I busted one of the studs that hold my driver's seat to the car, so replacing the seat track assembly is the easiest way to replace that stud.
This is really easy to do, all you need is a 1/2" socket and a phillips screw driver.
Seat Track Assembly - CJ Pony Parts - part # ST1
Nuts for seat studs - CJ Pony Parts - part # HW518
The car is a 1966 Mustang Coupe with a factory V8 and T5 transmission.
Shot with GoPro Hero 8 with the Media Mod, edited on Davinci Resolve 16.

I’ve noticed it before, but I’m speaking up on this one: I see some cool decisions going on in the background. It’d be cool to see a video about garage/shop organization. You clearly care about that, and there are a lot of us making a suburban garage function as a workspace. Keep up the good work sir.

Thanks for the feedback! I've thought about making a video like that, but honestly I kind of feel silly talking about it. For what it's worth, it's just the third bay of my garage, with kitchen cupboards I bought off Craigslist for storage (they were cheap), and a toolbox. I am mentally walking around my garage as I type this and I can't think of any parts or sections that would be great to share. I'd rather talk about my Theater Room than my garage, because I designed and built that whole area, compared to stuffing some storage in the corner of my garage. :)

Lots of talk about nuts. Made me hungry . Really want some honey roasted peanuts. Great tip about taking pictures of complicated updates. I take lots of pictures of how things are so I can get it back the way it should be

@@AndyKruseChannel right! At least you can get a little kickback though. It takes a lot of time to make these videos and edit them. So not that you can retire on the cash flowing in but it's nice to get that little kickback finally.

@@AlfsMustangGarage I don't have high hopes on the money side. Because my view count is so low, I'll probably be in the $40/mo range. Not enough to even buy a new part for the car. But really, being able to help out those that are planning to do the same upgrade/replacement is really the best part. It's great to hear that something from my videos helps people. :)

A small turnbuckle would work really well there
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel Год назад
Possibly, but the stock parts are fairly affective. It would just add to the cost of refitting these seats and would rarely get used. We tend to put the seat where we want it an rarely move it. 🙂
@williamdozier5190

@@AndyKruseChannel this is true was just suggesting a very small turnbuckle as a replacement for the flimsy stock part . AT least you would not have to worry about stripping it😎

I just wish the seat track assembly wasn't so cheaply made. It seems like we should be able to buy something that is sturdier. Oh well, it works for now. :)

I kind of like those welded seat track extensions you removed. Do you still have them or did you toss 'em?

Hey Andy, we just bought the same car but not in the same condition as yours (many rust). Thanks for your advice but we wanted to know which tool to remove the nuts from below (the size) ? Thanks 🙂
@AndyKruseChannel

Awesome! The nuts that hold the seat to the car? You'll want to use a 1/2" deep socket for those nuts. :)

Where can I get those extensions? I can barely get into my ‘66 and then I sit way too close to the steering wheel….look like a nerd going down the road with the top down. 6’1”

Still trying to figure out where I went wrong with this one. I bought the kit from CJ Pony Parys and the track mounting holes didn’t align with the seat holes. I had to drill the track holes out to get them to line up. No huge deal, but still a pain. Then I got everything all hooked back up and the seat dropped right into the car and it didn’t/won’t move at all! Not sure what I did wrong. Pulling it all back out tomorrow. So frustrating what should have been such an easy job…🤬😡🤬
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel Год назад
These track kits look easy on the surface, but they need to be connected correctly for them to work (which I think you're finding out). Maybe pull the other seat and use the layout as a guide for connecting everything on your first seat. It's probably one tiny thing and then it'll be perfect. :)
@banks412
@banks412 Год назад
@@AndyKruseChannel thanks! I may have to do that. I took tons of pictures to make sure I had it connected properly but yeah, I'm stumped. To make matters worse, the previous owner has the left exhaust pipe routed right over the bolt holes, making removal of the seat a huge PITA! Ugh - always something....
