Gotta say, the jack/breaker bar combination is rather ingenious.
@AdmiralRustyShackleford
@AdmiralRustyShackleford 8 лет назад
+UndergroundTrev Slowly trying to break loose a stuck blot like that has a much greater chance of stripping the heads. It's better to hit the breaker bar with a hammer, the quick force will break it loose with less chance of stripping the head. I've never had problems with bolts that way, even rusted out ones as long as you soak them in penetrating oil and/or PB Blaster.

@Justaguyyoutubin 9 лет назад
cobra454tim Well if you want to know...? "Brake" is an issue. "Loss" instead of loose. Youve got a few other grammatical errors including some double spacing. I was actually commenting on the idea that you think hes "thinking beyond a typical engineer". An engineers job is to find new ways to do things. Engineers are paid to think outside the box and rework traditional ideas. So your comment was sort of redundant and misplaced. Unless you were trying to say that he is thinking beyond a typical mechanic... In which case you would still be wrong because this is well known trick of the trade around shops.

Thumbs up for actually working on your car unlike most people Engineering Explained for future reference the midpipe refers to the section between the headers and the catback, and includes the cats (if the car has them). At least that's how it goes with most v engines. I've seen front wheel drive cars with a cat welded to the headers as well

using gloves while installing a stainless steel exhaust is smart because the oils and acids on your skin can cause 304 stainless steel to rust/corrode in those spots, especially in high temp applicants. stainless steel is not 100% stainless, and it's not 100% rust proof. it is simply more stain/corrode/rust resistant. thank you, Engineering Explained, for these helpful videos!

I have had 2 Yonaka 2.25in exhausts over the years on my 97 LS and they are awesome!! Especially for how inexpensive they are.. Only thing I did was I had a different resonator welded up differently so that it sat up in the exhaust well like an OEM exhaust.. The "Droop" seems to be a pretty common issue with these exhausts.. Great video as usual!

I wonder if the lighter actually helped at all? I've always heard you need MAP or Oxy/Ace to get anything done, I've tried using propane in the past and it did nothing. I also tried PB blaster, a 19.2V impact, and using a jack on a breaker bar with a pipe on it and all I did was bend the breaker bar and I had to spend an hour cutting it instead. Maybe I just have bad luck with rusty parts...
@EngineeringExplained
@EngineeringExplained 10 лет назад
AgentHydra The lighter definitely helped. Heat is heat. I couldn't get it off without using it. I used a propane torch on a few that were more stubborn (and wouldn't budge just using the lighter), also did the job.

With new drivers come new questions. I see you do know your stuff both on and off road but I would like to see some videos focused on the area of rock cralwing. Some topics are: roll cages, different sized axles, bigger tires and changes you would have to make to support them, and beadlocks. This would open more options for videos and I know you're probably close to running out of ideas for new ones. Thanks!

Any idea how to get this to fit on a 98 gsr? 94-99 gsr has a shorter A pipe than every other integra model so the yonaka cat back doesn’t reach the cat converter. I emailed yonaka if getting both the yonaka exhaust header and cat back would solve the fitment problem and they said their cat back exhaust ends with a three bolt flange and their exhaust header ends with a two bolt flange. And they still recommended having s muffler shop add a length of test pipe. Maybe also getting the yonaka high flow catalytic converter would solve the issue?
