Thank you so much for making this video. I followed it step by step. It made the installation really easy for me to do, as I am not a very handy lady 😁 Thanks again!!
What light kit did you use? I have this fan and only found a plastic kit sold as "Altura by Hampton Bay" recommended by Home Depot. Are others compatible?
This fan is compatible with any of the Hampton Bay universal light kits. For aesthetic reasons, we would recommend a bowl style kit. The one we used was model #91199. It is basically the same as the Altura light kit, but has a glass bowl and 2 bulbs. The Altura light kit has a plastic bowl, but looks just like frosted glass when installed and lit.
Thanks for watching! The safety cable is an installation requirement for Canadian fans. A safety cable is not included with the US version of this fan.
I would suggest re-pairing the remote with the fan. The most important step for the pairing process is making sure the power to the fan is off at the breaker or wall switch before beginning the pairing process. If the pairing process doesn't solve the issue, I would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service team at 1-800-986-3460. They'll be better able to troubleshoot and help get the fan working properly.
Can a universal remote be used with this fan? If so do I need to replace the remote receiver that comes with the fan or will the receiver learn the code for the universal remote as well?
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
@Mauricio Marvin Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
+Laurie Kuchler Hi laurie. The best way to start the pairing process is to start fresh. Remove the battery from the remote and turn off the breaker switch and wall switch (if the fan is wired to a wall switch). It is super-importantant that the fan is not receiving any power at the beginning of the process. Then, replace the battery according to the diagram inside the battery compartment. Next, turn on the breaker and the wall switch - this will restore power to the fan. **IMPORTANT** within 30 seconds of restoring power to the fan, press and hold the off button on the remote for 5 seconds (count slowly - "one thousand one", "one thousand two", "one thousand three", etc). The quicker you press the off button on the remote the better, do not wait or 30 seconds after turning the power on at the breaker & wall switch before pressing the off button. Hopefully this helps, but if this doesn't work, or if you have a different style remote, you can call The Home Decorators Collection help line at 1-800-986-3460. They will be able to troubleshoot the issue and send out a replacement receiver if necessary.

Unlike other remote control fans, the receiver is preinstalled in the switch up, so there is no wiring instruction for the receiver. It is shown in the light kit section at the end because the receiver needs too be removed and then reinstalled if attaching a light kit.
