Very descriptive video.. installed a shower door a couple of months ago very similar except it was on a fiberglass shower stall...no drilling through ceramic tiles though, and only a single door. Your video provided a couple great hints. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I had guys do work on my house and they never finished and they lost all the extra parts for the shower doors along with the instructions. I was so worried I was going to have to buy a new set. Now I can finish it myself!
Thanks, great video. I am installing a shower door this coming December during my Christmas vacation. I had a complete bathroom remodel two years ago this month and it is now time to install the shower door. The new tiles are also porcelain and I wasn't sure how to drill into the tile without damaging it. I'll save this video.
I would never have thought to use my diamond-blade tile saw to cut the extrusion. Silly me thought it was just for ceramic tile! Thanks for the how-to, Bob!

Only tip, if you caulk the inside on the bottom, the water that gets caught in the track won’t run out back into the tub and will be trapped and cause mold over the years. Great video tho !

My cheapy doors from home depot didn't have any instructions at all. Your video helped a lot. One thing I had trouble with was the ROLLERS. I installed them on the wrong side of the door. One side is flush with the door, the other isn't. I moved the rollers to the other side and it went right up.

The is the clearest video I have found - however i have a problem - it's a re-use retrofit and the opening is about 5/8 inch tooo wide - any ideas how to plug that gap - the shower wall is fibreglass. thanks!
I can't recommend how to "rig" something up in all good conscience. I have to give you my straight honest answer. I would recommend getting the correct size to fit your area. That being said I'm sure you may be able to build a wall out to make this work but without seeing the situation I can make no suggestions, sorry. Thanks for watching.

I wish my landlord hired you. They can't even install the top properly. They want to glue it in place and it just came off. Always having the doors come off track.. Tired of messing with it. I finally just took down the doors and am going to use shower curtains....
Good how-to but, i'd make just one change. The bottom rail should have silicone on the outside part and not inside to make sure that any water that could get under it will go back in the tub and not outside.
Good video. Would have liked to have seen more on the final caulking of the frame, but other than that, it does help....perhaps it you monitor these comments you can reply with some details on the caulking. Why didnt you caulk both sides of the bottom part of the frame when you laid it down? Do you caulk the entire inside and outside of the frame or can you get away with caulking the inside only? Do you leave any escape routes for water, like you do with with installing retro fit windows? Do you just use your finger or a caulking tool? I have had good luck with the tools made of silicon., but it's been for heavier caulk application on window trims,etc. Thanks.
It is possible to have too much caulk. If you have more than needed it could leak therefore I only caulked one side of the bottom., I did caulk the inside and outside but the only reason I caulked the outside was to give it a finished look, it really does not need to be caulked. No water should be getting into the door so I did not leave a weep hole for water to escape. Generally I do not use anything to smooth out the caulking except my fingers. Thanks. WHY aren’t the side panels flat against the wall? Shouldn’t they just press up flat against the wall and get screwed in? Why leave all that empty space behind it?
Once they are all lined up and plumb they get tightened up and they are pressed against the wall there will be very little gap. Any gaps that there may be will be filled in by caulking. Thanks for watching.

great video, but i was trying to figure out how to make shower steamer cheaply, do you think this way would work if I made the glass door to the ceiling and tile the ceiling?
No, the tile is installed over concrete board but since I built the shower walls and knew there would be a shower door that I had to install later I made sure to back up the concrete board with wood to give my shower door a solid surface to attach to. This way holds better than the anchors that need to be used if there is no support directly behind the cement board. I hope this makes sense, it is hard to explain without showing you. I have tile on bathroom walls. What kind of drill bit would be needed ? Also, I don't have that tool where you put water and use that hole to drill thru. I have basic drill. Do I need to get that tool essentially?
The drill? I believe the drill used in this video was a ridgid. Almost any drill will work but I would recommend a diamond bit for tile. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching.

i rent and my landlord is lazier than me, the glass sliding doors are beyond molded and rusted, the bottom tray acts as a petri dish and so im trying to do it myself because its MY health he does not care about while i do. It would depend on several factors, size being the first and then quality would be second. You have to cut the too and bottom track separately. They are usually off a bit but normally not an inch unless there is tile or something else on the bottom and. It on the top. Just do 2 measurements one all the way at the bottom and cut the bottom track to that length and then one where the top track goes and cut it to that length and you should be good. What size and shape rollers did you use in this video? It looks exactly like the doors, tracks, etc that came with my used home but there are no rollers to be found anywhere. TIA
6:23 do you have to screw the bottom rail in as well? my bottom rail keeps moving and the caulk cracks and falls apart, the idiots that did the job also cut it about 1/4" to small so it slides to both sides of the wall, they tried to fool me by putting a ton of caulk on both ends but that didn't hold and now I can see the gaps...
If your bottom rail is cut short I feel you will constantly have issues with the bottom rail. The bottom rail should fit tight between the 2 side rails and require only caulking to hold it into place and seal it. All that said you may have a situation that using a screw at this point may be your best option. Hope this help, Thanks for watching.
