Thanks for watching folks. If you like fast cars I have lots of videos about my Mazda MX-5 racecar too here: ru-vid.com/group/PLongVur9FFhpXiA_xmcTCDQ7xSQya_PQx
Instead of cutting the white ring on the shifter, you can use some WD40 or any spray lubricant to help slip the rubber boot off the shift knob. Same trick to reinstall it.
Yeh! done right finally...Only thing I did different was add some silicon grease to the new upper ring and location spigot.....made it less notchy to start with.....thinking about tapping the spigot out to 8mm and turning a smooth spigot rather than running on bolt threads.
@@mrmax92i the picture of the instructions was very blurry but it wasen't too hard to install. Shift's are little bit stiffer and slide in like a riffle lock! Feels like a racecar
Hoping someone sees this: 1. My kit has only came with one metal+plastic bushing(without a notch). The online kit only shows one so do you have to buy a second one with a notch separately? 2.The nipple/nub on thick metal bushing(where three screws go into place): if I point it towards the back of the vehicle, the nub is on the top of the bushing(therefor incorrectly installed based on the video. However, if I flip it so the nub is on the bottom of the bushing, I have to turn the so the nub points towards the front of the vehicle. Is this a problem? Incorrect installation? Or maybe a slightly different kit? please help….
You don't have any for the 5-speed NB '01-'02 on your website. Plus the 6-speed option is still quite expensive ($320). How is this more compelling than one from MiataRoadster ($350)?
Hi Darrin, Thanks for watching! Our 5 speed short shifter will fit all 5spd equipped NB's. You can choose the NB option from the drop down box when adding it to your cart. Note that here in Australia, all 01-02 NB's came in 6spd. Our 6spd option is currently priced at $320 AUD, and so offers great value over the $350USD + shipping for one from Miata Roadster for our Australian customers.
Does the shifter make any rattle noises? Cuz I bought a short throw shifter from miata roadster and make some faint rattle noises. Just wanted to know if the kit from beavis motorsports makes no noise or if its the same.
He does stock them, they are a bit dearer though. Still cheaper than any other six speed short shifter on the market however. beavismotorsport.com/store/quick-short-shifter-for-mazda-mx-5-6-speed-na-nb-01-05.html
Installed last night on race/track MX5 with NA5 speed, gears are very close together now. Does this increase chance for MONEY shifts? I have always used OEM shifter with tall shift knob. thanks for the chanel very good material!
@@Bbeavis from a friend but looks exactly like the shifter in your video. Same parts in the kit. Seems to shift ok in garage, not really able to drive much on street car not street legal. Just wondering your experience vs OEM and the does the increase the possibility of $$$$$$ shifts?
@@Bbeavis yeah, guess I will wait for next race (OCT) and take OEM parts in bin ready to change if I do not like the way this one works. Sadly my commuter car is a NB with an "Automatic" we know how much you like those cars, but I have to say the NB auto for day to day traffic is not really that bad. Still has 14" tires so gets up to speed pretty quick....
@@lil_mac380acp2 Retail the OEM shifter, replace any worn bushes with replacement oem parts from your local parts supplier/dealer spare parts. Usually that is all that's required to fix most peoples shifter issues.
nice job... mounting right over the old crappy oil with pieces of the old desintegrated white bushing, and did not refill oil... thats how you change the shifter.. not how you change properly...
