@@DIYwithMichaelBorders it was wonderful you explain this so to the point! 😊 they are typical development type door knobs they just needed to be fixed properly thank you so much for this awesome video! 😊
Never thought of need to watch a video for this but I should have watched this first. I ended up locking myself in the room yall! It would NOT open from the inside or the outside. Ahhhh the field trip I took to get it opened lol. But my inner mechanism might be missing something. I probably just need to go to the store and get a whole new one FOLLOWING THESE FRIGGEN DIRECTION 😂Thanks for the video man.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders don’t mind if I do! Coffee makes everything better. I appreciate your attention in this conversation. Yeah I’m just going to buy a new knob and then re watch this video to make sure I’m aligning things right. I think the old one may have lost something in the mechanism. Good to know that I’m not the only one lolzzz. Thank you and I’ll be sure to check back on more videos here. Have a great Wednesday!
@@ChangedUpNowWhat We appreciate the reply and our Wednesday has been busy. We filmed PART 1 of removing a jet ski engine from a Sea doo ski. Hope your project goes well once you get the new door knob. 😎👍

At about 1:43 or so in the video, one can see a sort of metal ring amongst the parts you were taking out of the package. However, you never showed that part being used nor did you mention it. I had tried to install a new door lever and have not had any luck. I first tried doing it without the round ring that was also in the package I bought - and it didn't work. That's when I decided to look online to try to see how to properly install the lever - but guess I'll just try again. I had installed a new handle/lever on an exterior door a year or two ago and had no problem at all. Later: I was able to get the handle installed, without the round ring that had been included in the packaging, which I had been trying to fit in before.
Sadly i watched a lot of these doorknob installation tutorials but this specific knob i purchased was poorly made. Screws werent aligning correctly. Will buy another one and try this tutorial again

Appreciate your work, but the video does not deal with the 2 hardest parts (in my case); 1) getting the long screws to engage with the rotatable plate behind them and 2) getting the lock to work. On (1) unless I twist the outer plate counter-clockwise, the screws just "fall through" the holes ; so that step has to be done carefully. Then (2) I find that the key slit is not vertical and the lock won't engage, so there is some other step that needs to be in the video so that everything lines up properly. I am still fiddling with the problem and came to your (and other) videos to see if they mention these two issues. So far, no luck. (And I do appreciate the hard work to put the video together. I know you cannot anticipate every problem. I'm writing just in case you ever redo this. My guess is that I'm not the only one with these issues. And ... the instructions that come with a standard doorknob are written in the world's smallest font. So they are pretty much useless. (Frustration!)
Good morning ☕️ any update? Are you installing the same kit as shown in this video? Door knob kits are pretty standard these days however there are a few that have a few extra confusing steps. Please keep us posted.
Is there such a way to rotate the lock position from horizontal to vertical? I have a dead-bolt up top that locks at a vertical position and I got this Schlage that is locking at a horizontal, and I truly don't know how to fix it. I fiddled with it enough that I opened the whole thing up, and springs fell out. -- Well, this lock is going back to the MFG. Very frustrating, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You may be able to find a knob that is designed this way online. Ace Hardware is a great place to check as well. We saw door knobs while at Ace Hardware recently that had vertical position locks. Please keep us posted on your project, us DIY’ers need to stick together! 😎👍🔧🔩

Good morning & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. You can place a cloth, towel, rag, or shirt over knob to alleviate the screw & screwdriver from scratching it as you secure screws.

Thanks for watching, awesome job making it a DIY project sharon. Something is too tight. Either the inner shaft that is inserted through the middle of door or knobs themselves are too tight. Is the door knob brand new? It’s possible that the knob kit is damaged…🤔…if it’s new, was the package sealed? @@sharondiblasio1952 Thanks for the reply sharon, the inner mechanism should already be lubricated from manufacture however if it’s not, it must be lubricated. White lithium grease is better to use than WD40. Below is a link. amzn.to/3lWYIKa Please keep us posted. 🧰

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders The problem was the bolt itself. It has a slide inside it that had moved. I had to stick an awl inside the side of the bolt to move and reset that slide. That step opened up two holes for the screws to go through. If you redo this video, I suggest you show this possibility and its solution.
4:22 How in the bloody hell are you supposed to screw in and tighten the two screws, when a Phillips head screwdriver won't work at an angle?!?!?!? I got one kinda in and the other only about half way. it's stripped now

I did get it done. It was pretty straightforward. I was just concerned about having to switch the length of it. But it was fine at the factory setting. Once I looked at it, it was pretty self explanatory. Thanks.
