Thanks a lot Eric for all of the excellent knowledge that You share with Us, Your videos helped Me to make a very good little tilapia pond with a waterfall. I have been an aquarist most of My life, I had a 55 gal. fresh water community tank with live plants , and biological. and mechanical filteration. I was really into it and read many books , and magazines on the subject. But ponds are different, and to me, know much more rewarding, and beneficial for Our phsycological, mental, and spiritual health. I see fish ponds are a way to feed the masses nurtitious, unpolluted , non- GM fish, and water for food crops from the top off drain water. I have a lot of respect for You and Your artistry, and technical knowledge, try to remain humble because You are one of The Best pond technician/Artist in the world. You need to be here to rebuild the infrastructure when the shit stops hitting the fan. May The Most high bless You and protect You and Yours through all of the storms and problems.......Seven Thunders
That is a great question! Chlorine will dissipate from the water via a waterfall within just a few hours, Chloramine is a very different animal! Chlorine seems to hand on and accumulate. I suggest adding an ounce or so every time you are doing your routine maintenance as a cheap form of issuance. .
I do suggest you have a shut off before the autofill so in the case you ever need to do maintenance or repair you don't have to shut off water to the home. In some cases where the home has STRONG WATER PRESSURE we will install a pressure regulator before the autofill so the autofill doesn't drip constantly.
I need to get this part up on our online store. If you call our headquarters we can get that to you or if you purchase the standard autofill kit from our online store and request the connection for HELIX and mention RU-vid I'll make sure you get the correct fittings. Thank you for your interest!!
This is incredible. So simple and so effective. I plan on making a large pond, about 15ft*20ft*5ft (My dream at least) in about 3 years, I am hopeful that the Helix Life Support products will be available in New Zealand by then. Truly impressed.
Question: Instead of inserting the 90 degree elbow on the outside, can you just screw the compression fitting straight into the outside portion of the bulk-head fitting?
For the winter time would you remove the house bib and tubing so that you will not have to worry about freezing in the winter time? by the way thanks for the video.
what happens when u have done this and the bobber part (in my pond) is lying on the pump...doesnt shut off on its own..keeps trickling...If the bobber is lying on the pump could that be the issue
Thank you for posting. Do you know the part number of the male elbow that you are using and who makes it? Been to two stores and even called the Watts company but they won't sell to me.
+Leslie Huls If it is trickling you might have to much water pressure. Most float valves max out at 50psi. Sometimes a hose bib can have up to 100psi. You might need a pressure regulator.
Hlo Eric. I am considering an auto fill valve. Being that I live in a house with treated city water, is it safe for my fish to have a auto fill valve installed? Won't it put too much chlorine into the system?
+Joshua Dennis Yes and no. It will work but on other skimmers when the leaf basket gets clogged on the other skimmers the autofill will be fooled and turned on even though the pond doesn't need water. The Helix Pond Skimmer float assembly won't be fooled to turn on if the basket is neglected because of it's unique design. So if you install an autofill on the other pond skimmers be sure to keep your leaf nets clean.
