Hi, thanks for info, good job! Just a couple of questions: 1) Maybe it's better to give syrup later, after second check afternoon? Of course then you let them with no food for 7-8 hours. 2) I think these bee packages with no queens has some pheromenes which calm bees (to think queen is near the swarm) so I think after you shake the bees you should remove these boxes from the field asap because they will attract bees.
I think syrup straight away is fine. They will leave it if they dont want it. 100% right though about the boxes. Even with the lures removed, the boxes still contain pheromone and it causes issues. Next year I will just dump them straight in and remove all the empty boxes out of the apiary.
