hardly touch the throttle even in assist level 0!

Use re-gen braking if you have it, especially downhill.

You need to set the height of the bike seat correctly with the ball of the foot on the pedal and the knee slightly bent.

I own a budget 750w hub moror ebike with a 48v 15ah battery and manage range 0f 95km with only pedal assistand by using max 3rd level of assist at str8s and 2nd level at uphills ) ! I also sometimes carry with a second bat. and manage 180km distance ! Often at str8s and downhill put assist on...0 and ...work my legs ! Also i have replace freewheel from 14~28 to 11~28 ! I can feel pedals over 40kmh !!

I have 2 batteries a ( Standard ) 48V 13ah, and an ( extended range) 48V 21ah battery. The standard battery can get 50 miles on a single charge ( 4 - 6 hours ), but If the extended range battery 48V 21ah goes from 50 - 90 miles on a single charge. How can I get the extra 40 miles to max out on the battery based on it's run time for charging.

If you provide 20% of the power, the math works out that you will go 25% further, not 20%.

The Bafang BBSO2 750w 48v-10ah weak on on pedal assist 5 max flat only 7-8 miles dead. It on a Trek 4500 hard tail. I have a lot hills in a small radius. I should’ve gotta a big battery. A less aggressive tire cheaper option.

My bike has an amp meter. My advice is monitor the amps and do things to minimize amps. Ex. Riding 28 mph requires 20 amps but slowing down just a tad drops the amps by half.

Hello NLR team, I have been riding my Gen3 Outcross for awhile now and I have noticed something interesting that could be improved. That is, maps that accoumodate ebike speeds. Bike route est time of arrival on Google maps is super inaccurate I usually arrive 30-40% quicker to my destinations ranging from 10-25 miles. Question up for debate, should mapping services have an ebike mode to estmiate time of arrival? Topic of thought.

Why don’t they make an e-bike where the pedals act as a generator so you can charge it as you ride

Knowing where there are free plugs would be good to know. Get lithium iron phosphate battery rather than lithium ion becuase of charging and discharging to 100% and more cycles.

What if you have a 48V 21ah extended range battery that's ( 50km - 90km in range ) whereas the standard battery is only 50km in range ? I'm only using the 48V 21ah extended range battery for everyday use, and would the maximum number between the Speedometer and Odometer play a part with the 48V 21ah Extended range battery ?

how difficult is it to pedel without the battery powered up, can you just turn on the power when its needed for a steep hill or something then turn it off again and pedel, is it just like pedeling a regular bike or is it much harder?
