How to infiltrate Forward Operating Bases (FOB) [MGSV TPP] 

As soon as it said in the video "Caution rain approaching" it actually started to rain where I live

its suprisingly effective to Kill/KO ONE guard and sneak while carrying his body thruought the whole Base. It make it alot harder for enemies to spot you.

I actually like going into overly defended bases because the challenge is so thrilling even though I tend to lose most of the time but I have succeeded several time.

The Square camo gives better stealth than sneaking suit. I mean, if they have nvg, use sneaking suit but if they don't, use square.

Watching and learning how to infiltrate an enemy FOB because a bugger decided to invade and kill all of my staff before dying. Can't wait to retaliate.

if you dont want to lose staff you play as, set them as a DIRECT CONTACT. then, you keep them even if they die/get fultoned.

Most likely the best FOB guide I've seen. Really good job, and I'm probably going to shamelessly use these loadouts until the MGO3 comes out in a few days.

Really good video, very helpful. I haven't played any FOB yet as I've just barely finished all the story missions and I want to upgrade more shit before I think about playing online. Love the game and the FOB mode looks really fun and interesting; just a bit confusing, especially since I haven't even tried it yet. Years late to say I much prefer tough guy because half the time I cock up sneaking and get mobbed and the tough guys die less easily. Also i like that you lived dangerously taking non-contract staff out

Those days when you could find a loaded BD platform with almost no security...

On area's like the command platform you can avoid certain area's where you can be spotted on the main platform by using the pipes to scale straight up to skip a platform or two.

I've never figured out why more people don't use the Riot SMG. It's not as inaccurate as the description makes it out to be and if they have a helmet you can still take them out quickly with shoots to the body or face, especially if you want to take them alive.

I've found something out (on Xbox one at least) when you die on an fob of you immediately fully quit the game you won't lose your staff member, they won't be blockaded, and they won't be able to retaliate

My experience so far has been only on one platform, as i haven't upgraded my FoB as to infiltrate higher-ranked targets, i've just finished the story/80% of the sideops and will most def be getting into FoB and uploading my own experience, this has been a good insight into what to expect and how to go about dealing with certain things. Will definitely get back to you on what i find works and what not, if you haven't already discovered new things yourself.

man my favourite gun is the tornado 6, plus the stn shotgun, and the super sniper, along with my sv-sneaking suit.

WOW I had no idea you could mark guards from the chopper. A few adjustments I'd make - Upgrade that Noctocyanin ASAP! - Silenced Serval (use Brennan silencer on Custom Serval) = Insta kill to any body part - Macht37L with dot sight and foregrip instead of the Wu. Also Burkov > Wu. - Always deploy at night, the security team don't use NVGs. As for Heroism, you get plenty just by reaching the core, don't worry about it. And for defence - Battle Dress, SP Helmet, Shield and Kampf Pistole. Wait for the red circle on the map, mark it, then shoot a grenade nearby to flush the enemy out or maybe hit them with splash damage. Either way you're basically a walking tank. A handy hint for infiltrating the med platform core btw - Get up two floors above the core door and lob a smoke down under the slot under the wall. Hop over the wall, drop and catch, drop and catch, pull up and you're at the door with smoke cover. :)

I feel like everytime I FOB enemies see me through walls during night while I'm wearing square camo fatigues.

going non lethal can be advantageous if you aim for the right spot if you attach a high durability suppressor to the non lethal AM MRS 73 sniper rifle it can be really useful if you knock out the guards and throw them off the platform it doesn't count as killing them but their dead bodies won't be spotted by other guards if a defender deploys he can't wake them up and if the guard is higher ranking like S S+ or S++ you can extract them right off the platform and even if you're spotted and eliminated by the rival player's security team or a defender you will still have what you extracted off their platforms even if you don't reach the core as long as the rival doesn't retaliate and reach your core within the 3 day period it takes for captured staff to be fully persuaded to join your ranks

when sending an attack unit to soften them up, is the target informed of who's attacking them (and thus can retaliate), or is retaliation only possible when your spotted during infiltration?

You mentioned something about picking an A+ staff because you had a lot of them and such. Do you mean to say if we infiltrate as a non-Snake character, they can be killed or stolen?

one tip is to find out were the powerpoint is on each part of the base's and go for that first when your invading, it turns off the cameras, anti stealing and all that good stuff, take out the guard the comes to investigate the loss of power tho

So, I went to the parts of the video that looked like what I was looking for and didn't find it, so if I missed your advice here, my apologies. But do you have any tips for extracting crates? Considering the recommendation is "stay below deck", what are your tips for actually getting on deck to get crates?

The Semi Auto version of the brennan ( i forget what its called) is great for defending because its always a 1 shot kill, regardless of battle dress. I always take that with me when defending, has not failed so far

I'm know I'm a tad late but, does setting your FOB defense to non lethal or lethal really do anything for you point wise or is it just all prefrence?

Why do u suggest to not play as snake?

I always searched for an FOB with a small number of platforms but a high number of resources I was looking for (fuel, obviously). And then I'd systematically take out all of their guards, unless they scan high enough (S or higher). I pack along a customized Assault Rifle with a grade 2 suppressor, a fully upgraded rocket launcher (for when shit hits the fan), usually the CVG 25 (or whatever it's called, the one with multiple homing rockets). I take the tranq gun just in case. After I deploy I take out the people and start stealing anything not nailed down as quickly as possible hoping that the other player doesn't invade. If the other player invades to defend their base, knowing that they deploy at the main target is helpful. Whip out the rocket launcher from far away and lock on to him. Keep moving but just try and blow them up. If they invade and you take them out, rush towards the target and leave the containers alone, since other players can be a pain in the ass. If you're defending, I found that the Bullhorn shotgun and a rocket launcher are your best friends. Usually, if you rush towards a spawn area (there are only 3) and have an itchy trigger finger you can knock them on their back and then finish them off.

I feel like such a stupid idiot right now. Reflex mode WORKS during FOB missions. I've had it turned off, 'cause I'm a hardcore kind of guy who likes a challenge (i.e. a stupid idiot...) so I've been struggling. Like, a lot. The odds are stacked against you already and turning reflex mode off is like shooting yourself in the foot and then running a marathon. Sigh, I'm a dipshit. Now I understand why other people "seem" to have an easy time of it. I say seem because I don't know, they may be struggling as well. That'd be a bit comforting, knowing that I'm not a complete dipshit and not the only one in the community who has trouble with the FOB stuff. Oye vay! In any case, great video man. There were definitely a couple of pointers that enlightened me about how this stuff works. I'm going to try out some of the tips tomorrow when I wake up. Cheers man.

I'm not dickish enough to infiltrate, the only time I did, it was nonlethal, and I did not steal anything, it was only for the achievement. But when defending, the key is to identify the target. After you do that, it's pretty much over. There are reports of hackers and cheaters already, at least on the PC version, but it seems that using non-lethal tactics can knock them out even with the hacks they have implemented.

another one is to make loads of noise ie throw a nade then flank the enemy's that come to check out what happened, sometimes its groups of like 4 soldiers, then chuck a sleep nade at them when u get a chance

I find it interesting that the game would give you an option to change cartridges, especially ones so similar as the .308 and 7.62 NATO. They're very similar but you'd need a little more head space to (around 1.6 to be more clear) to make them match brass perfectly. Still, it's interesting to have the option. I wonder if it's because you have obvious barrel changes as well? Kinda cool.

The Second Primary is probarly the most important thing to take from this video. I like to change the ammo type, so that I have more ammo to use, its more or less does the same, just a little less penetration; only becomes a problem vs the Defender (Then again though, what if you burn through all your ammo?). The route that works best for me, is to spawn in on the large platform (With the hanger) go up the stairs, throw a magazine to get the guards to look away and start rolling across the platform, behind the containers. Then you will need to throw another magazine to stop the guard noticing you go down the ladder. Once you cross using the under passage, always exit by crawling under the pipe; you'll usually see a camera and some laser wires, just shoot them. Guards will be distracted by this and this sets up an easy crossing. Follow the railing round until your at the same area you would have spawn into on the other platform. Remember the guards are all going to be facing the direction forward from you now, because you destroyed that camera, so just roll to the underpass again via the same route (Up the stairs, behind the containers, down the ladder, across the underpass). Some platforms this wont work on because the heli pad blocks the route, forcing you to go up onto the platform, so look for FOBs with a layout that'll make this work. Once your on the 1st platform, always head for the generator and destroy it (make sure you keep hidden). This will stop all the power going to cameras, anti-theft devices and some lights, making this final platform a lot easier. I like to pop some nocticoytin(?)and take out all the guards on the final platform; choke-points on corners work well (Use hand of Jethuty to pull and extract guards in the cover of the corner). Eventually, they'll stop coming to your location, there may be a few left still so save some nocticoytin and make your way to the core of the FOB. Hope this helps :D

Decoys are actually SUPER good against enemy players if you think you might get into an up-close fight. they have a VERY high auto-aim priority so unless they are using a mouse they will almost always snap to the decoy before you, provided you are within a few feet of it. Actually got an invader with an E-stun decoy by getting him to chase me around a corner, popped up a decoy, then dove for cover. he comes charging up and shotguns the decoy without thinking. I even had enough time to C-4 him to death before he got up!

@ 25:10 the tranq version is better off being used only if yoi're going for all stealth no alert no kill completions which not only do you get higher espionage score for doing successfully but also neither killing anyone or triggering any alerts will prevent retaliation wormholes from opening up for the person you infiltrated that said though to the main point I normally use the lethal weapons whenever I HAVE to go loud but just because you do get spotted or go loud doesn't mean you can't still reach the core or successfully hold off an attack players owning higher level FOBs will often times try to uber roid out the security settings to try to make it impossible to slip past the defenses without fighting through but even if fighting through that doesn't mean that you can't still reach the core

informative. When defending i tend to chill at the objective with a brennan sniper rifle and scout them out with the scope. once i've tagged them even if they live they can't enter the objective until they've cleared the alert.

so showing tips on combat and sneaking is all fine and dandy but how about thing you need to know before even deploying? like where to deploy, should i deploy in the command center? or should i start at the base construction platform, do AI respawn? its pretty easy to pick bases that wont have a person defending it so how about tips that aren't just pvp based? like covering the different defenses they will have in place, and weather you should rush for the win or spend some time stealing everything that isnt nailed down? and what about nukes?

why would you infiltrate with the combat suit lol. Its way louder than the sneaking suit. Also it does not protect you from getting seen by nvg

Regarding sniper rifles and nonlethal weapons for security; I find the advantage of snipers is their sight range, some of the 'tower' perches will have sight lines to the lower deck pathways which can really screw up an infiltrator if your base design allows for it. I enjoy shotguns too, but I find the majority of the staff on close-quarters get deployed with riot shields and SMGs, which simply don't do the DPS. Meanwhile midrange LMGs just chew people up and spit them out, even from suprising ranges, if they can draw sight on someone. They also never stop firing, because a 150 round box is a hell of a drug. As for nonlethal, they seem to have a little difficulty getting to the player after stunning him to capture him, which can be a problem, but the player character seems to have less 'hitpoints' agaisnt nonlethal weapons than lethal ones. Meanwhile the mortars, which can fire for suppression in response to your sniper fire even when you haven't raised an alert, become teargas, which can propagate through walls and ceilings and other such nastiness.

So if you kill a player's security guards in a fob mission; are those staff members dead for the other player? or do they show up as injured?

Well, I already know about all of this. I have a special technique. Land at the drop point farthest. Then keep going left. You will reach a dead end. Turn back, go up ONE set of stairs and climb onto the vents. Follow the vents until you climb pipes. Bring Noctacyanin

About what yyou were saying about using .308 rounds a .308 is the civilian designation equivalent to a NATO caliber 7.62 x 51mm round which various military issued Sniper Rifles have been chambered for in real life the main difference between the .308 or. 223 Winchester rounds vs the 7.62 or 5.56 cartridges is the NATO caliber rounds have thicker shell casings what affects the velocity in each in a real world scenario is how high the grain of the bullet is or how much powder is behind it

Is it worth it to take all their crates?

Now that I've actually done myself a bit, I've discovered it's about as fun as the PvP in Dark Souls where one side just has a hideous advantage, you don't get terribly much for winning, you lose a ton when you lose, and no thought to balance went into it :P

Do you have any videos for full on security stealth fob? That's all that seems available and I get chopped in pieces the first 30 seconds of fob missions.

Still unsure of the Demon points aspect to this game, does that run by reducing heroism or is that a separate stat in its own right? If Demon points are seperate then killing foes reducing heroism AND adds to demon points....this is a question if anyone knows please reply! Oh and BTW great video!

I'm the opposite with my game play. my fobs are low e ranks with shotguns. So not worth stealing and there's a lot of them so it's not easy. I go to s rank fobs and take a trank shot gun and take them out one shot them steal them. 30 s ranks in one haul isn't bad. I use the sniper to take out drones and cameras to create confusion. I get to the top of the deck first thing it's the best place to start marking soldiers. I'll get through with no alerts and make out like a bandit.
