My builder had a fan on a box that the joist ran through! It straddles the actual board. So I had nowhere for the threaded stud to run up into and allow the wires to come out the top. I wound up drilling with a little spade bit to get relief for the wires.

HELP! What if I’m trying to use the swag hook in drywall for a very heavy chandelier? My electrical box is side mounted to a rafter but to hang the chandelier where I want, it would have to be hung from a swag hook in drywall. I’m nervous that the drywall won’t hold.....

The wood in the picture is not a rafter that would be a ceiling joist. I know you know that,but a newbie might be confused.

Can a chadalier of 20 lb be mounted to a single stud, and supported safely by two wooden screws, each of them 4.5" long?

Im an electrician please dont use these brackets unless you can lift the light with 1 arm its worth paying someone to go into the attic and install a real bracket with screws I personally dont trust these.
