Thank you for another useful video. Sometimes I forget to use Epsom salt spray and wonder what to do when the plants go pale. Very interesting that bigger pots produce bigger plants! No wonder my chilli plants never became bigger than a foot! Brilliant tips. Thank you for sharing and helping all of us get a better crop.🙏
Thank you, we are really having to work hard this year with the Naga plants! On the topic of chillies, how well do the black Naga chilli plants do outside? We are thinking of trying them next season. Best wishes.
As usual great tips and information from a wonderful father son duo. But let me give you a tip that works great for chillies and tomatoes. This tip is in regards to the pots you use. I see your useing standard pots. But I find that members of the nightshade family that produce lots of fruit do better with bottom watering containers. Please bear with me while I describe how I set up my container. I like to grab 5 gallon buckets ensuring they are made of food safe plastics. Next you will need some empty used soda cans and a small pvc pipe. Take a small drill bit and drill holes on the bottom ring of the can. Cut the pvc pipe on an angle ( this prevents clogs) place the cans on the bottom of the bucket drinking hole up. Place the pvc pipe in the bucket against the wall of the bucket( it should be a little taller than the bucket. Now mix coconut noire ( husks) into some soil and pack it in between the cans and pvc pipe ( this should be packed pretty tightly at this stage) now drill a hole on the side of the bucket about 1 inch above the top of the can line. Now loosely fill the soil in to the top of the 5 gallon bucket you don't want this compacted like around the cans. The pvc pipe acts as a water / nutrient fill tube. The cans act as a water reservoir. The hole on the side prevents the planter from waterlogging. If you get enough rain some years you never have to water them. The same concept can be used with bigger containers by useing 1 gallon milk jugs instead of cans. This technique works great for any strong root plant that requires extremely consistent watering like tomatoes and chillies. Hopefully this explanation was clear. This technique has single handedly changed my gardening. Making my plants grow bigger and has given me less work throughout the year.
Yes Epson salt is amazing. As a cool tip add Epson salt to the water in your vases to make cut flowers last alot longer. ( it's a major ingredient in those packages that come with roses and such when you buy bouquets)
Your videos are fantastic and educational. I have learned a lot about Naga Chilli growth. There's a big Naga Morrich plant I overwintered from last year. It is producing a lot of fruit however the Naga Morrich fruit are not particularly hot, very bland. Please can you advise why that is? Jzk!
