Great tidy install, very professionally done, just an idea you could have left enough on the data cable and doubled it back down and out through the wall to the meter box, just a thought, there are so many ways of doing things and I think you were spot on.

Not sure about burying hi-tuff directly into stones without earthed mechanical protection i.e Swa cable. Maybe would have installed hi- tuff surface for this reason.

Neat install Lee. I install ct in board in these occasions as making a joint is not good practice if not necessary in my opinion. *Just a note for the next one if the chargepoint doesn't have a display like the Hypervolt then it can be mounted between 750mm - 1200mm so could of gone below window. Only display units are 1200mm-1400mm.

Just a tip for safety. Start the pilot hole with a shorter bit of the same diameter. Yes it takes a few seconds longer, but making the hole with a longer bit has more of a potential to slip as the bit will sag. Having an hole that the long bit can go in means no slip.

I’ve never done it with a hypervolt before, but usually when there’s something you have to hang up you can turn it upside down and use the bottom holes as help, instead of having to measure and use your water level etc.

id say in a situation like this, i see nothing wrong with a wiska box in the meter cupboard for the CT's. Having another DB in there like you see on some installs yeah, that takes up all the room for upgrades in the future. But a 150mm wiska box isnt going to stop anyone putting in new equipment in the future.

HI Lee Enjoyed watching your installation, as said very professional executed, thinking ahead for a VE, I have a 32amp cable approx 10m in a ducting to my garage for my Joinery machines on a 16amp fuse, now retired, so not using the machines, is the cable large enough for a charger. Regards welshman2081

Nice job Lee, personally, for jobs like this I wouldn’t worry about having the CT clamp in the meter box, it’s there for a good reason and doesn’t take up space like someone sticking a 4 way DB in there does 😬 Your way turned out neater tho 👌🏼

Noy a very good install, using the meter box as a route and also putting ur armour in the same "trunking"(should of been a hockey stick that comes with the 1ph cabinet) as the main incoming. any overheating/melting of the armoured could cause damage to the 35mm incoming service as only a plastic sheet and then ur N+E and cores , that's why it runs on his own in a plastic electrical duct. I would advise u let ur costumer know about the risks of "hiding" that cable and putting it right.. PS... If anything goes wrong with the main incoming service in the section of your install your company would be liable to pay the DNO for any future repairs .. looking good dosent mean safe..
@antonygreen3791
@antonygreen3791 2 года назад
Mate that cable needs cleating under the shingle, especially as its not swa. What erection method is that? Its not clipped direct that's for sure, if its buried then it needs to be in a duct and actually buried 450mm. I put swa under shingle but I cleat it also.
@raymyhill2277

Run the trunking full length to the ceiling have a tee going into the board looks neater.

They don't really hold that well in red plugs as they are thinner, he could have used a smaller plug, but nearly every electrician will use predominantly red plugs, it may work loose over time.

Thanks Lee that looks great. Question: why do you need the data cable and CT if the charger can communicate with Wi-Fi?
@paulegan1476
@paulegan1476 2 года назад
The Data/CT is required to monitor the current flowing through the whole installation (hence putting it on incoming tails). This allows for the load management in the Hypervolt to do its part if someone turns on the likes of showers, kettles, Tumbles and cookers etc the same time as charging the car. The CT will detect it and ramp the car charge down until the current drops back.

I'd say if you can make your work just as safe as what is already in there, and any penetrations to the case are properly glanded and sealed, then unless 19th edition comes out saying specifically not to I'd have done the same with the ev cable
