Good clean saw cutting. The side plates overlap enough to cover some mistakes. They don't tell you in the lousy instruction sheet that the wood screw holes in the lockset and the striker plate are dimpled, so you need to countersink (which you did). The instructions do say to drill a 1/2" hole in the center of the door cutout - but I don't see why. BTW, if you go to the Amazon page for this, they link three videos from the manufacturer, where they say to chamfer the cutout, how to reverse the lock, and they show the holes dimpled. Now, if only they'd rewrite the instruction sheet
definitely drill a cut out/ recess in the back of the cut out. Without it the mechanism rubbed a little and the latch wouldn't open all the way. I used a 3/4" spade. only need a 3/16 deep hole
