I had fun installing mine. yeah the rear camera was little more work than the front. Especially feeding the cable through the rubber grommet. Great job on the video bud. Have a good one
That is the best front and rear car cameras installation video I have seen. The only thing I would recommend is to keep extra data /power cable (about 18 inches or more) in the front headliner so the camera can be moved later on (just in case it is in the line of vision). You never know when it may have to be moved.
Really nice, super clean job! My wife got me one for Christmas. I went to install it and it did not work. I contacted Fitcam and they are sending a new one out. Their customer service is outstanding and very responsive. They turned a bad experience into a good one. I have a 2021 Highlander XLE Hybrid. My is front view only. Take care and thanks for a great video.
Very nice job I have a question In 2023 LE highlander they have laser sensor behind inside rearview mirror ( inside ) for line assist and pre collusion safety If we upgrade this camera as u r showing in video does it mess up toyota TSS safety system
It shouldn't at all because this Camera jus record what it say. it's not a laser or anything specific. It should work just fine and it shouldn't stop or mess with any of the other toyota workability.
I found your videos last week and am impressed. Thanks for helping us. I want to consider this dash camera, I think I can do it with the help of your video, I may struggle with the rear (or I may just do the front). I am considering parking mode, in which case I will pay someone to do it, is there any possible problem from battery drain when using parking mode? I live in Massachusetts and winters here are very cold. I have a 2022 Highlander XLE not sure how long the battery will last especially with this Stop/start feature on these new cars.
I have to tell you that I also leave in Where it also get really cold during the winter. if you want to do the parking mode, you will have to do with a batery back. those goes from $300 up to like 1K. depending on what you buys, if you have a busy stress and your car is parked outside definetly do the batery back. This decisions is really up to you depending on your budget. I have a battery pack for my car. but the owner of the Highlander did not want one at the time but she is actualy reconsidering. when she is ready I will make a video on the install as well. thanks for Watching.
@@CarStomIt thanks for your response. I checked the FITCAMX website, they sell the wiring harness for the parking mode for like $28 but they did also indicate that if you want parking mode to notify them prior to placing an order, may be they will make a deal and swab it out with the Y cable. With that you can do it without the battery pack. They sent me a video after I emailed them last night. I am gonna do just what you did for now. I park off street. Now my only challenge will be to route the wires to the back for the rear.
If you pop off the panel that says SRS AIRBAG you can insure the wire is behind the airbags not in front of them. It's dangerous if they deploy with a wire in front of them.
@@CarStomIt awesome! I just installed my rear camera on my 2017 slightly different b/c my rear window pops open but this video helped me get over initial fear of doing it. Thanks for posting this and responding.
Like most Dashcams, they suffer at Nighttime. Nice job installing it. Looks clean even though unable to see scratches in the plastic molding. All that matters, you like it, does the job for you, and you are all set. : )
While the look is clean I have 3 issues with this. 1) The lens is not adjustable. There should be some ability to as I believe there is too much of the hood being show on the MDX version 2) No sound to identify that the unit has powered on. I believe some of the earlier models had issues just dying after a month of use which was resolved. If this stops working you might not notice that small dim LED which shows if it is on. Even then you have no idea if it is working 3) With no voice you won't know if there is an issues with the microSD card With these issues IMO I would say to get a Viofo over this. Yes it might not look as hidden but I prefer functionality and knowing my device works or has some sort of issues instead of coming into a situation of an accident and then not having the video which I would need.
Well you have a point. But the camera was sent to me to try out and to properly test it o have to do a full install. So this is what I did. And I do agree with you. I like the VIOFO 4K 2 channel and I love this camera. But this camera is not cheap. If you get sen one for free to try why wouldn’t I
hi there i just received mine and installed it and all my toyota safety features got turned off did this happend to anyone else? and were you able to get it fixex
I did not have that issue everything Is still working and nothing was giving me any errors. maybe Disconnect it, connect the original stuff. then drive for like 10 min and see if it reset itself and everything is working. if they are working, then I want you to reconnect the camera with all the connections again. if they are doing the same thing that means that the car does not like that type of Camera and they system what version of the Highlander do you have?
