How to install a 7 pole plug on a trailer. Mictuning 7 pole plug with 8 foot cord and junction box 

PSA from someone that crimps wires for a living, there is a break in the metal portion of the terminal on the top side when looking at the brush of the terminal. That is designed to go into the wire, so always make sure to crimp it that way and not from the sides. Great video!

Put dielectric grease on all those wire terminals and bolts. Otherwise it will corrode and cause problems

The video was well done and clear so we could see what you did. Great job showing how to detect which pole was for which function. A guy just starting out would probably have trouble with that if he didn't find your video. I wish you would have shown more detail of the box. I'm concerned about salt getting in there. I live in WI and salt is a terror on electrical connections. I could probably spray all the contacts with protective gel, there are some that will not conduct electricity. I have worked on autos since 1964 and it bothers me the box didn't have standardized color coding. For automotive use, RED should have been the power wire. As you did, a guy could work around that but it was not to my liking at first. I would probably have to move the factory wiring to be standard and paint the black wire red. Green - the R is for right turn. Yellow - the L is for left turn. Brown - is for tail lights and markers. No clue in the color name, just have to remember it. And the white for ground on trailers. That looks like a very sturdy set up that should last many years with no maintenance.

You need to get some 1 hole 3/8” straps and screw em into the tongue down the side to hold the cable down til it gets past the mount. That way it won’t be in the way or get snagged on anything

Jamie, this is a real good video. You mentioned that you could come out of the box and go to a battery to keep it charged for a winch (or really anything 12v that needs power). Question.....can you mount the winch on the trailer tongue and wire it straight to the box? Of course, I understand that the truck will need to be plugged in in order for the winch to have power, but that's ok with me. I'm more interested in pulling stuff on my trailer while I'm hooked to it. So, can you eliminate the battery and hook up a winch directly? I'm always having to go pick up my buddies pioneer's when they break down lol. Seriously, good video .... I'll be getting one for my trailer!

Got that same 7way on all my trailers, swapped all my 4 ways my truck had 6inch lift and nun of mine reached my truck, 7way u don’t have to worry about your pug coming unplugged

How you know which cable goes to which color?

...no break-away wiring, maybe that trailer isn't big enough to require it...would you just run a wire to your positive pole, through the break-away switch, and then to your braking terminal?

Any risk of being shocked or shorting out trailer

Hey there, I purchased one of these, and I liked it in every way, except one…. The three green yellow and brown light terminals did not match color with function. So when I plugged in, all my light were wrong. I had to use a multimeter to sort out the function and require. So now it works but my Tralee green, for right turn, goes to the brown, on the plug, has anyone else had this problem??

Got one of those for a trailer that I had built with electric brakes but found out the color codes don't match at all 🤦‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ had to plug it into my truck to figure out everything

JFYI! Every easy mounting location for that box to be mounted means it can be destroyed easily! Ask me how I know! Put it where road debris, bumpers, jacks etc! can't get to it. Thanks

Your first mistake . Never loan out your trailer . I did one time . It came back with only 3 tires . Where is the 4th tire . Idk somewhere.
