We're in the process of refurbishing the house we've just bought. At some point we're going to get a 3-phase installation done so we can run high power green tech like a heat pump and very fast charger. 415VAC 100Amps, baby! _YEAH!_ 😂

I can recommend the dewalt 54v battery SDS mate. Goes through brick like butter. If you are dewalt already then the 54v batteries work in the 18v tools just run longer. 18v won’t work in 54v tools though. It’s expensive but once invested the price dosnt sting quite as much.

Nice easy install! It's definitely worth a thought fir future budget installs. What size D-line clips do you use for the EV Ultra cable and are they a tight fit or is there movement on the cable after wrapping round?
@authuruksake969
@authuruksake969 3 месяца назад
search for SD-CAB10B/20 (Black pack of 20 for about £10 or less if buy in bulk) Will fit 6mm EV Ultra or armoured swa on say 2nd slot, at a pinch will just grab 10mm 3 core armoured, unsure if it will stretch to 10mm armoured EV Ultra as that req 25mm swa glands. Basically, those D-Line clips will work on cables with a 10mm to 17mm diameter, they grab the cable very snug, check correct spacing to support cable, often 300mm spacing horizontal & 400mm vertical is about right or there about. Don't scrimp on spacing or it will sag over time & look ugly with drooping cables. (300mm spacing should clip 5 to 6m run of cable per pack, depending on drop/gradual bends on run) Check the spec for cable diameter you are using, if within 10mm - 17mm, then those clips will do you proud with a neat/snug finish

No, but you may find with some chargers the issue of having to wait for the time delay in order to complete your testing

From my understanding... the Ohme charger is great because it works with Octopus, meaning that Octopus tariffs work for ALL vehicles. Is this the same with Hydra ?? If not, then I don't see it as an Ohme replacement.

Whats the best charger
@authuruksake969
@authuruksake969 3 месяца назад
A free one that works & not being used Depends on EV & Energy Supplier amongst other things, if there was one to pick as a general one size "should" fit most... Ohme Home Pro 8m, the longer lead will come in handy for EV's with charge port at back if the driver can't reverse onto drive. 5m version will do if owner can park closer to charge point, but 8m is better if 5m is a bit of stretch. Make sure you uncoil all the cable when charging. No solar integration but tbh it isn't needed so much these days If you have a certain ultra smart EV like a Tesla, then any charger will work with Octopus Intelligent - even a 3 pin granny charger, as the Tesla does all the clever communicating. Otherwise it requires a specific charger for other EV's on Octopus Intelligent Go. Eon Next Drive is not charger specific - any charger will do, even a 3 pin granny

You not need to run armoured to chargers?
@authuruksake969
@authuruksake969 3 месяца назад
Nope, "tuf" cable will suffice in most instances. They do the EV ultra cable in both tuf & swa/armoured. Tuf will req a 25mm stuffing gland & usually swa will req a 20mm ip rated swa gland Either will do, depends on job - tuf is a bit easier to shape/handle, but sometimes you might get swa in heavy duty industrial areas or heck on offer. Tuf cable is generally used as it is quicker/straight forward to chuck in, especially going direct to EV charger plastic casing & swa gland would be a pita over a waterproof stuffing gland

I have a 16a commando socket on my wall fitted properly by my trusted sparks and a 16a 10 metre charge lead with an in line control box. No dicking around with apps or trying to match up smart meter tariffs with meters that you find incompatible, just set the delay to commence charging once cheap rate starts and set the upper limit in the car to stop charging before cheap rate ends. I leave the car at max 70%. Too many accounts, too many passwords, too many incompatibility issues with wifi, chargers, cars and smart meters. Just keep things simple. I could have gone for a 32 amp setup but we rarely do more than 50 miles in a day and can easily refill to 70% within the cheap rate window. If we go on a longer journey we'll just supplement with public or destination charging. Saved hundreds over buying a charger like this and having it installed. Enough to run the car for years ...

@@sotaelectrical Sorry, I should've said I appreciate what you've done in this video and the effort you've gone to explain the set up process (warts and all). I've bought plenty of things in the past that had to be set up and controlled via an app, to later find support drops away over time. Or worse still, the company ceases trading and the app vanishes! I think that all smart EVSE should have to conform to a standard, to enable commissioning and operation from any suitable app or service.
